Hakka Tulou village is a very nice place to take a closer look at special Tulou round earth buildings. After the park car will drop you, by left side of the road behind the public toilet there is a patch to the viewing point from where you can see the entire village just need to climb a little bit for it and then can go down to the village to see it from inside. The park ticket will cost you 65元、 but it will also allow you to go inside of the main building, which well renovated and open for visitors. It can be a nice place to take some photos and also know better the way how buildings are designed inside, since this one is for tourists only and nobody leave there. Otherwise at others buildings you can see people who really is leaving there. It also a nice part of the trip to watch the local people way of leaving and also try their local herbal tea with them. At some buildings you also can find available rooms to stay for some nights to enjoy the peaceful time and escape for your crowded city life routines. There is also a river which is going through the village and which bring refreshing air.

The place give a chance to have a little camping experience, but at the same time with hotel comfort. The tent has a standard hotel bathroom and a small balcony from which you can see the river and the entrance to Yongding. Especially at evening time guests can see a part of the light show. The river’s sound can disturb some sensitive during night people, but give joy to others to listen it. BBQ grill also available to rent here for self cooking, which also can be nice camping experience.

It’s all about community in the Fujian tulou; these rural dwellings are an incredible traditional feature of Fujian province, where both round and square earthen structures seemingly rise from the ground. Built between the 12th and 20th centuries, they’re usually large and enclosed buildings with only one or two entrances, and can house up to 800 people! I spent a three-day weekend exploring a number of these old structures, wandering the wooden hallways of memorialised Tulou, as well as witnessing how locals still live their day to day lives in these Tulou buildings. 📍Fujian Province #qingmingtravel
