[Shizuoka] Hachibei
I went to Yabei, a soba restaurant in Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture!
This time I had the Tenkake Udon. The crispy tempura and the chewy udon with a great texture were indescribably delicious.
There seem to be many shrines in Fujieda City, so it's a good idea to visit the shrines and then go for lunch or dinner!

Savoring Tea and Meeting Insects at Asahina's "Gyokuro no Sato"
Heading to the Asahina area in Shizuoka with one goal in mind: to truly savor gyokuro tea. The destination is "Gyokuro no Sato." Passing through the gate, a gravel and stepping stone path leads to a quietly standing building. The soft reflection of the outside light creates a calming atmosphere the moment you step inside.
1|The tea room itself is a "reward"
The signboard of "Hyogetsutei" exudes a refined charm. The mention of the Rinzai school adds a crisp and clear air to the place. Inside, the scent of tatami, the light filtering through shoji screens, a hanging scroll in the alcove, and a single flower—all understated yet picturesque.
Then comes the awaited cup of tea. The gyokuro, served in a small vessel, boasts an elegant color and aroma, with a lingering sweetness. Paired with a traditional Japanese sweet (a beautiful green confection), it creates a luxurious "Shizuoka experience" in your mouth.
2|Just gazing at the garden makes for a great trip
The view from the veranda is another highlight. The presence of water, the gradient of fresh greenery, and the gentle breeze create a tranquil atmosphere. It's more of a place to rest your mind than a typical "tourist spot." Perfect for those busy times when you need a moment of peace.
3|Insect time at the roadside station (a fun contrast)
On the way back, a stop at the roadside station reveals an unexpected insect exhibit! A board lined with butterfly specimens and even the impressive Hercules beetle on display. The three-dimensionality of its horn is truly striking, and I found myself captivated for a while. The contrast between the "stillness" of tea and the "motion" of insects was oddly enjoyable.
⸻
Travel Notes (quick overview)
· Duration: 1–2 hours if you take your time with tea and the garden
· Recommendation: Especially picturesque during the fresh green season (great for photos)

[Shizuoka B-class gourmet🗻] Refreshing hamburger and cottage stay
I've always wanted to try Shizuoka's specialty, Sawayaka!
The staff cooked it for me and I was so excited, saying "I've seen that before!!"
The hamburger steak was so filling that I couldn't stop reaching for the rice.
After that, I stayed at a cottage at Okubo Campground with a friend.
The cottage was full of a homely feel, and I was able to relax while having a hotpot party, which was very satisfying!
A maximum of 10 people can stay in one building, so why not use it for a training camp? Of course, you can also stay in a tent 🏕️

Spring Stroll & Bagels at Tsuki to Mani
#aprilblooms
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Fujieda, Tsuki to Mani is the kind of place you stumble upon and instantly fall in love with. As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by the smell of freshly baked bagels and the most charming, sunlit interior. The spring sunshine made the whole space feel extra cozy and inviting.
I ordered a bagel and a drink and enjoyed them in their eat-in space. The bagels are on the smaller side — which I personally love — and seriously delicious. It’s a perfect little stop for a relaxing spring walk.
Why You Should Visit:
✔ Freshly baked bagels in a dreamy, light-filled café.
✔ A calm, peaceful spot to enjoy your coffee break in spring.

Relax with your family at Fujieda's indoor kids' space
#Spring0yentrip
Recently, I went to a kids' space in Fujieda City with my friend's family.
We don't have kids, but we went together and had a great time!
It seems like they limit the number of people, so the kids were able to play freely!
Even adults discovered a lot of things, like "I didn't know there was a place like this!"
It seemed like a great place for families!
There was a ball pool and a slide, and my 2-year-old had a blast playing there, and there were lots of ideas to keep my 8-year-old entertained.
There was also a space for babies, so it was safe even for a 0-year-old.
It was clean and the air conditioning was perfect.
More than anything, it was great that there was a space for parents to take a break!
Adults were allowed in too, so it felt like a little amusement park!

Traveling to Shizuoka with my mother
I used the Go To Travel Campaign to save money on this trip!
I was nervous because a typhoon was approaching, but I returned safely without any problems.
I definitely wanted to eat Hamamatsu gyoza. There was a huge line at the restaurant in front of the station that I was aiming for, so I gave up and went to another restaurant. It was a little disappointing that the gyoza at Hamamatsu Gyoza, my first time at the original place, was different from what I had imagined. That is to say, they were very small, too crispy, the skin was hard, and they didn't feel juicy, and I got the impression that they were more like fried gyoza. Maybe I should have eaten them at a better place.
For sweets, I chose Nanaya, which I also wanted to go to. The strength of the matcha changes depending on the number, so it was fun to compare the taste.
The cake also had a fine sponge and was very delicious!
For dinner, I chose Sawayaka, which everyone knows and which I've always wanted to go to! I was surprised when I cut it. It's really red! It was the best for me, who likes rare gyoza. My mother thought it was a little strange. It might be a matter of likes and dislikes.
The next day, we had an early lunch, so we went to the market and ate at a restaurant. This shop is famous for the all-you-can-eat tuna until they say stop. They held it until the very last moment. It was very delicious.
The desserts were from the famous Abegawa Mochi shop. The taste was good, but the service was very disappointing. To be honest, it was so uncomfortable that I didn't feel like I was eating, and the customer service was awful. I never want to go there again.
At the end of the trip, I bought some Baumkuchen at an outlet store. Even though it was a little off-putting, it was fluffy and delicious.

I went to see the cherry blossoms in April at #RengejiikePark🌸
First of all, the surrounding roads are super crowded
Everyone is waiting for a parking spot🚗🚙🚕
The parking lot isn't that small and there are parking spaces up to the third lot, but it's still full and very popular!
The parking lot is free🅿️
Not only are the cherry blossoms beautiful, but there is also a long slide🛝, a duck boat ride (paid), and a cafe in a renovated old house in the park, so I think you can spend a fulfilling time there!!
There is a Starbucks near the parking lot, and you can enjoy the cherry blossoms from there as well🌸
There was a food truck next to the Starbucks, and a bakery and a crepe shop were there!
Both were delicious🥐
Rengejiike Park is famous for its wisteria flowers, which are very beautiful, so I think it would be nice to see them during the wisteria flowers (from the end of April to the beginning of May)💜
It seems that locals also use it as a walking course! When I went there, I found that it was indeed a great place to come for a walk! 🐕
