Later, a half-blind monk turned 5,000 corpses buried in the church cemetery due to the Black Death or war into decorative artworks, which became the bone church we see today. The scale of this bone church is obviously smaller than the one I saw in the Czech Republic before. It is more simple and you will be scared if you approach it suddenly. However, foreigners do not think these bones are scary, but rather have a sense of nostalgia. The entrance to the Church of Bones has a big sign "Nós ossos que aqui estamos pelos vossos esperamos", which means our bones are waiting for your bones here, so cool👍 Evora is a very small ancient city, and a large section of the ancient city wall is still preserved. This is an amazing hotel, so beautiful and luxurious, located in such a small town! We could easily walk from the hotel to all the historical sites and the central square. It was a great trip! We really enjoyed it. Our room was spacious with a quiet balcony and a very comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was fully decorated in marble, featuring a walk-in shower and very nice toiletries. Everything was very gorgeous and comfortable. The breakfast was truly delicious, offering a variety of hot and cold foods, and the fruit was fresh. They have a heated swimming pool and an outdoor area with a regular pool. Honestly, I didn't want to leave. If there were more things to do in Évora, I would stay longer just for this hotel. I highly recommend Évora Olive to everyone. Highly recommend Évora Olive.

Famous attractions include the Capela dos Ossos Chapel, located in the square in front of St. Francis Catholic Church? Next to it is the Church of Our Lady of Grace, Igreja da Graça. It is really comfortable to stroll on the cobblestone streets in the city of Évora. In the center of Placa do Giraldo Square, the surrounding shopping streets are crowded and quite lively. The Roman Temple Templo romano de Évora is an ancient Roman site listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site. It was built around the 1st century AD and is dedicated to Diana, the ancient Roman goddess of the moon and hunting. It is also the best-preserved Roman temple on the Iberian Peninsula. If you have more time, you can go to the Almendres Cromlech Stonehenge, which is located 15 kilometers west of Evora. It is similar to Stonehenge in the UK. It is the largest existing circular stone circle on the Iberian Peninsula and is very suitable for taking pictures.

Evora is one of my favorite old towns in Portugal. This white city still breathes the warm atmosphere of the mixed cultures it encountered in its vibrant history. You can see typical narrow Moorish streets, white meticulously designed buildings combined with its agricultural and spiritual heritage. It's small and flat, perfect for walking, but large and interesting enough to make visitors feel comfortable as they slowly stroll along the cobblestone streets and beautiful squares. Sit in one of the cafes, enjoy a drink, coffee, and take in the beautiful views of Evora! Check out its churches, chapels, temples, palaces, museums, fountains, noble residences... No wonder it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. It's a great place for a leisurely walk, with enough good tourist infrastructure to make it a wonderful place for visitors to eat, drink, and have fun.

#2024wish We were really lucky that the weather permitted us to skydive during our visit to Portugal. Initially we booked skydiving in Faro, the southern part of Portugal with nice beaches. However the weather was not good there. So we chose to skydive in Evora instead. Evora is about 1.5 h from Lisbon by train. Skydiving has been in my dad's bucket list for a long time. We tried to do it in New Zealand in 2019 but the weather was not good when we were there. Then we stopped traveling for almost 3 years due to the pandemic. Finally my dad got to tick skydiving off his bucket list at an age of 71! I'm so proud of him. Tandem skydiving is really easy. Just follow the instructions given and trust your instructor. The whole process, excluding briefing, can be completed in 30 minutes. 15-20 minutes airplane ride, jump off the plane and free fall for about 1 min, open the parachute and glide for about 5 min and you will have an experience of a lifetime. Made a stop at Evora and there I was..enjoying the bird's eye view from 16,404.2ft for a 75secs of 200km/h free fall. thanks to my tandem master, Fraustino for letting me to steer the parachute as well. So if you feel like getting that adrenaline pumping, just strap urself to a jumper n jump!! this one took me around €240 including videos and pictures. hoping one day i would be able to take up the skydiving course & with that i can burn more calories but in a fun way. I Love Évora. It’s an old city, capital from Alentejo’s state in Portugal. It is so charming. This was my first time there and I couldn’t believe how beautiful it is. Evora is a historical town and a lot of good history. We visited the chapel of bones and Roman temple. Love this walkable little town within 20 mins walking distance . We parked our car in the hotel and spent the morning in Evora. Enjoyed the typical breakfast and we love the charm atmosphere. Many lovely restaurants and small shops. Although we saw quite some beggars but it looks “safe”.

Even a stroll through the cobblestone alleys is photogenic, and you can spot bougainvillea and the Portuguese symbol of good luck, the "gallo," on every street corner! 🌿 Público de Évora Garden A relaxing haven for locals, this is where we even spotted a vibrant peacock! If you visit between spring and summer, you'll see peacocks with even more beautiful plumage! 🏛️ Évora Roman Temple (Temple of Diana) These Roman ruins towering against the blue sky are a symbol of the city. With an overwhelming presence, this is a must-see spot when you visit Évora. 🍨 Gelataria Pezagno In between our strolls, we enjoyed some of their specialty gelato. It was rich yet refreshing, perfect for strolling around the hot city of Évora. They even topped it off with some rich homemade cream! 🍷 Restaurante ¼ Para as 9 Dinner was a delight, full of flavors from the Alentejo region. The shark soup had a mild flavor, and the grilled black pork, with its peppery sauce, was juicy and satisfying. We also enjoyed a local wine pairing. The waiter's kind service was also appreciated!
