Oarai Shrine Sea Torii
This shrine is pretty small but the location is at the seaside and the torii gate is at the seaside so it is kind of unique. Due to its unique location, this place is not so convenient to reach and therefore this is less touristy. Most of the people reach here self drive or join a day tour. #kanto #oaraiisosakishrine ##oarai #toriigate #ibaraki

Ibaraki: Where Innovation Meets Natural Beauty
Ibaraki Prefecture is an often-overlooked destination in Japan, but it offers a unique mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and scientific innovation. Known for its expansive parks, like Hitachi Seaside Park with its mesmerizing seasonal flower displays, Ibaraki provides some of the most stunning natural scenery in the country. Mount Tsukuba, a popular hiking destination, also offers breathtaking views and a spiritual connection through its ancient shrines.
Ibaraki’s reputation as a hub for science and technology, especially with Tsukuba Science City, adds a modern and forward-thinking dynamic to the region. It’s a place where innovation thrives alongside traditional experiences, like visiting Kairakuen Garden, one of Japan’s most famous traditional gardens.
In my opinion, Ibaraki is a prefecture that balances modernity and nature seamlessly. It offers something for everyone, from tech enthusiasts to outdoor adventurers, making it a rewarding destination for travelers seeking both innovation and tranquility.

Hitachi Seaside Park's Red Kochia
Hitachi Seaside Park is adorned with hills covered in red kochia. Spanning an area of 19,000 square meters within the park, over 30,000 kochia plants transform from green to red, creating a sea of red that perfectly embodies the seamless blend of sea and sky. The scenery may be monotonous, but it's enough to captivate your attention for a good half of the day.

Hitachi Seaside Park's Blue Nemophila & Dreamy Kochia Crimson Sea.
Occupying a vast area of 200 hectares, the Hitachi Seaside Park boasts two of Kanto's most exquisite floral landscapes, which are considered must-see wonders in a lifetime for the Japanese. One of these wonders is the hilltop covered with Nemophila flowers, starting from late April. Over 4.5 million Nemophila plants dye the hilltop in shades of powder blue. From the observatory on the hill, the view below is a sea of flowers densely packed with sapphire petals, blending seamlessly with the azure sky, perfectly embodying the concept of 'heaven and earth in one hue'. It's no wonder it has been selected as one of the top ten most romantic flower fields in the world.
If you happen to miss the enchanting Nemophila bloom, beloved by women, the summer brings a different scene with the hills taken over by Kochia. It's as if countless neat green algae balls have occupied the landscape, offering a healing view. Paired with the park's rotation of daffodils, tulips, rapeseed, lavender, and sunflowers, it's a competition of beauty. And if you can't make it in the summer, early autumn offers the dreamy scenery of hills covered with Kochia turned crimson, like a vast red sea.
