#JulyDestinations2025 From Riga Central Station, Latvia, we took the Flixbus to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, a 4.45-hour drive. We stayed at Bali House, a guesthouse on T. Vrublevskio g. 4. The location was excellent, with the cathedral and the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania right outside. The guesthouse was clean and tidy, and it was on the street but not too noisy. #tripaway Plunge Missile base The renovated manor is obviously beautiful and they are renovating other buildings on the property so in time it could get a 5 star but at the moment the art exhibition inside doesn’t make up for it. I wish there could’ve been a historical museum inside showing the life of previous owners. Nice enough park. #tripaway

#tripaway Panevėžio Alpakų ūkis Alpaca farm. With two brother-llamas. It isa private farm, so you need to give a call before visit so hosts will set up the time for you. Entrance fee - 3 euro for adult and 2 for children. 1 euro for feed. Which is strongly recommend by me! #tripaway

The castle is located in the heart of Lake Galvey, a wooden bridge stretching into the lake before reaching the castle entrance, and the scenery on both sides is like a fairy tale — fantastic in both morning fog and sunset. The most special thing is that it is the only water Gothic red brick castle in Eastern Europe, the roof, platform with lake reflection, photography really no dead spots. The castle is mainly open from 10:00-18:00 from March to November every year (from April to September until 19:00). 🔥 Tips: Enter the front bridge around the bridge to take pictures, the castle silhouette is the most beautiful! If you want to take a slow tour you can reserve a 2-hour tour of the museum to deepen your understanding of Vytautas the Great and the history of Lithuania. ✨ Personal impressions: Trakai Castle is really worth the price, not only is great for taking pictures and taking portraits, but there are also many cultural relics exhibitions introducing the culture of the Grand Duke era. One afternoon, I climbed Gediminas Tower, and the panoramic view over Vilnius instantly became one of my favorite city views in Europe. Later, I wandered through the quirky Republic of Užupis, an artistic neighborhood filled with murals, galleries, and a unique personality unlike anywhere else I’d visited. The next day, I drove to Trakai Island Castle. Surrounded by a peaceful lake, the medieval castle looked like something straight out of a fairy tale. It was easily one of the highlights of my trip. I rented a bike from a shop near the Green Bridge (€8 for four hours) and started at the Vingio estrada, a huge open-air stage that once hosted massive Soviet rallies and now hosts jazz festivals. From there, I followed the paved path along the Neris River bend. This is a cycling superhighway—flat, wide, and smooth. The first 3 kilometers hug the river, offering views of the Žvėrynas district’s wooden villas across the water. I stopped at the Japanese garden, a small, serene spot donated by Lithuania’s Japanese community, perfect for a 10-minute meditation. Continuing the loop, you enter a denser forest section where the sound of traffic disappears completely. I saw a fox dart across the path—urban wildlife at its finest.
