BERNACHON 🍫 I visited the world-renowned chocolatier! The shop is divided into two parts: one half is a café, and the other half is a chocolate shop. First, I ordered the finest chocolate cake, Gâteau du Président, and coffee at the café! The taste was refined and not overly sweet—it was the best chocolate cake I've ever had! As a bonus, I even received some chocolate 🥹 At the adjacent shop, I purchased their famous chocolates, Palet d'Or, chocolate bars, and macarons! A brief history of the city: it dates back to 50 BC when the territory of Gaul was annexed to the Roman Republic, which soon became an empire. At that time, one of Julius Caesar's generals founded a settlement on the top of Fourvière Hill, which later became Lyon. From the Romans, Lyon still preserves two stunning amphitheaters on the hill: the Roman Odeon and the Ancient Theater. Like any "aged" city, Lyon has an Old Town and more modern areas. We spent several days exploring everywhere—wandering through the streets of the Old Town, climbing the hill, and even visiting the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. Lyon has two rivers: the Rhône (the main one) and the Saône (a tributary, but no less significant). Together, they form the Presqu'île peninsula. We reached the point where these two rivers meet—a fascinating spot with rails disappearing into the water. Right there is the massive Museum of Confluences—we didn’t go inside, so I can’t say much about it. We weren’t in the mood for modernity or museums. I’m not great at taking "beautiful, romantic, rainy" photos, so Lyon might look dull in the pictures. But it’s amazing! And thanks to the rain, there were FAR fewer tourists on the streets than on sunny days. You can take a funicular to the hill, but we walked—what could be more interesting, if you have the time, than climbing somewhere via different paths? · Traboules are perhaps Lyon’s most famous attraction: these are internal passageways through buildings and courtyards that make it easier to move between streets. There are over 500 in the city, connecting 230 streets, but only a little over 40 are open to the public. Scroll through! => Before the trip, I found addresses and marked four traboules on my map, but then I read a tip: "Lyon is a city of secrets; just push doors and try to enter courtyards." Following this advice, we discovered more than 10 open traboules—I love this kind of thing! · Miraboules are dead-end traboules. They’re almost like our courtyard wells but with their own ancient Lyon charm. Lyon is fascinating for many reasons—not just its architecture and layout but also its food and even science! Food: Lyon is the birthplace of bouchons—traditional restaurants serving hearty, simple local dishes with lots of meat. There are about twenty officially certified bouchons in Lyon, but the name is used by many restaurants. They are known for their simple, cozy atmosphere and friendly interaction with the owner. Famous figures: Lyon is the hometown of the Lumière brothers and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. And Lyon is home to the oldest astronomical clock in France. The clock shows minutes, the date, the positions of the Moon and Sun relative to Earth, and the rising of the brightest stars over Lyon.

It was a short weekend getaway to Lyon, France. We began our day with a visit to the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière, perched atop a hill overlooking the city. The basilica's stunning architecture, with its mix of Gothic and Byzantine styles, took our breath away. We explored the interior, marveling at the beautiful mosaics and stained-glass windows, then climbed to the observation deck for a panoramic view of Lyon 😍😍😍 📍8 Place de Fourvière, 69005 Lyon, France 💰Free, but a small fee of €3 to access the observation deck We also wandered down to Vieux Lyon, the city’s charming old town. We explored the narrow cobblestone streets lined with Renaissance buildings and discovered some of the city’s famous traboules (hidden passageways). It felt like stepping back in time as we stumbled upon quaint boutiques and hidden courtyards 🙌🙌🙌 In the afternoon, we visited the Musée des Confluences, a fascinating science and anthropology museum located at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. We explored the diverse exhibits, from dinosaur skeletons to cultural artifacts, and learned so much about the world’s natural and human history. The building’s futuristic design is also worth seeing up close! 📍86 Quai Perrache, 69002 Lyon, France 💰 €9 We then took a leisurely walk through the Parc de la Tête d'Or, Lyon's largest park. We loved wandering around the beautiful rose gardens 🌹 , visiting the free zoo, and even renting a paddleboat on the lake. It's a perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying some fresh air amidst nature. 📍Place du Général Leclerc, 69006 Lyon, France For dinner, we dined at Les Apothicaires, a trendy restaurant offering innovative French cuisine with a twist. I would recommend the foie gras with smoked eel and the chicken cooked in hay. The unique flavors and elegant presentation made every bite memorable. 📍 23 Rue de Sèze, 69006 Lyon, France 💰€50-€70 per person We also visited to Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, Lyon's famous indoor food market. We explored the various stalls filled with fresh produce, cheeses, meats, and pastries. I would recommend trying the Saint-Marcellin cheese 🧀 and grabbing a coffee ☕️ and praline brioche at one of the local bakeries. 📍102 Cours Lafayette, 69003 Lyon, France 💰€10-€20 for snacks Lastly, we made our way to the Croix-Rousse district, known for its silk-weaving history. We visited the Maison des Canuts to learn about the silk-weaving traditions and then wandered through the area's vibrant streets, filled with murals, street art, and local artisan shops. Welcome to the Capital of Gastronomy in France. If you think French food is good in Paris, wait till you come to Lyon. We fell in love with the local bouchons—these charming bistros are the heart of Lyon’s culinary scene, serving up delicious, traditional dishes in a warm, inviting atmosphere. We came to Lyon for the food, but actually fell in love with that and everything else. Did we already mention how beautiful the architecture is here?! It’s even got it’s own petit Eiffel Tower (Tour métallique de Fourvière). It’s one of those cities you can never get enough of. Paris is immensely beautiful but Lyon is a different kind of pretty (highly recommended to do both if time permits). Also, we know that it got a bad rep last year because a viral video made rounds saying that the locals aren’t friendly. BUT we can only say quite the opposite and had such an amazing time here! #francetrip Just returned from a fantastic trip to Lyon, France, and it exceeded all my expectations! 🏙️🍷 Lyon is a city that perfectly blends rich history, vibrant culture, and incredible food. We started our visit in the old town, Vieux Lyon, with its narrow, winding streets and Renaissance architecture. The entrance to the impressive Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière was free, and the views of the city from the top were absolutely stunning. ⛪️🌟 We spent some time exploring the Musée des Beaux-Arts, where the €8 entrance fee gave us access to a vast collection of art spanning from ancient times to the modern era. The museum itself, housed in a former abbey, was a marvel. 🎨 After soaking up some culture, we indulged in Lyon’s renowned cuisine at a traditional bouchon. The coq au vin and local wine were delicious! 🍷🥘 In the afternoon, we strolled through the Parc de la Tête d'Or, a beautiful park with a large lake and a botanical garden—perfect for a relaxing walk. 🚶♂️🌳 We also enjoyed exploring the traboules, secret passageways between buildings that date back to the Renaissance. The upper church is very gorgeous, while the lower church is very simple. People usually visit the magnificent upper church. . Lyon Coliseum Built in 15 BC during the reign of Emperor Augustine, the adopted son of Julius Caesar, this theater is one of the oldest theaters in France. It has a large theater and a small theater. It can accommodate 10,700 people at its peak. It is a great place to watch the sunset and enjoy the sunshine. Great place. . Strategy tips: 1. The center of the old city is the Saint-Jean Cathedral built in the 12th century. A recommended walking route starts from the church and goes to St. Paul's Church on the north side. 2. There is a viewing platform on the south side of Notre Dame, which overlooks the scenery of Old Lyon. 3. Tickets: Free and open 4. Play time: 2-3 hours recommended 5. #timetotravel The Basilica is located on the Fouvrière hill, overlooking Lyon and there are 3 ways to get there: 1. To take the tram from Vieux Lyon to Fourvière 2. Hike (~18 mins on foot) 3. By car (~4 mins) I took the 1st option going up and the 2nd option down. I would definitely recommend taking the tram because the tram itself is another attraction in lyon (much like the peak tram in HK). The Basilica is a majestic architecture with both outstanding interior and exterior design. It is definitely worth visiting. #lyon #france #境外遊

A French restaurant with high cost-effectiveness and great atmosphere! Located next to the ibis hotel, it is a big room with many tables and many customers. We arrived at around 7 and had to wait 15 to 20 minutes. Celebrating a birthday is first class, the waiter will turn off the lights and play the birthday song, and everyone will clap. I have listened to this more than 10 times during one meal. It felt like entering a big restaurant from the 80s. The food quality was good and the portions were large. If there were not many people, you didn't need to order too much.  I just happened to see the sunset when I went there.
