If you like stunning views of voe's and heather covered rugged landscapes with natural beauty like no other island ive ever been then come to Shetland. wildlife in lcludes many many birds, seals, dolphins, Orcha, Otters, Shetland pony's, rabbits and trolls. you are never any further than 3.5 miles from the sea. Top places to visit in my opinion would be St Ninians Isle, Eshaness, Rhunas Hill, Mavis Grind, Jarlshoff, vinking longship and longhouse of Harroldswick, Clickimin Broch and of course, Lerwick town. Visit the local bars and hear tradtional, live Shetland music or try the local freshly landed seafood in one of many fantastic restaurants in Lerwick. ideal for walkers, campers, nature lovers, bird watchers, History lovers and anyone who can appreciate the beauty and tranquility of Scottish island life....

Access from Bay Street is via Marcus Bethel Way, just before the Carnival Grounds at Clifford Park. The ticket office is at the gift shop inside the smaller bastion on the right, before accessing the main structure. The whole complex, comprising three forts (Stanley, D'Arcy and Charlotte) linked together, was built at the end of 18th century by Lord Dunmore at the great, and ultimately wasted, expense. There is a (dry) moat, dungeons, an underground passageway and plenty of cannons. There are information boards scattered around the place. The place offers commanding views over Nassau Harbour. It blends Nordic and Scottish maritime charm, with stone cottages, Viking history, and a stunning coastline. · - Sitting in the ship's dining room at breakfast, the view through the large glass windows was just too tempting to rush out. The gray stone houses by the harbor, the old Scottish-style buildings, the dark green lawns, and the ever-present British fog—it was like a painting. · - Of course, my favorite part was that it didn't cost a penny! Lerwick is a small town with a concentrated area of ​​attractions, making it easy to spend a whole day walking. Sharing this for those planning to visit later. 1. Lerwick Town Hall Victorian-era town hall, exterior photography is free. 2. Shetland Museum & Archives (Free) Exhibits the history of the Shetland Islands: models of Viking ships, fishing tools, traditional sweaters... The exhibits are extensive and can take an hour to explore. There are also Viking props for photos 😂 3. Fort Charlotte (Free) The ruins of a 17th-century fort. From the stone walls, you can enjoy panoramic views of cruise ships and the bay. 4. Broch of Clickimin (Free) A 15-20 minute walk to the remains of an ancient stone round tower, said to date back hundreds of years BC. 5. Knab Headland Walk (Free) A scenic walk along the cliffs. 6. On the shore of clickimin loch on the outskirts of Lerwick on the island of Shetland is a great example of a Broch a stone built round house only found in Scotland. This Broch tower still stands impressively high and around it are the remains of a number of different structures dating from around 1000 BC to 500 AD. There were said to be several periods of occupation at the site including late Bronze Age farmstead , early Iron Age farmstead and Iron Age fort . The site is open 1st April to 30 Sept Daily , 9.30am to 5.30pm 1st Oct to 31 Mar Daily, 10am to 4pm I took these pictures of my visit 🙋🏻‍♂️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
