Having heard so much about this church, designed by the renowned Otto Wagner, we decided it was a must-see! Situated in the Pentzing district of Vienna, within the Otto Wagner Areal—a former psychiatric hospital—we took bus 48A to reach it. Our feelings about both the church and the hospital were mixed, yet the visit turned out to be incredibly enlightening and worthwhile. To reach the church, which stands at the highest point within the hospital grounds, we traversed numerous buildings meant for psychiatric patients. The sheer number of these buildings served as a powerful reminder of the significant number of affluent individuals in need of mental health treatment during that era. The church itself, being Roman Catholic, stands out as an iconic example of Secessionist or Jugendstil architecture in Vienna. Dedicated to Saint Leopold, the patron saint of Austria and Vienna, it struck us as very intriguing yet somewhat unsettling at times. The unusual design left us puzzled, raising constant questions, particularly as we struggled to understand some of its symbols. Thanks to the brochure we picked up, we learned that several architectural features were specifically chosen because this church catered to mentally ill patients. For instance, the altar and priest's area are completely separated from the congregation, and hidden doors were added to allow quick exits for medical staff when necessary. The church underwent extensive renovations between 2000 and 2006, preserving its historical and architectural significance.

Rented a car and searched for random water bodies on Google maps. Chanced upon this beauty! This is supposedly a reservoir. The water was so clear and serene, and with the beautiful mountains behind as backdrop, this is heaven. What's more, there's little to no people there so you have the whole place to yourself.
