If we had to choose a short trip that offers both the sea and mountains in one go, we would definitely choose this route again 💙 Starting from Tokyo, driving down to Hayama / Zushi takes a little over an hour. It's a great change of pace from the big city, swapping it for the blue ocean, aesthetic cafes, and a seaside shrine with a view of Mt. Fuji 🌊 We took a laid-back drive, stopping by Zushi Beach, Shin-nase Bus Stop, Morito Shrine, UNDER THE PALMO, and Riviera Zushi Marina. Each spot has its own unique vibe. On a clear day, seeing Mt. Fuji perfectly paired with the ocean is absolutely gorgeous. That night, we drove on to stay in Shin-Fuji so we could wake up early. The ultimate goal of this trip was to catch a full, unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji ☀️ The next morning, we checked out famous spots like the Mt. Fuji Bridge (Fujisan Yume no Ohashi) and the Starbucks with a view of Mt. Fuji before driving up to the Mt. Fuji 5th Station. This was another unforgettable experience—seeing Mt. Fuji closer than ever, feeling the crisp, cool air, and taking in scenery that looks even better than the photos. 💙 Our favorite things about this trip: ✨ Enjoying the ocean, cafes, shrines, and Mt. Has anyone ever had that moment when you see a place in a photo and think, "Next time I go to Japan, I have to stand right there"? ☺️ For me, one of those places is the Fujisan Yume No Ohashi Bridge. Seeing it with my own eyes, the feeling was truly different from the photos 🗻✨ As you walk up the bridge, Mt. Fuji gradually appears right in front of you. Especially on a clear day, the blue sky contrasting with the snow-capped peak creates such an amazing vibe that you'll find yourself stopping to take photos at almost every turn 📸 What I love about this place is that the view isn't limited to just one spot. By walking along the bridge and the surrounding areas, you'll discover Mt. Fuji from various angles. Some spots feature Japanese streets and the cityscape in the foreground, giving you a glimpse of Mt. Fuji in the everyday lives of the locals 💙 But if you're after that iconic shot, you definitely have to try the staircase angle where it looks like you're walking straight up to Mt. Fuji. 🚅 Traveling from Tokyo: You can take the Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Shin-Fuji Station, then catch a local bus or a taxi to the bridge area. If you prefer a hassle-free and time-saving option, taking a taxi from the station is highly recommended 🚕 Just remember to check the latest bus schedules before your trip. If you're visiting the Fuji area and don't stop by the Fujisan Yume no Ōhashi Bridge (富士山夢の大橋), you haven't really arrived! 😂 This is a viral photo location where almost every Thai tourist comes to create content!
The highlight here is the overpass where, if you look straight ahead, Mount Fuji is perfectly framed right in the middle. It looks as if Fuji is sitting right at the end of the bridge. On a clear day with blue skies, it's absolutely stunning. Just seeing it with your own eyes is spectacularly magnificent! 🗻✨
As for the most popular activity here... it's running up and down the stairs! 🤣 Everyone is trying to time their shots to get a frame without anyone else in it. I was one of them, running up and down multiple times, lol. It's a bit tiring, but once you see the photos, it's totally worth it!

This spot is located at a highway rest area heading towards Nagoya. If you're a Mt. Fuji view hunter, you absolutely have to pin this place! As soon as you walk up, you're greeted with a full view of Mt. Fuji standing majestically right behind the Starbucks store. It looks exactly like a postcard! 🥹 The weather was perfectly clear on the day we visited, so we could see the peak of Mt. Fuji super clearly. The white snow contrasting with the bright blue sky and the store itself is just a picture-perfect combination. You can snap incredible photos from literally any angle! 📸 I highly recommend stopping by to grab a drink and chill while taking in the view, or you can take photos in front of the store like we did. This specific angle is super popular because you get both the Starbucks logo and Mt. Fuji in a single frame. 💚 🚅 How to get there: You'll need to rent a car and drive yourself to make a stop at this rest area. From famous locations to hidden gems 🫶 In Shizuoka, the best viewing times vary by area, so you can enjoy cherry blossoms for a long period from February to April. ① Kawazu Town (Kawazu Cherry Blossoms) 📅 Mid-February to early March (In 2026, they are currently 80% in bloom and at their peak) Known for their deep pink color. The rows of trees along the river are a highlight. 🚃 Just near Kawazu Station 🌸 During the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival, it gets very crowded. When I lived in Shizuoka, I would arrive by 7 AM, spend two hours sightseeing, and leave by 9 AM 😂. After 9 AM, it gets extremely crowded. ② Taisekiji Temple 📅 Late March to early April The spacious temple grounds allow for dispersed crowds, making it easier to take photos. Parking is available. It’s recommended to arrive by 8 AM. This spot is not very well-known, making it a true hidden gem. ③ Ryuganbuchi 📅 Late March to early April A spot where you can capture both Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms in one shot. Morning hours are recommended. The bridge is often crowded with photographers carrying large cameras 😂. ④ Fuji Reien Cemetery 📅 Early April The long rows of cherry blossom trees are breathtaking. 🕒 To avoid crowds, visit between 7–9 AM. 🚗 Traveling by car is the most efficient. Day 1 🍚 Lunch Had a Chirashi Bowl at Ogawa Port Fish Market Cafeteria. It was fresh and delicious 😁 🚘️ Sightseeing Miho no Matsubara: The sea was close, and I could feel the great nature (though there were some clouds over Mt. Fuji 😓). Nihondaira Yume Terrace: I was hoping for a contrast between plum blossoms and Mt. Fuji, but the clouds covered Mt. Fuji too much 😂. 🏬 Shizuoka Prefectural Office: The view from the observation deck was stunning ✨️. It’s great that you can see it for free from indoors 😁. 🚶♀️ Strolling around Shizuoka: Bought ice cream at Nanaya, choosing flavors 3 and 6. Even 6 was rich enough, but 3 was easier to eat 😂. Found some illuminations on the way back to the hotel from the city hall! It’s a great deal to see this for free 🉐. The atmosphere of the Oden Street was amazing (though I didn’t enter any shops). 🛌 Hotel Stayed at Hotel Ole Inn Shizuoka. It was clean and had excellent value for money 🙌. Free parking (limited spaces), free curry dinner (with salad, and you can have seconds), breakfast buffet, natural hot springs (with open-air baths and sauna), and unlimited manga reading (with a great selection of titles). Day 2 After enjoying the breakfast buffet: 🐄 Makaino Farm: Relaxed with the stunning view of Mt. Fuji and the animals. Waited 30 minutes to ride Heidi’s Swing, haha. 💧 Shiraito Falls: The breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji and the falls ✨️. The private parking lots were cheaper 🙌. 🍚 Dinner: Ended the trip with the reliable choice of Sawayaka.

Here's my half-day itinerary in Fuji City: 1️⃣ Cafe Onion for Breakfast A classic coffee shop offering a variety of dishes including toast, sandwiches 🥪, noodles, rice, curry, and pasta. 📬 Address: 〒416-0915 Shizuoka Prefecture, Fuji City, Fuji-cho 9-5 Asahi Building 2️⃣ Fuji Honmachi Shopping Street Just a 5-minute walk from Cafe Onion. This traditional shopping street retains its old-fashioned charm, and at the end of the street, you'll find a view of Mount Fuji. 3️⃣ 7-Eleven Fuji City Yoshihara Store Unlike the Lawson near Kawaguchi Station, which attracts many tourists, this 7-Eleven in Fuji City is much quieter. We rented bikes at Fujisanbike Studio. It's better to come in the morning: the daily rental cost starts from 2000 yen. At the end of October, it gets quite cold—warm clothing or thermal underwear is a must. We ended up urgently buying extra clothes at Uniqlo. It's more convenient to follow the route clockwise: in the morning, the flow of cars and tourist buses heads towards Oishi Park, making the ride calmer in this direction. There are almost no cafes along the way, so it's easier to grab snacks at Lawson and have a mini-picnic by the lake. The full loop takes several hours, but the route is easy and suitable even for beginners. Yagizaki Park A wide view of Mount Fuji and a peaceful waterfront where you can take photos without crowds. Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine Satomiya A shrine away from the tourist hustle. This was one of the first places where we saw momiji—red maple leaves. I even took a couple with me 😅

Tip: try to book tickets so that your arrival and departure cities are different. For example, arrive in Tokyo and depart from Osaka. This saves a lot of time and money on transfers. 📍 Tokyo - 4 days Started in the capital: observation decks, city districts, cuisine, nightlife. Endless photo spots. The pace is fast but very vibrant. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for a day trip to Kamakura 🥲 📍 Fuji / Kawaguchiko - 2 days Came here for views of Mount Fuji and peaceful bike rides along the lake. After Tokyo, it was the perfect pause. 📍 Kyoto - 3 days A calm and atmospheric city. A blend of nature, traditional architecture, and temples. Believe me, there’s plenty to see here. 📍 Osaka - 5 days Used the city as a base: lots of food, shopping, and a convenient transport hub. Perfect for a bit of rest and wandering aimlessly. From here, we took a classic day trip to Nara to visit the deer park.

However, be cautious around the station area, as it is surrounded by factories and frequented by many trucks❗️. Shizuoka 📍Fuji City Fuji City is a city in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, home to the famous Yume Ohashi Bridge🌉. 🚇It's only a two-hour Shinkansen ride from Nagoya or Tokyo, so today I'd like to recommend a day trip to Fuji. 📍Fuji City Central Park (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) This park offers a beautiful pond with views of Mt. Fuji⛰️. It's even better for taking photos than the crowded Yume Ohashi Bridge. 🍜Niku to koma Fujiyoshiwara (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) A place that serves 1,000 yen steaks! With a 4-star rating on Google, it's a great value restaurant. 🛍️Mega Don Quijote Uni Fuji Yoshiwara (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) This Don Quijote is right next to the restaurant. It's not a tourist-oriented Don Quijote, but it sells most everything, and it's much less crowded than downtown. 📍Urui River (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM) The Urui River, which runs through Fuji City, is a place where, at sunset, you'll feel like you've stepped into the anime Crayon Shin-chan. Many people choose Lake Kawaguchi or Lake Yamanaka to see Mount Fuji, but actually, the small southern town of Fuji also has many great photo spots, 1️⃣ Yume no Ohashi Bridge A pedestrian staircase leads to Mount Fuji, perfect for taking stunning photos. 2️⃣ Tano no Ura Park From the seaside observation tower, you can see Mount Fuji from a high vantage point, and the sunrise here is also very beautiful. 3️⃣ JR Fuji Station West Exit Note this is the regular train JR Fuji Station, not the Shinkansen Shin-Fuji Station, which is about 3 kilometers apart. 4️⃣ On the train approaching Fuji JR Station View the railway tracks leading straight to Mount Fuji through the driver's cabin.

However, the temperature there is still cold, and the cherry blossoms aren't quite at their best yet due to recent snow. I recommend heading to the southern side of Mount Fuji, where there are plenty of great cherry blossom spots to explore. My top recommendation is Ryugan Falls near Irimazuse Station. On clear days, the cherry blossoms here are absolutely breathtaking. The forecast looks great, with sunny days ahead—so if you're looking to capture those stunning photos of Mount Fuji with cherry blossoms, now’s the perfect time to go.
