Summer Nalati flower sea travel guide
1. Overview of the scenic area
Nalati is known as the secret flower sea of the sky grassland, ranked among China’s six most beautiful grasslands. It is located in Xinyuan County, Ili, and reaches its flower sea peak from June to August in midsummer. More than 40 species of alpine flowers cover vast meadows. Golden lotus, purple primrose, buttercup, and iris intertwine to form an endless colorful carpet. In the distance, the snow-capped mountains that never melt, straight and vigorous spruce trees, and winding glacial streams create a triple landscape in one frame, forming a top-tier 3D view of snow mountains, forest, flower sea, and valley. The altitude is moderate, with daytime temperatures of 18–26℃ in summer, cool without heat, and slightly chilly at night, making it the ultimate summer retreat and flower viewing spot in Xinjiang. Combining vast natural beauty with Kazakh nomadic culture, cattle and sheep graze among the flowers, yurts dot the hills, and every scene is a healing masterpiece.
2. Basic travel guide
Best time to visit
The full flower sea blooms from June to mid-July, with the highest flower density and richest colors. From late July to August, the grassland remains green, complemented by vast fields of rapeseed flowers, creating a grand and magnificent style.
Daily prime time for sightseeing and photography: 7:00–10:00 AM when morning mist drifts over the grassland with soft light; 7:00–9:00 PM at sunset for backlighting, perfect for shooting sunlit golden mountains and flower sea silhouettes. Ultraviolet rays are very strong at noon, and overhead light is not suitable for photography, so rest and avoid sun exposure then. Mountain weather is changeable, with quick showers that brighten and refresh the flowers afterward.

3. Core sightseeing highlights
1. Tianjie platform (360° panoramic flower sea)
The highest point of the sky grassland at 2,400 meters altitude, with a wooden boardwalk leading to the viewing platform. From the top, you can overlook the strip-shaped flower sea stretching over thousands of acres, with continuous snow mountains on the horizon and scattered spruce forests. Wide-angle shots capture the grand panorama, with both sunrise sea of clouds and sunset golden mountains views.
2. Tianmu platform flower slope
A large gentle slope without obstructions, covered with golden lotus flowers, with the flower sea reaching the foot of the snow mountains. There is a popular grassland swing where you can interact closely with cattle and sheep. The flat terrain is perfect for immersive flower viewing walks, and aerial shots highlight the geometric lines of the flower sea.
3. Nomadic family stream flower sea (viral hotspot)
Get off at the last stop and walk 10 minutes toward the snow mountain. Both sides of the stream are full of wildflowers, with the water reflecting the snow mountains and spruce trees. The popular wooden bridge is a landmark photo spot. Avoid crowds by walking 200 meters upstream to a wild stream where the flower sea is denser and no one appears in photos.
4. Woerta Jiao Ta Wan flower valley (hidden flower sea secret)
Also called Love Valley, it is sparsely visited, with flowers growing all over the hills. Heart-shaped meadows and large flower fields create a deep, quiet valley, ideal for atmospheric portrait photography.
5. Snow Lotus Valley snow mountain flower sea
A paid special line leads directly to the glacier foot. Even near the snow line in midsummer, flowers bloom tenaciously. Experience the extreme contrast of snowmelt water, gravel beaches, and fresh flowers up close. On clear nights, you can see the pure Milky Way starry sky.
6. Valley grassland Tawusani
A mountain with four scenic views: flower sea, grassland, spruce, and valley layered progressively. The terrain is flat and friendly for seniors and families. The flowers are delicate and gentle, creating a fresh pastoral atmosphere.

Outfit suggestions
Choose pure white, cream, light blue, or light pink long dresses to create a soft contrast with the green meadows and colorful flower sea; red long dresses offer strong visual impact, suitable for distant wide shots. The grassland has a large temperature difference between day and night, so bring a windbreaker and a light down jacket. Accessories like straw hats, woven bags, and light-colored long boots balance beauty and insect protection. Avoid large areas of green clothing, as it blends into the grassland.
