Here is a detailed travel guide to Newcastle:
1. Must-see attractions:

· George's Fish Shack: The fish and chips are crispy and delicious, located by the sea with beautiful scenery.
3. Accommodation suggestions:
• Leonardo Hotel Newcastle: Located in the city center of Newcastle, with a good accommodation environment, suitable for tourists who want to slow down their travel pace.

Pleasant Stay for Family Celebration
We visited Newcastle to surprise some family for birthdays and Father's Day. The hotel was very welcoming. The room was lovely, spacious, and clean, with the added bonus of spare toiletries provided in case you’d forgotten anything. WiFi was accessible throughout, making it easy for my husband to quickly log on for work. The breakfast was fantastic and included in the price of the weekend stay, which I felt offered excellent value for money.

The largest angel sculpture in the world
Ready to be absolutely wowed? The "Angel of the North" is one massive contemporary steel sculpture, created by legendary artist Antony Gormley. 🌅 It’s perched in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England, and trust me—it’s impossible to miss!
This beast of a landmark stands 20 meters tall (that’s like a 6-storey building!) and spreads its wings for a jaw-dropping 54 meters. That’s wider than a Boeing 767! You’ll find it at Durham Road, Low Eighton, Gateshead NE9 7TY. The best part? It’s free to visit and open 24/7—ideal for spontaneous sunset adventures with amazing views over grassland wetlands. 🌾✨
Built in 1998 as a symbol of hope during the North’s industrial transition, this angel is all about positive vibes and new beginnings. It’s no wonder millions swing by every year to snap pics of one of the most viewed pieces of public art, PERIOD.
If you’re chasing iconic outdoor sights for your fall adventures, this is pure bucket-list material. Don’t forget your camera—sunsets here are next-level gorgeous! 📸 Find travel tips, routes, and nearby stays on trip.com for your epic UK journey.

Angel of the North
#getgoing2025The Angel of the North is an awe-inspiring sculpture that left a lasting impression on me. Standing 20 meters tall, its vast wings seem to embrace the landscape, symbolizing strength and connection. Seeing it up close, I marveled at its rust-colored steel exterior, which gives it a timeless presence. Created by Antony Gormley, it’s not just a landmark but a powerful piece of art representing northern resilience.

Lovely steel work of design.
We are lucky.
I saw the Angel of the North at once.
The statue of Jill Scott and the statue of Dalek,
This is a lovely piece of art.
A very impressive feat of engineering,
The view is broad, but unfortunately,
Didn't do anything with it.
There are no toilets, cafes, children's play areas, etc.
