The Afundación exhibition center in Ferrol is currently hosting the final days of the documentary exhibition "Habitar o baleiro" (Inhabiting the Emptiness), which has already captured the hearts of many visitors across the region's major museums. This immersive documentary exhibition uses photography, chronicles, and audiovisual materials to tell the story of life, depopulation, and resilience in rural Galicia. It's a captivating experience that combines over 90 striking photographs by World Press Photo winner Brais Lorenzo with journalistic reporting by Claudia Morán, Manolo Broa, Alba Moledo, Sergio Pascual, Alba R. Saavedra, and Lucía Abarrategui. The project captures both the shadows of abandonment and isolation, as well as glimmers of hope: the birth of new nature-based initiatives, the unbreakable bond with the primary economic sector, the enduring strength of living traditions, and the vitality of tight-knit neighborhood communities. Photographer Brais Lorenzo has spent over a decade documenting rural life in Galicia. The journalism project that forms the foundation of this exhibition has received numerous prestigious awards. "Habitar o baleiro" portrays rural Galicia from a deeply human perspective—exploring its transformation, what has been lost, what has been preserved, and the new possibilities it offers to modern society.

The work of the Ferrol-based artist and sculptor shuns clichés, uncompromisingly laying bare reality. The "É humanidade" ("This is humanity") exhibition is currently on display at the Torrente Ballester Cultural Center in Ferrol. The collection features 120 pieces, including sculptures, paintings, graphics, and watercolors. Braxe makes extensive use of recycled materials to craft powerful, socially incisive works. Hands hold a special place in his art, serving as a potent symbol of human intervention throughout history. The exhibition places a heavy emphasis on themes like environmentalism, militarism, war, and Galician history. Xoán Braxe, a Galician creator of renowned public sculptures, has remained fiercely independent and true to his convictions his entire life. The exhibition will run until July 5.
