[Historical background: a patriotic spirit expressed in a blood letter] This is the former residence of Qiu Fengjia, also known as Xintai Ping Caolu and Peiyuan Hall, located in Fengjia Village, Wenfu Town, Jiaoling County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. The building was constructed in the 22nd year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty, which is 1896. At that time, Qiu Fengjia returned from Taiwan to Jiaoling with his family to visit relatives and built this residence. Who was Qiu Fengjia? He was a well-known patriot and poet in the late Qing Dynasty who resisted the Japanese invasion and defended Taiwan. He was also an outstanding educator. Born in Miaoli County, Taiwan Province, his ancestral home was in Jiaoling, Meizhou. The visit today was fantastic! This place more than met our expectations! It was super easy to find. This is so much better than a traditional zoo as most of the animals are active and you can get 5 feet from them! You stay on a sidewalk and most of the park is shaded by trees. They had lions, tigers, bears, wolves, hyenas, monkeys, porcupines, and some other animals.We had a great time!
