Naturium Retinaldehyde 0.15% + Multi Peptide Moisturizer Review After Weeks of Using
I decided to buy this Naturium Retinaldehyde Cream Serum 0.15% even before TikTok started the drama surrounding the brand 😭 At the time, I was simply looking for a decent retinal product, with a concentration strong enough to see results but still gentle enough for my easily irritated skin.
And it was a hopeless order… it took almost a month to arrive 🥲 During the waiting period, I thought, "Oh well, it's probably not worth it," but when I actually used it, honestly… I understood why this product is talked about so much.
The first thing that made me choose retinal over retinol is that retinal is gentler on my skin. It's not a case of "retinal is better than retinol," I'm not denying the effectiveness of retinol at all. Retinol is still an extremely good active ingredient and has been proven effective for a very long time. My skin is quite sensitive to strong treatments; it easily turns red, dry, and peels if I use high-concentration retinol continuously.
Retinal, on the other hand, is smarter with my routine. Retinal only needs one conversion step to become retinoic acid, so it usually shows results faster than retinol, but if you build a proper routine, your skin will adapt much more easily.
That's the theory, but my actual experience after a few weeks of use is:
· Noticeably smoother skin after washing my face
· More even skin texture
· Makeup looks much better on top
· New dark spots fade faster than before
· Waking up in the morning, my skin has a naturally firm and healthy glow
What I like most is the "healthy skin" effect, not the oily shine or artificial tightness. My skin looks genuinely more vibrant.
The texture of this product is exactly like a cream serum. It's not too runny like a serum, but it's not thick and heavy like traditional treatment creams either. When first applied, it feels slightly moist and moisturizing, but after a few minutes it sets quite well. I use it at night while the air conditioner is on all night, and my skin doesn't feel dry or tight in the morning.
But I have to be honest, whether retinal works well or not depends heavily on how you use it.
I don't layer 7749 active products at once 😭
On days I use retinal, I usually keep my routine extremely minimalist:
Night routine with retinal:
· Gentle cleanser
· Basic hydrating toner or serum
· Naturium Retinaldehyde Cream Serum 0.15%
· Finish with a thin layer of moisturizer if my skin is very dry
I don't mix it with strong acids, don't use it with peels, and don't try to "force" too many treatments on my skin in one night. Because the longer I use it, the more I realize skincare isn't a race of aggressive active products 😭 A healthy skin barrier is what helps skin look beautiful in the long run.
And that's why I add the Naturium Multi Peptide Moisturizer to my routine after using retinal 🫶🏻
This is basically my recovery partner. After using retinal the night before, the next day I focus on completely restoring my skin:
· Hydration
· Barrier care
· Not harshly active
· Non-exfoliating
The texture of this peptide moisturizer is soft, like a cushion cream. It's not too thick, but it feels very comfortable when applied to the skin, as if it's being "wrapped" up. On days when my skin is a little dry or slightly sensitive after treatment, using this moisturizer makes my skin feel noticeably calmer the next day.
What I like most is that this combo doesn't make my skin feel "thin and over-treated." On the contrary, my skin maintains a healthy glow quite well. It's a glow from a healthy skin barrier, not a glow from overly strong skincare.
Here are some important tips I've found if you're just starting to use retinal/retinol:
· Don't use it every day right away.
· Twice a week is enough.
· Recovery days are just as important as treatment days.
· Always use sunscreen diligently during the day.
· If your skin stings or peels excessively, reduce the frequency.
· Don't think peeling equals faster results 😭.
· Be patient for at least a few weeks to allow your skin to adapt.
And honestly, what I love about this combo is the feeling of "stability." It's not about miraculously beautiful skin after three days. It's about waking up each morning with skin that looks a little healthier, a little more even, and makeup that looks a little better.
For me now, skincare isn't about trying to fix my skin as quickly as possible anymore. Instead, it's about skincare in a way that makes me feel comfortable and lasts longer ✨
