[A Day Drawing the Future of Children] Waseda University School of Political Science and Economics Campus Tour and Waseda Festival
Waseda University is one of Japan's leading private universities. This time, we focused on Building 3, home to the School of Political Science and Economics (Poli-Economics), its core institution, and experienced the university tour, open campus, and the famous autumn event, the "Waseda Festival."

■ School of Political Science and Economics Building 3: A Blend of History and State-of-the-Art Facilities
Renovated in 2020, Building 3 is a modern, glass-walled building. The building is filled with natural light and features cutting-edge facilities to support global learning, including a student lounge, self-study spaces, and lecture rooms where international conferences are held.
During the campus tour, Waseda students served as guides, providing a realistic introduction to the faculties, key points about the entrance examination system, and a typical day in the life of a current student. There was also a Q&A session, providing valuable time for prospective students and their parents.

■ Open Campus: Trial Classes and Hearing from Current Students
Held every summer (early August), the Open Campus allows students to experience the real Waseda through mock classes, trial seminars, and career counseling.
In the School of Political Science and Economics, students can attend lectures by current professors on topics such as "International Politics and Peacebuilding," "Economic Growth and Inequality," and "The Future of Democracy." This intellectual stimulation is a valuable asset for high school students.
In addition, the campus offers comprehensive information on study abroad programs (double degrees and one-year exchange programs) and English-language degree programs, making it especially recommended for internationally-minded students.

■ Waseda Festival: A Cultural Celebration: Two Days of Student Energy
In early November, the entire Waseda campus is engulfed in excitement during the Waseda Festival. Featuring exhibits by faculties, clubs, and seminars, stage performances, and food stalls, it is one of Tokyo's largest school festivals, attracting tens of thousands of visitors in a single day.
Seminars in the School of Political Science and Economics hold intellectual events such as Model United Nations, economic games, and political debates, creating a perfect blend of academics and entertainment.
There are plenty of highlights, including band performances by Waseda students, a stage performance by Miss/Mr. Waseda, and the famous "Wasepro" theater.
Another way to enjoy the festival is to shop for original merchandise at the school cafeteria "Mori no Kaze" or Waseda Mart.
⸻
■ Access and Nearby Attractions
• 5-minute walk from Waseda Station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line
• 20-minute walk from Takadanobaba Station on the JR and Seibu Shinjuku Lines (buses available)
After the tour, we recommend strolling around Okuma Auditorium and Okuma Garden, or enjoying the Waseda atmosphere at Cafe de Variete, the used book district, and the Sanae coffee shop.
⸻
This is a valuable day not only for entrance exams and admissions, but also to experience Waseda as a "hub of knowledge." This tour will allow you to experience the passion of students and the intellectual assets of the university.
