Costa Mesa Costa Mesa (Spanish for "Mesa Coast") is a city in Orange County, California, USA. Since its incorporation in 1953, the city has grown from a semi-rural agricultural community of 16,840 people to an urban area that includes the South Coast Plaza-John Wayne Airport edge city portion, which is one of the largest commercial clusters in the region, with an economy based on retail, commerce, and light industry. A 20-minute drive from Irvine, the coastal quiet bars and restaurants are distinctive, with pleasant scenery, ideal for people who enjoy light shopping and travel. 🍺 Parking can be done at the roadside meter, free on weekends, few people, but very exquisite. You can spend an afternoon there, with many unique tourist shops and restaurants, with very nice design styles.

Hako is located in Irvine next to the Zion Korean Market. They specialize in Japanese Katsu. This restaurant is a Japanese Korean fusion and is very delicious and worth a visit if you’re ever in Irvine. The katsu comes out with the perfect texture and they have many different types of katsu on the menu. This was my 3rd or 4th visit, but the first time bringing my kids along. We used the free bus service from Pasarella. The place was extremely busy, especially for food. A staff member mentioned it would be a 20-minute wait in line, and the inside of the beach restaurant was chaotic with people everywhere. Despite this, the park overall was fantastic, and the wave pool was a huge favorite with everyone.

Monterey ~ Carmel ~ Santa Barbara ~ Irvine P1-P6: From San Francisco to Stanford, our first stop was the small town of Monterey. We arrived just as the sun was setting. The town was quiet, but there were many homeless people, making it feel unsafe to stay near the pier. So we went back to the hotel early. The climate here is much drier than in San Francisco, and the hotel didn't have air conditioning, just a retro ceiling fan blowing, giving it a pleasant autumn feel. P7-P11: After driving through the 17-Mile Drive, the exit leads to Carmel-by-the-Sea. The town was very crowded. It happened to be Thursday, and there was a farm market, making parking difficult. We circled around several times, and the maximum parking time on the street was two hours, even though it was free. After two hours, we had to move the car again. Finding it too troublesome, we just quickly explored the town. The town has many beautiful, retro wooden houses, perfect for taking photos. We ate at a recommended restaurant, which I found expensive, and the portions were surprisingly small compared to what I'd seen over the past few days. The century-old bakery was cloyingly sweet. Even though I can handle a lot of sweets, this made me drink tons of water. P12-15, Santa Barbara town: refreshing, clean, and quiet. The attractions are concentrated in one area. Surprisingly, tourists were allowed to visit the courthouse, and some court hearings were even in progress. As the elevator doors opened, I bumped into police escorting a person wearing handcuffs and leg irons (see P14). It's hard to imagine that in the same building, some people begin their lives, while others end them. Some live in celebration, while others struggle. Pages 17-18: Continuing south from Barbara for about two and a half hours, you'll reach Irvine. The mountains are dotted with ocean-view villas. Laguna Beach was incredibly crowded; it was the most crowded day I saw, but everyone still drove very lawfully. The popular GELATO ice cream had a long queue; the classic vanilla flavor was very rich and delicious. It was very safe there; there were no homeless people, and you could leave your luggage directly in your car. We didn't plan to stay in Solvang (Danish Village) for this trip because we felt it was too European, and we were short on time, so we had to give it up. Driving tips: 1. One point that I rarely see mentioned is that when you're approaching an intersection and the road ahead is congested, don't hug it too closely. Wait until the road is clear and there's space for your car to pass before proceeding. Otherwise, if you stop in the middle of the road and the light suddenly changes, a traffic cop might see you and issue a ticket for obstructing traffic. 2. In San Francisco and Los Angeles, you often hear ambulances or fire trucks. You must immediately pull over to the side of the road and stop. At first, I thought I just needed to pull over to let them pass, but I found everyone else was stopping. I think if you don't stop, you'll probably get a ticket. In short, driving is simpler than I imagined because everyone follows the rules so closely that even drivers get sleepy! During my 10-day road trip, I only heard two beeps. One of them was probably when I instinctively braked at a green light because the car behind me was probably following too closely. It's a Chinese habit to slow down at intersections.

We went for a mix of spicy and non-spicy dishes that the whole family can enjoy 👇 🌟 Chengdu Mao Cai The broth has a clean, fragrant taste, not greasy. The side dishes soak up the soup really well; the more you eat, the better it gets, but it's not overwhelmingly spicy. It's the kind you can just keep eating. 🌟 Scallion-stir-fried Angus ribeye This was the first dish to be cleared from the table. 🌟 Homestyle fried rice Looks ordinary, but it's actually a solid choice. The rice grains are distinct, not oily, and the kids loved it. It's the kind of dish you order thinking it's nothing special, but it ends up being a hit. 🌟 Non-spicy Kung Pao chicken Ordered this non-spicy version for the kids~ The chicken is tender, the sauce is on the sweeter side, and the peanuts are fragrant without overpowering the dish. Kids can eat this without worry. 🌟 Purple rice, mochi, and taro paste bowl (must give this a shout-out) The purple rice + taro paste + mochi are all made fresh. The texture is soft, chewy, and fragrant, but the sweetness is well-controlled. It's not cloying, and it's good enough that I'd come back just for this. 🥤 Drinks The sparkling water is mixed to order and very refreshing. The aged white tea has a very authentic flavor and is a great palate cleanser. this west coast trip ended perfectly! Arrive and depart from LA. The itinerary is as follows: Day 1️⃣ Pick up the car at LA airport 🚗 Register as a gold member with Hertz China in advance for a 10% discount. For LA accommodation, it’s recommended to stay a bit farther from downtown. Pasadena and Alhambra are both good choices. Choose a safe neighborhood with a garage to prevent car break-ins. Day 2️⃣ South Palm Drive on Palm Avenue – shopping in Beverly Hills – Santa Monica 🌊 – Sunset Boulevard 7011 Vista Del Mar Ln Day 3️⃣ Hollywood & Griffith Observatory day tour Day 4️⃣ LA to Sequoia National Park 🌲 (4h) – stay in Fresno No signal inside the national park, so remember to download offline maps on Google Maps beforehand. Route: Sequoia Museum – Big Tree Trail (easy walk) – Tunnel Log – General Sherman Tree. I was worried about time, but five hours was enough to visit these famous viewpoints. Stay in Fresno that night. The next day, Yosemite is a short drive away. Day 5️⃣ Fresno to Yosemite ⛰️ – stay in Groveland Yosemite route: Glacier Point – Tunnel View – Bridal Veil Fall – Yosemite Fall – El Capitan. We were especially lucky to see a 🐻 that day. Checked out Black Gold McDonald’s, then went to Carmel for food and shopping. Carmel town is very beautiful. Day 9️⃣ Monterey to Santa Barbara Many unbeatable ocean view viewpoints along the way, stopping frequently. Day 🔟 Santa Barbara to LA Strolled and had lunch in Santa Barbara during the day, then returned to LA in the afternoon. The drive was beautiful. Today I want to share a place that's not exactly new, but their brunch menu is! This place used to be a sports bar, and now they've started serving brunch too! Surprisingly, the food is quite good! 👌 Let me tell you about what we ordered: 1⃣️Avocado Toast🥑 The avocado toast looked really nice. It's made with whole wheat bread, and the toast was perfectly crispy. I also added salmon. Their ingredients were very fresh, and the taste was great. The portion was also quite generous. The finishing touch was the addition of chili sauce🌶️, which added a lot of layers of flavor. 2⃣️Shakshouka🍅🍳 Shakshouka originates from Middle Eastern brunch. You could think of it as a brunch version of "scrambled eggs with tomatoes," but the flavor here is more complex because it incorporates... Lots of spices! The flavor is on the sour side, but I really liked it 👌 The egg on top of the tomato puree was poached, half-cooked. Their side dish of naan bread was also delicious, grilled perfectly. But I recommend sharing, because the portion is really huge! 3⃣️ Burger 🍔 This one was okay, nothing special. It had the typical burger flavor, but it's worth mentioning that the accompanying fried fries were really good 👍 Very crispy. 4⃣️ Cocktail 🍹 We ​​blindly chose two recommended by the staff, and I think Mimosas is a must-order! The CAMP in Costa Mesa has been a favorite of mine since my school days! I really love hanging out here! It’s niche and artsy, with plenty of trendy eateries. Although it’s not very big, you can also explore The LAB Anti-Mall right across the street, making it a great half-day outing option 👍 It’s been a while since I last went, and I recently discovered some new shops have opened up. Taking advantage of the weekend, I’m sharing it with you all~ There are some super photogenic art installations to check out, cool outdoor gear shops, vintage stores, and local trendy brands created by local designers~ Plus, some nice cafes 🥰 📌 Cafes I always visit every time I go 👇 1⃣️ Boba Guys - an old favorite! Haha, I’ve been drinking it from the Bay Area all the way to OC. Back when there weren’t many trendy milk tea shops, it was my white moonlight~ Sometimes when I’m in OC, I can’t help but order a cup~ 2⃣️ WIP - work in progress - I think this is the best cafe in OC. They use great beans, but try not to order weird flavors. Irvine's Little Switzerland North Lake is a very popular lakeside recreational trail and a rare tranquil escape in the city. The views here are expansive, and the lakeside scenery is fresh and pleasant, making it perfect for a brief escape from the city's hustle and bustle and enjoying some peaceful alone time. It's recommended to go at 8 AM when there are fewer visitors and the sunlight is gentle, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the tranquility of the lakeside. It's ideal for both unwinding and soothing your mind and body. The trail is family-friendly and pet-friendly, making it easy and enjoyable for walking kids and dogs. The complete loop around the lake takes about 45 to 60 minutes to walk at a relaxed, non-tiring pace. If you just want a simple stroll, a half-loop to the tennis courts and back only takes 30 minutes, which is perfect for a light recreational walk. The trail surface is flat, making the entire walk easy and stress-free, and suitable for people of all ages to enjoy a leisurely outing. Come here for a walk in your free time and spend some pleasant leisure time amidst the lake and greenery.

Farm Tanaka doesn't have elaborate landscaping, only endless rows of fields, the air filled with the fresh scent of soil and crops. The trailer slowly drives past neat strawberry and cornfields, the guide enthusiastically explaining farming techniques, while children excitedly search for the fruit hidden under the leaves. The most fun part is the picking experience; you can jump off the trailer and pick the sweetest strawberries or plump ears of corn by hand, experiencing the freshness from field to palate. When you're tired of walking around, the aroma of strawberry smoothies and roasted corn wafts from the farm shop. The souvenirs here are soil-covered fruits and vegetables and a pair of dirty hands. For children, it's a vivid nature lesson; for adults, it's a healing journey to escape the city and return to the simple beauty of the land.

For this San Francisco trip, I stayed at the San Francisco Marriott Union Square, located at 480 Sutter Street, right next to the bustling Union Square area, which is very convenient. The cable car station is just around the corner, and within a few minutes' walk, you can reach shopping centers and dining areas. 🌉 Nearby are famous attractions like Pier 39, Alcatraz Island, and various San Francisco city tours, instantly switching you into travel mode! 😄 The hotel's location is truly excellent, allowing you to solve many transportation issues on foot and easily find the places you want to visit. The entire hotel is modern and elegant in design, clean and comfortable, with a very spacious lobby that gives off a high-end urban vibe. 💼 The facilities are also very complete; the gym is huge, a dream for morning runners; the restaurant and bar are also great, with the cable car cocktail receiving high praise! Additionally, the front desk service is very patient. When I changed rooms, the staff remained as enthusiastic as ever, making me feel thoughtfully cared for. ✨ The room is super spacious—I could open two suitcases inside with plenty of room to move around! The bed is large and very soft, feeling like sleeping on a cloud, absolutely amazing. 🛌 The room amenities are comprehensive, and the shower water pressure is very comfortable, giving a high-end spa feeling. There’s a convenience store and Starbucks downstairs, and you can even order remotely and pick up directly, which is very user-friendly. My first time in Irvine, California, I was struck by the incredibly chill pace of life, especially in Costa Mesa at night – a true melting pot of Southern California's culture and style. One of the highlights of my trip was experiencing the Edwards Stadium Cinemas. Its modern and beautiful exterior, illuminated by neon lights at night, made for fantastic photos! Seeing locals chatting and walking their dogs outdoors created a super relaxed atmosphere, which was especially appealing for someone visiting the American West for the first time. Recommended Attractions 1. Edwards Stadium Cinemas This Costa Mesa cinema is a must-visit for trendy photos! The lighting is stunning at night, and the building itself is incredibly stylish. Whether you're there to watch a movie or simply to take pictures, it's definitely worth it. The hotel's location is truly unparalleled; it's a 2-minute walk to Union Square, or if you don't feel like walking, there's a streetcar stop right next door, which is super convenient. Additionally, if you have luggage, the hotel's valet staff will assist you, which is very thoughtful. The hotel's location is a significant bonus, with the cable car route to Fisherman's Wharf just around the corner, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The hotel's design has a modern feel, with some chic elements. Walking into the lobby, it might feel a bit cool, but the rooms and public areas are very cozy after renovation, and the reception staff are all very professional and friendly. During the check-in process at the front desk, you can also feel their enthusiastic service. During my short stay, I truly felt the attentiveness and friendliness of every staff member. Regarding the room type, the room I chose was both spacious and comfortable, with a bed so soft that even kids would want to take it home 😂. The room facilities are very complete, and there's an additional sofa bed available for use. The main bed, though a standard double, is spacious enough. The in-room shower facilities are spa-level, and taking a hot shower every day is truly refreshing. There are many attractions nearby, and too many options to list! I highly recommend nearby Alcatraz Island and Pier 39. For leisure, you can try The Escape Game San Francisco for some puzzle-solving fun. As for dining, there's a Starbucks right across from the hotel, plus a convenience store downstairs, which is very convenient. Once you're energized, you can try Mersea Restaurant & Bar and Blue Mermaid Restaurant; both places have excellent reputations. However, the Marriott hotel is not without its drawbacks. For example, the hotel's room rates are indeed not cheap, and another point is the queuing situation during check-in, where you sometimes have to wait. The lobby can be a bit cold, so it's advisable to bring a nice jacket just in case. Overall, the San Francisco Marriott Union Square is my top choice due to its excellent location and friendly service. If you're planning a trip to the Bay Area, you might want to consider it~ 🎒

The staff is incredibly friendly. I checked in early at 9 AM and stored my luggage there until 6 PM the next day. It’s conveniently located near Newport Beach, and Uber rides there are $15. Of course, it’s also close to the airport. I also tried the restaurant as a hotel, the Warehouse 72. The salad there is amazing. It’s always visually appealing, and since it’s just been renovated, I found many smart applications inside the room.
