If you think cherry blossom viewing in Iwate Prefecture is limited to the classic spots, think again! There are plenty of "hidden" scenic spots waiting to be discovered. This time, I personally explored and highly recommend a new cherry blossom viewing location—"Kokobushi Park" located next to "Michi-no-Eki Iwate Kita Sanriku." This lesser-known but unique photo spot is perfect for avoiding crowds and enjoying the healing beauty of cherry blossoms in full bloom. Recommended Spots☑️ 1. Kokobushi Park (ここぶし石公園) This brand-new cherry blossom viewing spot is located next to "Michi-no-Eki Iwate Kita Sanriku." Every spring, the cherry blossoms bloom spectacularly along the riverside, creating a breathtaking pink corridor. During the cherry blossom season, you can enjoy a stroll through the cherry blossom tunnel during the day, and at night, the illuminated blossoms add a romantic touch. It’s suggested to arrive in the afternoon, take a leisurely walk, enjoy the cherry blossoms in the park, and then stay until evening to experience the night illumination for a different vibe. Practical Tips: · Some roads may have traffic restrictions during the cherry blossom season, so check traffic conditions in advance. · For families with kids, the park has outdoor play facilities to keep them entertained. · Must-bring items: lightweight jacket, picnic mat, umbrella (for sun protection), and a charger. Transportation Guide: The most convenient way to reach "Kokobushi Park" is by car, about a 40-minute drive from Kuji City center. If you choose public transport, take JR East to Kuji Station and then a taxi to the park. The museum showcases a wide variety of exhibits: raw amber, rare insect‑inclusions, international specimens, historical artifacts, and amber jaw‑droppers on themes of “time capsule” and “humankind’s relationship with amber”. Interactive zones include “Stone in the Sun”—experimenting with light, sound, and scent—and a hands‑on lab for physics and optical demonstrations. Rough Budget: Admission is ¥500 for adults, ¥200 for elementary to junior high students (with group discounts available) . Travel Tip: Reachable in about 10 min by bus or taxi from JR Kuji Station. A free museum shuttle is available from nearby bus stops—advance booking is recommended. Iwate Prefecture, Kuji City. Te-te-te-te-te-te-te♪♪♪ I visited with the BGM of 'Amachan' playing! So this is the beautiful sea where they dive! I heard that the northernmost Ama divers still dive here to collect sea urchins. There's a small shop above which displays the history of Ama divers and 'Amachan' goods. The café was closed, but there was a rest area with table and chairs on the top floor terrace, which had a great view. The drive along the nearby coastline was also fantastic. The Tsurigane Cave, with a hole in the rock, can be descended to the bottom. The seagulls were cute too.

Kuji Roadside Station features a farm produce stand and souvenir shop selling fresh local seafood and specialty products. It also features a tourist information center, restaurant, rest area, and free parking. While enjoying local specialties and food, you can learn about local tourist attractions and events.
