Hanover | An Encounter Between Dusk and the New City Hall
After the Hanover Industrial Fair ended, I casually walked to Maschpark opposite the New City Hall. I only intended to stroll around, but unexpectedly, I found myself immersed in the gentlest spring evening.
🌆 New City Hall: Even a Stone Castle Melts at Dusk
This Neo-Renaissance style building, with its green copper dome and spires against the blue sky, looks solemn yet magnificent. The dusk sunlight pours down, wrapping the light beige stone walls in warm golden hues, and the red roofs are dyed especially tender.
Standing by the lake in Maschpark looking back, its reflection is perfectly cast on the calm water, blending the blue of the sky and the green of the trees into a symmetrical painting. No wonder it’s called Hanover’s landmark—seeing it in person makes it clear.
🌳 Maschpark: Hiding the Relaxed Feeling of Spring
When the April breeze blows, the grass looks like a soft green carpet, with long tree shadows stretched by the setting sun.
The red beeches by the lake have sprouted tender red new leaves, intertwined with fresh green buds, reflected in the water like a spilled spring palette. Occasionally, swans stretch their wings or wild ducks slowly glide across the surface, creating ripples that gently sway the reflections of the trees and the City Hall.
✨ A Little Surprise at Dusk
In Hanover, the most healing moment is sitting on a bench in Maschpark, watching the sunset slowly descend, and seeing the New City Hall change from warm gold to soft outlines. This city, famous for its fairs, actually hides so many gentle details.

Hanover
Hanover met us without ceremony. No flourish, no welcome mat just a quiet sort of presence. The kind that doesn’t need to be more than it is. At first, it felt reserved. Measured. But not cold. Like a city that’s content to be understood slowly. We arrived under a soft sky, light breaking through in pieces. The train station was efficient, direct everything where it should be. Outside, the streets felt wide, open. Trees lining avenues, trams gliding past almost silently. A rhythm that wasn’t rushed. Just steady.
This is a city that holds things in balance. Industry and green space. History and function. In the center, clean geometry and modern builds. But wander a little and you find the old bones red brick, stone towers, quiet courtyards that hold the past gently. Nothing showy. Nothing staged. Just time, layered.
The Maschsee opened up like breath. Water still. People walking, running, pausing with coffee in hand. It felt like a city that made room for work, for quiet, for space to think. The kind of place that doesn’t perform beauty but lets it emerge. A turn of light on water. The way a path curves under trees.
We ate near Linden less polished, more personal. A small place, walls lined with books and bottles, the smell of something slow-cooked in the air. The meal was simple, grounded, unpretentious. You could taste care in it. And intention. Like everything else here.

Baroque Beauty at Herrenhausen Gardens, Hanover
#postandearn
#attractive
#postandearn #HerrenhausenGardens #Hanover #GermanyTravel #HistoricalEurope #RoyalGardens
Herrenhausen Gardens in Hanover is a destination that blends royal elegance, meticulous landscaping, and artistic beauty in one grand estate. Stepping into the Great Garden (Großer Garten), I was immediately drawn to its vast symmetry—clean gravel paths, formal hedges, classical statues, and glittering fountains creating a harmonious landscape straight out of the Baroque era.
The garden’s central fountain is the tallest in Europe, soaring nearly 70 meters—its spray sparkling in the sun. I slowly wandered past rose beds and boxwood parterres, feeling immersed in a scene once admired by nobility. At the far end, the beautifully restored Herrenhausen Palace offers exhibitions about the Guelph dynasty, and its elegant façade perfectly mirrors the garden’s grandeur.
Equally enchanting is the Berggarten, a botanical garden showcasing rare orchids, desert flora, and vibrant greenhouses. It felt like walking through plant collections from every corner of the world. My surprise favourite was the quirky Grotto by artist Niki de Saint Phalle—its mirror mosaics and bright sculptures were completely unexpected and added a contemporary twist.
✅ Practical Tips:
– Visit between May and September for full bloom and live events.
– Allocate at least 3 hours; wear comfortable shoes.
– Entry includes all gardens and palace museum.
– Check for evening Illumination Shows—a magical experience with music and lights.
📍 Located just 15 minutes from Hanover city center, Herrenhausen Gardens is not just a park—it’s a living museum of art, science, and royal history. Whether you love architecture, nature, or peaceful walks, this place is unforgettable.

🇩🇪 First Stop in Germany: Hanover!
#summervacay
Hanover was my first city in Germany — capital of Lower Saxony, best known for its industrial fairs, but in reality? A super chill and peaceful city to explore 🧳✨
📍 As soon as you step out of the main train station, swing by the Tourist Info Center to grab a small city guide. Then you’re all set to follow the iconic Red Line Citywalk — it literally leads you around town like a treasure map 🗺️
The whole city is dotted with churches — walking through Hanover kinda feels like hopping from one little chapel to the next.
💫 My highlight? The New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus). A stunning Baroque palace with Neo-Renaissance vibes. It even has a tilted dome elevator that takes you to the top — supposedly one-of-a-kind in Europe! Sadly it was closed when I visited 😢 but still so worth admiring from below.
🧡 Don’t miss the lake area near Maschsee — perfect for a sunset stroll. There’s even a “lover’s lock” section on the railings. And in the city center, I stumbled upon some super cool surfers — in Hanover?! Who would've guessed.

Hannover Tidal Flat Guide: Enjoy the Fun of the Beach
Hannover, a charming city in Germany, has endless fun in the tidal flats of the coastal area. If you are visiting for the third time, you should dig deeper into the excitement.
Preparation
Before you go, check the tide table. Apps like "Windguru" provide accurate forecasts. Arrive at the beach two hours before low tide for the best chance of a good harvest. Be well-equipped with a bucket, a small rake, and a shovel. Wear old sneakers with non-slip soles or professional water shoes, as the seawater makes the rocks slippery. Bring a sun hat and sunscreen, as the German sun is relentless and sunburn can ruin your fun.
Tidal Flat
The beach near Celler Port is an old friend. It takes about an hour to get there by train from downtown Hannover. This beach is rich in shellfish, and clams are often found in the shallow sand. If you see a dense cluster of small holes on the beach, dig a few shovels deep and you will surely find something. There are also crabs hiding in the crevices of the rocks. Use a long-handled rake to gently probe and scoop them up when the time is right. If you walk further, you may come across a stranded jellyfish. Don't touch it, just watch this magical creature.
Cooking
Take your "trophies" to a small restaurant on the beach. For a small processing fee, the owner will turn your ingredients into a delicacy. Steamed clams are the most authentic. When they are served steaming hot, pry open the shells and the fresh clams with the salty taste of the sea will instantly activate your taste buds. The crabs are coated in batter and fried until the shells are crispy and the crab meat is sweet and juicy. The crunch and the flavor blend together in one bite.
If you want to cook for yourself, you can rent a simple set of cooking utensils on the beach. Set up a small pot, boil a pot of seawater, and pour in the cleaned shellfish. Add some ginger slices and green onions to remove the fishy smell. In no time, your homemade seafood soup is ready to warm your body and heart. There are also public grills on the beach. Skewer the shrimp, brush with olive oil and garlic sauce, and grill over charcoal until the shrimp turn red and fragrant. Enjoying a barbecue in the sea breeze is a great pleasure.
Relaxation
When you are tired of the tidal flats, take a walk along the coast, listen to the waves, and watch the seagulls soar. There are several nautical-themed shops nearby where you can find shell wind chimes and small anchor-shaped ornaments to add a little souvenir to your trip. When the sun sets and the afterglow gilds the sea, lie on a beach chair and enjoy the beautiful scenery. This is a romantic end to your tidal flat trip. The tidal flat time in Hannover is full of new surprises every time, and it is worth savoring again and again.

[German Recommendation] - Hannover City Hall survived under artillery fire
The City Hall in the city center is a relatively famous attraction in Hanover. It was opened in 1913 and has experienced the ravages of war and the changes of the times, but it still stands in Hanover. The exterior is gorgeously designed, and the clock displays every minute and second. It’s not super beautiful, but it’s still pretty good! We entered the interior, and there were Hanover models from four eras placed in the middle. From the seventeenth century to around World War II and now. Hannover all plays an important role.
During World War II, the entire Hannover was under artillery fire, and most of the buildings were destroyed by the war. So we are lucky enough to have contemporary buildings that are extremely rare.

Hannover, Germany's trade fair city
Founded in the Middle Ages, Hanover is located on the banks of the Leine River. It is the capital of Lower Saxony, Germany, and the third largest city in northern Germany after Hamburg and Bremen.
Hanover is a city with a highly developed industrial manufacturing industry and is the industrial center of Germany's automobile, machinery, electronics and other industries. In addition, the tertiary industry accounts for two-thirds of the employment population. In addition to commerce, finance and insurance, Hanover is most famous for its convention and exhibition industry and tourism industry. The headquarters of TUI, Europe's largest multinational tourism company, is located here.
The world's largest information technology exhibition CeBIT is held here. In 2000, the World Expo was also held here. In addition, the annual Hannover Shooting Festival is also the largest of its kind in the world.
The Egidion Church (cover) in the city center was built in the 14th century and was destroyed in an Allied air raid in 1943. It was not rebuilt after the war and was used as a war memorial for tourists to visit free of charge. #GermanyTravel #Germany #Lake #WWIIRelics #WarMemorial #HanoverCityHall #deutschland #OverseasTravel #niedersachsen

The Old Town has now become a historical reserve, with many famous old pubs and restaurants in Hanover. When the weather is fine, everyone will come here to have a drink. I asked Halsen to like to drink? He smiled and said: German men have three things that can't be less, football, beer and sausage, thirsty, let's drink.
Although I am thirsty, I prefer German milk because it is cheaper than water, but I am also obsessed with Halsen's enthusiasm. Well, I understand that Germans drink alcohol without saying a word.
After drinking the wine, I was a little overwhelmed, and I followed Halsen to the center of the old city. He said that there is a market church worth seeing. Well, you go ahead, I slow down, What do the Germans do to brew the height of the beer?
swaying to the front, almost every German city has a market church. Before the 19th century, it was a busy place. All the vendors and craftsmen gathered in the square in front of the church to sell their agricultural and sideline products. Therefore, it has become the center of a city, and the church is also crowded. Next to the
market church is the old town hall, typical of the northern German Gothic style, which is now used as a rental venue for events.
JOJO’s wonderful trip.

For Hanover, I only know that this is the hometown of the mathematician Gauss, and the rest, there is no concept. Fortunately, with friends, there is no concern. The first place that Halsen brought me is Hanovers new town hall. This is a century-old building that was built in 1913, but it is very beautiful. Bright colors, I believe that many people can't wait to see it at the first sight of the lake.
Unlike China's Tuen Mun Gate, most of Germany's city halls are open to tourists. They can even take a 3 Euro elevator to the top of the tower, overlooking Hanover.
When you climbed the top of the tower, you will suddenly see it. This is a small town surrounded by green trees and lakes. It just grows like I like it. It is exquisite, delicate, and with a literary fan. I even admire it a bit. The life of Halsen comes.
Later in the evening, Halsen drove me once again. The night city hall had a feeling of a fairy tale castle, which really murdered the girl's heart.
JOJO’s wonderful trip.

Hildesheim in Germany, historic, nice city
It's in the north-central state of Lower Saxony, located roughly 30 kilometers southeast of Hanover on the banks of the River Innerste.
It's a prominent regional hub and a vibrant university town known globally for its breathtaking medieval architecture, deep religious history.
Officially established in 815 AD by Emperor Louis the Pious, who designated it as the seat of the Bishopric of Hildesheim.
Medieval Prominence: Developed into a powerful cultural and commercial center during the 11th century under Bishop Bernward, eventually becoming an active member of the Hanseatic League in 1357.
St. Mary's Cathedral and St. Michael's Church are globally revered as masterpieces of Ottonian and Romanesque architecture, housing unique 11th-century treasures like the bronze Bernward Doors.
The Thousand-Year Rosebush: Growing on the apse of the cathedral, this legendary plant survived the 1945 bombings and symbolizes the city's longevity.
Historic Market Square: Framed by stunning half-timbered houses, its centerpiece is the elaborately carved, eight-story Butchers' Guild Hall (Knochenhauer-Amtshaus).
Panoramic Views: The Gothic St. Andrew's Church boasts a 114.5-meter spire—the highest church tower in Lower Saxony—offering views stretching out to the Harz Mountains.
World-Class Museum: The Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum houses one of Europe's most significant collections of Ancient Egyptian and Peruvian antiquities.
I enjoyed walking around there.

Maschsee Lake in Hanover, the secret healing spot for business travelers
Traveling all the way to Hanover, Germany, to attend the annual industrial fair.
After the busy exhibition, with the evening breeze gently blowing, I accidentally strolled to the shore of Maschsee Lake and encountered the city's gentlest evening.
As dusk deepened, the sunset slowly spread over the lake, the shimmering water casting a soft, layered glow.
Spring by the lake brings new life to the plants, tender branches stretching out, blossoms budding, and a fresh green view everywhere. The lake surface is especially tranquil, with flocks of wild ducks and swans leisurely floating, gentle ripples on the water, and occasional birds flying by, making time seem to slow down.
Walking slowly along the lakeside, the tree-lined path is clean and long, and the evening breeze washes away the fatigue and noise from days of business trips.
On one side is the precise, hardcore industrial civilization; on the other is the relaxed, healing natural scenery. These two completely different atmospheres blend perfectly in Hanover’s twilight.
There was no planned itinerary, just a chance walk, yet it brought an unexpected delight to the journey.
No need to rush the pace—quietly waiting for the sunset by a foreign lake, watching water birds rest on the surface, and seeing the sunset colors spread across the sky is probably the best healing on a business trip.
In Hanover, you understand the rigor of industry and also encounter the romance of nature.
📍Location: Maschsee Lake, Hanover
✨A lesser-known healing lakeside spot—make sure to come here to wait for the sunset after visiting the exhibition.

Hanover (Hannover) in Germany, beautiful botanical garden
#springtravel
The Herrenhausen Gardens of Herrenhausen Palace are located in Herrenhausen, an urban district of Hanover.
They comprise Great Garden, Hill Garden, Georgen Garden and Guelf Garden, Rose Garden.
The Great Garden has always been one of the most distinguished Baroque gardens of Europe,
while the Hill Garden has been transformed over the years from a simple vegetable garden into a large botanical garden with its own attractions.
Both the Georgen Garden and the Guelf Garden are in the style of English gardens and are considered popular recreation areas.
Approximately 650 varieties of roses are cultivated in the Rose Garden.

Hannover Trip Review – Overall Rating: 3.5/5 🟩。
I visited Hannover, and it was a quiet and relaxing experience, though it's not one of Germany's most popular tourist destinations. The city is perfect for anyone looking to unwind away from the crowds.
Highlights:
· Nature: The Herrenhausen Gardens are among the most beautiful spots in the city, perfect for a stroll and some relaxation.
· Atmosphere: The city is highly organized and clean, offering a very comfortable environment for visitors.
· Exhibitions: Hannover is well-known for its international trade fairs, which might be a big draw for business travelers.
· Transportation: The public transit network is excellent and super easy to navigate.
Things to Note:
· Tourism: It doesn't have quite as many tourist landmarks compared to cities like Berlin or Munich.
· Nightlife: It's relatively limited and might feel a bit too quiet for some.
Overall, Hannover is a great city for a short getaway or a relaxing break, but it might not be the top choice if you're looking for an action-packed sightseeing adventure.

Spring Bliss🌼

Spring in Hanover brings a refreshing mix of nature, culture, and relaxed city life. The famous Herrenhausen Gardens burst into color with blooming flowers, fountains, and perfectly trimmed hedges. Along the Maschsee Lake, locals enjoy walking, cycling, and outdoor cafés. The Old Town, with its half-timbered houses, feels especially charming under mild sunshine. Spring festivals and open-air markets add lively energy to the city. With pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds than summer, it’s an ideal time to explore Hanover’s green spaces, museums, and vibrant streets at a comfortable pace.

Hanover (Hannover) in Germany, nice, ancient city
It's a gateway to the Rhine, Ruhr and Saar river valleys, important, mayor transportation hub.
The main point of interest is the Old Town. In the centre are the large Marktkirche, the 15th century Old Town Hall, the Leine Palace, and the ruin of the Aegidien Church which is now a monument to the victims of war and violence.
Near the Old Town is the district of Calenberger Neustadt where the Catholic St. Clement's Basilica, the Reformed Church and the Lutheran Neustädter Hof- und Stadtkirche St. Johannis stand.
One of Hanover's most grandiose sight is the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen. Its Great Garden is an important European Baroque garden.

A hotel with underfloor heating in German winter!
The room is a bit small, but very clean.
Surprisingly, even in Germany, the bathroom has heated floors.
Thanks to this, my feet don't get cold when I go to the bathroom. Haha.
The water is warm, and the staff are friendly.
The location is a bit disappointing, but it's not too bad for getting around.
You can walk to the central station, take the subway nearby, and there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel.
