Staying at Maratua Seaview Dive Resort feels like escaping to a quiet little corner of paradise. 🌴🌊 The first thing that caught my attention was the incredibly clear turquoise water surrounding the resort. Walking along the wooden jetty with the ocean on both sides instantly puts you into island mode. The resort itself has a very natural and traditional wooden design. The rooms are simple, spacious and comfortable — exactly the kind of place I enjoy staying at during a dive trip. I also loved the open common areas where you can just sit back and enjoy the slow island atmosphere between dives. And of course, food is an important part of every dive trip! 🦀 The seafood meals were definitely one of the highlights, and having freshly grilled fish while watching the sunset by the sea made it even better. Maratua isn’t about luxury shopping or busy nightlife. It’s about clear water, diving, good food and slowing down for a few days. One of the most unforgettable experiences around Maratua — visiting Kakaban Island and swimming in its famous jellyfish lake. These jellyfish are stingless, so you can actually get into the water and swim right beside them. Seeing them floating everywhere around you feels almost unreal. 😍 The lake itself is surrounded by lush forest, making the whole experience feel completely different from a normal snorkeling trip. 📍 Maratua Green Nirvana Resort, Maratua Island, Indonesia 🇮🇩 Stayed here during our Maratua trip and really enjoyed how peaceful and different this resort feels. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern, while the whole property still keeps that natural island atmosphere. One of the coolest parts is how the resort is built around the existing landscape — including the huge natural rock formations around the property. Our room was simple but very comfortable, with plenty of space and even a water dispenser inside, which was super convenient. Breakfast is buffet-style with a good selection of Indonesian dishes. Snorkel or dive at Sangalaki Island, known for manta rays and sea turtles. Return to Derawan Island for a relaxing evening. Day 3: Turtle Watching & Departure Enjoy an early morning beach walk or snorkeling. Visit the turtle conservation area (seasonal) and learn about sea turtle preservation. Have lunch before checking out. Maratua Island is a dream come true. The diving is spectacular—packed with currents, sharks, barracudas, and endless turtles. The resort itself provided the perfect, comfortable sanctuary to relax between drops. Incredible staff, beautiful views, and shockingly good coffee to fuel early morning boat rides. 10/10 recommendation for any serious diver looking for a touch of comfort in a remote location.

Hands down, my favorite spot for snorkeling in Indonesia. The most unforgettable part? Swimming with stingless jellyfish — yep, totally real and totally magical (though the area is now closed for conservation — and we love that 💙).
