Square. Most of the buildings in the square are "Newari" architecture, several hundred years old, consisting of temples and palaces built with red bricks and dark wood. They are intricately carved with deities, animals, and floral patterns, making it feel like every beam and pillar is telling a story. In the square, there is the "Goddess Temple," where a little girl revered as a goddess lives. This goddess is called "Kumari." She appears at the window from time to time, and although only for a moment, it feels very sacred. There is also the old royal palace (Dhoka Palace) in the square. Inside the palace are several courtyards, each with a different style. You can see that the former kings loved various exotic styles. Many locals and tourists bask in the sun and feed pigeons in the square. The temple steps are filled with people resting, full of life. Ancient deities and modern people coexist harmoniously here. In the afternoon, we headed to the Stupa. From afar, you can see the huge white dome and the magnificent golden spire shining under the blue sky—truly spectacular! This is one of the largest spherical stupas in the world. The top is painted with four pairs of giant Buddha eyes, as if watching every corner of the world, reminding people that the Dharma is everywhere. Between the two eyebrows above the Buddha eyes is a dot, symbolizing the enlightened third eye, commonly called the "third eye." The nose of the Buddha eyes is a character representing the Nepali number "1," symbolizing unity and harmony of all things. Like many Tibetan Buddhist devotees, we walked clockwise around the perimeter, spinning a whole row of prayer wheels. The chanting and the sound of wind blowing through prayer flags filled the air, creating an atmosphere full of calm and sacred energy. In the evening, we went to a very distinctive restaurant to enjoy the traditional set meal "Dal Bhat." On the plate were lentil soup, rice, curry vegetables, and pickles, full of flavor. While enjoying the food, we watched a traditional cultural performance, where dancers performed powerful religious dances. [Annapurna Circuit ACT: My First 5000-Meter Summit] After returning from the ACT, even the smallest things feel like a blessing—taking a shower, using a hairdryer, enjoying heating, or simply breathing properly. And, of course, seeing temperatures without a minus sign in front of them. Traveling during the off-season means fewer crowds, but the trade-off is the bone-chilling cold. (If my face hadn’t been frozen, I might have actually cried.) While trekking through the mountains, I often thought to myself: Nepal truly is a sacred land. The deeper you venture, the scarcer the resources become. In the frozen world of -20°C, the only warmth comes from the precious firewood burned for a few hours in the evening at the dining hall. Returning to the room to sleep is a test of endurance, as there’s no heating at all. Yet, we spent most of our time in the mountains, interacting with the local Nepalese people. In their extremely simple way of life, I saw their contentment and a serene demeanor. Surrounded by the Annapurna range, I too found it easy to feel a sense of simple happiness. Even after returning, I haven’t forgotten. The Monkey Temple is a sacred place where Buddhism and Hinduism coexist. During the Nepal Shechen Monastery ceremony, the Khenpo took us to visit the Monkey Temple for blessings, filling us with happiness. Tips: 1️⃣ The best times for photography are early morning or late afternoon. 2️⃣ Monkeys may "help themselves," so keep an eye on your belongings. 3️⃣ When circumambulating the stupa for blessings, go clockwise. 🇳🇵 Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) This is my second favorite place, where I can watch the mountains, the clouds, and the monkeys. Unknowingly, I stayed from day to night. _ Riding a motorcycle halfway up the hill saved me from climbing most of the stairs—after all, I wasn’t here for hiking 🤣. As soon as I reached the ticket booth, I was greeted by "a bunch of monkeys"!!! As a Taiwanese, knowing the legends of the monkeys on Shoushan, I couldn’t help but feel a bit fearful and kept my distance. But observing the locals, they seemed so at ease, so I mustered up the courage to quietly watch these little beings living under the Buddha. Some were timid, some fierce, some quiet, some noisy, some greedy, some active, some adorable, and some flawed. It turns out they have various personalities and appearances. It turns out their calls are actually quite cute. For the first time in my life, I found monkeys adorable. _ This is one of the higher spots in Kathmandu, and a great choice for watching the sunset. But no one mentions that it’s also a perfect spot for night views! When the sun dipped below the mountain ridge, tourists quickly dispersed. But for some reason, I couldn’t bring myself to leave the stone steps. Looking into the distance, with monkeys hopping around, I lost track of time, and before I knew it, it was completely dark. The temperature dropped rapidly, feeling below 20°C. Gradually, the atmosphere around me began to change. Women carrying two large thermos flasks of hot tea started selling, and skillfully feeding the monkeys. The monkeys seemed to recognize her. She particularly cared for a monkey without palms, because it always lost out to others, with all the peanuts being snatched away. This touching scene for us was just an ordinary day for them. _ Turning my gaze to the city’s night view, suddenly, many local couples appeared, enjoying romantic moments 😍. It turns out this is a popular dating spot for locals 🤣. How adorable and full of life 🧡. As the temperature continued to drop, it was time for me to head down the hill, with my mind already set on a steaming hot bowl of Korean-style short rib soup 🤤.

The menu offers a wide selection of American-style dishes. Recommended dishes: Matcha frappe and white sauce spaghetti carbonara. Most importantly, the prices are reasonable.
