If you're arriving in Hokkaido on a late flight, or catching an early one the next day, I highly recommend staying at the hotel located on the 4th floor of the New Chitose Airport domestic terminal. You won't have to drag your luggage around to catch a ride—you can just walk straight to check-in, making your trip a breeze right from day one. This time, I stayed in a double room. The space was surprisingly more spacious and comfortable than I expected. Even with two large suitcases laid open at the same time, it didn't feel cramped at all. The room was clean and bright overall, and the bed was cozy, perfect for a good night's rest. The part I looked forward to the most after checking in was relaxing at the hot spring facility, which is also located on the 4th floor of the domestic terminal. It's fully equipped with natural hot springs, open-air baths, saunas, massage services, and a relaxation lounge. Taking a soak before heading back to the room to sleep truly washes away all the travel fatigue. The best part is that New Chitose Airport is more than just an airport; it's almost like a mini shopping mall. It features a wide variety of Hokkaido souvenir shops, including popular brands like Shiroi Koibito, Royce', LeTAO, Rokkatei, and Kitakaro. You can get practically everything here in one go without having to make a special trip downtown. The dining options are also fantastic, ranging from Hokkaido ramen, Genghis Khan (grilled mutton), sushi, and seafood rice bowls to soup curry, desserts, and cafes. It's super convenient, whether you want to grab a bite right after arriving or savor the local cuisine one last time before leaving Hokkaido. Attractions you must not miss when you travel to Hokkaido! Royce Cacao & Chocolate Town, the latest chocolate theme park in Sapporo, Hokkaido, is fun! This chocolate factory will open in August 2023 and is not far from downtown Sapporo. The 1st floor is a free visit area, where you can see the chocolate making process through the glass window, more than 200 chocolate products and limited souvenirs, there is a bakery, tried chocolate bread, soft ice cream and hot chocolate! Up to the 2nd and 3rd floor is the paid experience area, there are many interactive mini-games, the children had a lot of fun. They also participated in the DIY chocolate workshop, made a giant chocolate with their own hands, added nuts and dried fruit, can also choose their own packaging, very commemorative value. This took us about 40 min from Sapporo station to get to. We took the Gakuentoshi Line and rode 11 stops to ROYCE’ TOWN Station Then we took a free bus ride from the train station to the actual factory. This was only a 5 min ride and you can probably walk it in under 10 min. Admission can be purchased online or at the door. There is NOTHING else around this town other than the chocolate factory so plan accordingly. Stay tuned for my ROYCE’ factory gift shop/bakery experience!

Accessible by JR train, a factory bus picks up and drops off at the station. The tour showcases the chocolate cultivation and production process, and includes games that children will enjoy. Delicious chocolates are also available for purchase. A visit should ideally take half a day to a full day. Free lockers are available for storing luggage before entering.

Here you can get a comprehensive tour to how a Royce chocolate made. From how the cocoas are harvested and how the chocolates are packaged and sold. There’s also a massive game room (not pictured sadly) where you can have a hands-on game experience to create chocolate. Another activity you can sign up for is the make your own Royce chocolate. I think this is where you combine your own creativity to create an artwork with different colored and size chocolate. The shop also got a lot of exclusives that aren’t available in other places! The tour was 1200yen per person.

We rented a car for 5 days in Hokkaido from June 28- July 2. Weather is already hot but still cool at night time. Went to Mt. Moiwa on our arrival day and saw the dazzling view of the city. 2nd day- Visited Makomanai Takino Cemetery where we saw MOAI Statues, Stonehenge, and hilll of the buddha and Niseko. 3rd day- we went to Shikisai-no-Oka flower fields-it was raining at the time of our visit but the flowers were already in bloom. Checked on farm tomita and the blue pond after. 4th day- we went to Otaru Canal, Royce factory, Glass pyramid, and Shiroi Koibito Park. Of course, shopping at Mitsui Outlet Park and thrift shops. It was tiring but worth it! Will visit again to check on other places and on a different season perhaps #hokkaido #japan

Had a great time at Royce Cacao and Chocolate town!! To get there, you need to take a train to Royce Town Station, then you can either take a walk there/ board the free shuttle bus! It’s super neat but since it was raining when I went, I took the bus! Admission to the museum was 1200 yen, where you can learn so much about the history of chocolate and the manufacturing process! The museum was interactive and it was really fun! In the museum, for 1500yen you can make your own chocolate which was the highlight for me! You get to choose the type of chocolate you like, and they will give you fruits and nuts as topping. At the decoration area, you get there are tons of sprinkles you can use to decorate as well! The red sprinkle is strawberry flavoured and I regret not putting more 😭 it then undergoes a cooling process and you get to bring it home in a cute paper bag 😍 If you are not interested in the museum or the chocolate making, you can still make a trip there as there is a shop and bakery area where you can get souvenirs, bread and hot chocolate which was super delicious! #sapporo #japan #chocolate #museum

When you enter, you will see a cafe, a shop, and a mold line (the process of cutting chocolate into shapes). By the way, this is free to enjoy. If you go further in, you will find an entrance to the cocoa farm zone, factory experience zone, chocolate workshop, and Royce Collection Street. You can learn a wide range of things, from the process of turning cocoa beans into chocolate to the history of Royce, and there are also games using the latest digital technology, so even those who don't know much about chocolate can enjoy it regardless of age ♡ Admission fee is 1,200 yen. The experience was great! After going through the introduction of the making of Royce Chocolates, we entered a play area with interactive games and a machine where you can get free chocolates! Right outside the exit was the gift shop and cafe where you can buy exclusive Hokkaido Royce Chocolates that are only sold there and try their delicious buns, ice cream and hot chocolate!

We went on a factory tour that was fun for adults, but also incredibly fun for kids. It was actually a kind of pre-opening celebration, so we got to enjoy the factory tour, which normally costs money, for free!! The factory tour included learning about the process of making chocolate from cacao, a chocolate quiz, a place where you could learn about the process at Royce's factory while having fun (mostly just playing), and a chance to actually decorate chocolates. Making chocolate costs an additional fee, but it was worth it. There was also a shop, which sold the usual products as well as outlet items since it's directly managed by the factory. The rose garden is being renovated, and it looks like beautiful flowers will bloom in the summer. Do roses bloom so quickly?!
