Spanish Central Plateau Hike ~ La Rioja The Logroño Bridge is the oldest of the four bridges spanning the Ebro River. Built in 1882, it is 330 meters long. The bridge was built according to plans by engineer Fermín Manso de Zúñiga. Construction was spurred by the collapse of a military pontoon bridge in 1880, which killed 90 soldiers. It consists of 11 sections, each 30 meters high. The design height is approximately 8 meters relative to the river's lowest level, sufficient to withstand the Ebro's frequent floods at certain times of the year, such as those in 1775, 1831, and 1871, when the water level exceeded the bridge by one meter. The columns are 12.6 meters high, circular in shape, and covered with large iron sheets. They have two pedestrian platforms and a car lane. A total of approximately 1,106 tons of iron were used, with the cost rising to 547,479 pesetas. I went to Bar Cid in Logroño. Logroño is a hidden gourmet city in Spain. You can enjoy a bar here more reasonably than in San Sebastian. And the food is just as good as in San Sebastian! This place is famous for its bread with mushrooms like maitake mushrooms. The mushrooms themselves have a juicy taste, and although the seasoning is simple, it is very satisfying. You can go bar hopping in Logroño for less than in San Sebastian, so I think this is better. This mushroom bread was 1.7 euros per piece. The most famous of these is this bar. It's a simple pinchos of just baked shiitake mushrooms on bread, but the mushrooms themselves are so delicious! Simple things are good. That's how I feel. Each one is 1.5 euros, and wine is also cheap, so please enjoy it with it. It's crowded, but the turnover is fast so you can eat quickly. A tapas is almost half the price of San Sebastian, and the quality is the same. Logroño is in the Basque Country in Spain. There are many wineries, and in the old town there is a grape harvest festival in September, which I went to participate in. When choosing a hotel, I chose Sercotel Calle Mayor because it had good reviews and was in a great location in the old town. I'm really glad I chose this place! Great location, spacious room, complimentary bottle of wine, delicious breakfast...everything was great. There is also a parking lot next to the hotel. Logroño, the capital of the Rioja region and a city of wine and fine food, holds a grape harvest festival for about a week every autumn. Rioja is famous in Japan as a red wine producing region. There are also many bodegas (wineries), the largest of which is Bodegas Franco Españolas. Advance reservations are required, but you can enjoy a tour of the winery with tasting. I went there without a reservation, and they said they had openings from 6pm on that day. The sun sets after 8pm at the end of September, the beginning of autumn, so it was still light out, but I gave up because I had some time to spare. They are celebrated around June 11, the feast day of San Bernabe, the city’s patron saint, to commemorate the victory during the 1521 Siege of Logroño. Together with La Rioja Day, celebrated on the 9th, they form the bridge in the festive city. In 2015, they were declared a National Tourism Holiday. This date commemorates the victory achieved on June 11, 1521, during the siege of Logroño against the army of King Francis I of France and Henry II of Navarre, led by André de Foix, Lord of Asparos, and composed of Béarnese, Labotan, French. and Bajo de Navarra, to which Alto de Navarra was later added, through which he tried to reach the Castilian lands after the reconquest of the Kingdom of Navarre, occupied since 1512 by the King of Castile and Aragon.
