This was my second time visiting Okinawa. I booked my hotel through Trip. Both hotels on my trip were comfortable and conveniently located, one in a bustling shopping district and the other on a tranquil coastline. Brightly lit stalls lined the streets, filling the air with the aroma of grilled chicken skewers, Okinawa noodles, and takoyaki. The children loved the sweet Okinawan brown sugar ice cream, while the adults enjoyed beer while soaking up the nightlife. This stop was all about the fun of "eating while walking," allowing us to truly immerse ourselves in the Okinawan atmosphere. Awase Fishing Port: A Fresh Seafood Feast For lunch on the second day, we made a special trip to Awase Fishing Port. The seafood here is fresh and affordable, with thick-cut sashimi and a fresh, sweet flavor, while the grilled shrimp and crab are perfectly cooked to perfection. The children experienced sashimi delivered directly from the fishing port for the first time and were amazed to find it even more delicious than the ones they'd had in Taiwan. Fishing boats and the ocean can be seen from the harbor, allowing them to savor the rustic atmosphere of a local fishing village while dining. Naminoue Shrine: An Immersion in History and Culture On day three, we visited Naminoue Shrine, Okinawa's most iconic shrine. Built on a high platform overlooking the sea, its vibrant red torii gates contrast beautifully with the azure blue sky and sea. The children joined us in washing their hands and experiencing traditional Japanese shrine rituals, while the adults felt the depth of history amidst the solemn atmosphere. The emphasis here is on cultural experience, ensuring that travel is not just about eating, drinking, and having fun, but also about finding peace of mind. American Village: The Sparkle and Vibrancy of Night After dark, we arrived at American Village. The vibrant neon lights, trendy brand stores, and cafes gave the illusion of being transported to a small town abroad. The Ferris wheel lit up the sky at night, and the children screamed with excitement as they rode it, while we surveyed the nightscape and absorbed the romance of Okinawa. The focus here is on entertainment and night views, offering something for both adults and children. Pokémon Center Okinawa: A Must-See for Families Our final stop was the Pokémon Center Okinawa. It's a virtual paradise for children, with a dazzling array of dolls, playing cards, and stationery that will delight their eyes. Adults can also experience the unique charm of Pokémon culture in Japan, especially with limited-edition items that draw long lines. This stop focused on parent-child interaction, ensuring children have a blast and adults can take home a souvenir. [Okinawa Fish Market Comparison] Itoman vs. Tomari Port: A Seafood Lover's On-the-Spot Review 🐟🔍 On this trip to Okinawa, as a seafood lover, I made a point of visiting two popular fish markets: Itoman Fish Market near the airport and Tomari Port Fish Market in downtown Naha, for a local comparison! ✈️🦪 Itoman Fish Market feels like a modern supermarket 🏪, with cool air conditioning ❄️ and bright lighting 💡, completely devoid of the clammy feel of traditional fish markets. Best of all, there's a large dining area 🪑 right outside the entrance, making it super convenient to open and eat right after purchase! We ordered toro 🍣, sea urchin 🌟, squid 🦑, and fresh fish sashimi 🐠, which we even had the chef cut for us 🔪. The winner is clear the moment you take a bite. There are no convenience stores or restaurants nearby, and dinner in the hotel is expensive, so I recommend getting it before you go or renting a car to eat there. #ChuraumiAquarium It's a little far from the Ryukyu Hotel, so I recommend leaving early. #FukugiNamiki If you're looking for a taste of Okinawa, you can't miss this! All rooms have ocean views and six pools are directly connected to the beach. A luxurious resort hotel where you can experience something out of the ordinary at the club lounge. We stayed in the Premier Club Room. A spacious 42 square meter room with a wide balcony. We were able to relax in a comfortable space. Premier Club Room and Suite Room guests can also use the Club Lounge. The "Twilight Bar & Lounge" from 5:30 pm is only available to those aged 13 and over, and you can spend an elegant time in an adult space. We were able to enjoy free flow from alcohol to soft drinks and a variety of appetizers. If it is an international flight, pick up your luggage and return to the domestic departure hall. Keep walking forward and you will see the Lawson convenience store. Go to the next floor on the escalator next door. Take the door on the left to exit the terminal building and reach the No. 1 bus stop. Bus No. TK02 goes directly to the hotel entrance. Get your coupons when you get on the bus, and settle with visa credit card or cash when you get off. The journey takes about an hour. 1. It is a resort hotel, so all aspects of food, clothing, housing and transportation are well arranged. From the moment you enter the door, there will be staff to pick you up and push your luggage. This time we arrived at around 1pm during lunch time on a weekday and had to wait about half an hour to get a table. I always come here to eat their "Butter Fried Fish Set", and this time is no exception. If you order the "Butter Fried Fish Set", the price will be based on the fish you order. You can choose on the small blackboard. By the time we got a seat, there was only one last item of whole fish left, which cost about 2,000 yen. First came the appetizers, which included seared sashimi and sashimi salad. The sauce was appetizing and the sashimi was fresh. Butter fried fish can be served with green sauce, yellow sauce or red sauce. This time I chose green sauce and the fish was fried on an iron plate. Lunch at Nashiro in Ryukyu Hotel & Resort Meijo Beach. I was surprised and impressed by the size and openness of the restaurant, and the variety of menu items. There were so many menu items that I couldn't eat them all in one lunch, and everything was delicious. It was a buffet that really felt like a Ryukyu Hotel. I was also surprised that sparkling wine, red and white wine were available for lunch. I was able to enjoy a leisurely lunch with a resort feel. I have never seen such a variety of items and flavors even at hotel lunches, so it was a valuable experience. I would like to go again if I have the opportunity.
