Fukui🫧Fukui City Kurukuru Sushi Hogaraka-tei I recently visited Fukui Prefecture, where the Hokuriku Shinkansen has just opened. I had planned to go to a specific lunch spot, but it was fully booked... So I quickly found a conveyor belt sushi restaurant that turned out to be amazing! Kurukuru Sushi Hogaraka-tei is less than a 15-minute drive from Fukui Station. At first, I thought it was a chain restaurant, but it seems to be the only one. The staff are mostly middle-aged and older, but they are very efficient and pleasant to watch. Haha. Most of the sushi is around 400 yen, with the most expensive item I had being the sea urchin at 1200 yen. However, the portions are generous with plenty of seafood, and you get two pieces, so no regrets! Haha. I was invited to a press tour of Courtyard by Marriott Fukui, which just opened next to Fukui Station in March this year, and took my long-awaited first trip to the Hokuriku region. Courtyard by Marriott Fukui is a 3-minute walk from Fukui Station, making it a great location for sightseeing in Fukui. It is also located in the tallest building in Fukui, at 28 stories, which is the tallest in the city, where there are many low buildings, so you can enjoy a spectacular view. The afternoon tea served in an Echizen lacquerware box, which just started service on June 7th, has a good balance of savory and sweet dishes, and the quality of each dish is high. It was not too heavy for me, who has recently been unable to finish an afternoon tea, and I was very satisfied. (The Lounge & Bar on the 16th floor is limited to 30 meals a day, and you can enjoy it for 5,800 yen per meal.) The Lounge & Bar can also be used as a bar, so sunset time is recommended. They have put a lot of research into how to cook rice, and the ingredients such as dried sardines and Japanese pepper are so delicious that you will want to eat more and more rice. The time spent eating the dishes that the head chef, who can be called a researcher, has created through trial and error in a wonderful space where you can watch the sunset is simply bliss. SUBSTANCE is available from breakfast buffet to dinner. The breakfast buffet, where you can eat ingredients and specialties from Fukui, is ¥3630. Substance, which offers a menu that makes use of sustainably sourced local ingredients, has a lively open kitchen that creates a gourmet experience that stimulates the senses.
