The tour was fascinating, with stories about Native Americans, Confederate soldiers, and even 1920s speakeasies. The natural formations inside the cavern looked like flowing stone and frozen waves. It’s an underrated gem that combines history, geology, and adventure all in one. Definitely a summer favorite if you’re near the Hill Country. #summervacay

#summervacay Muleshoe Bend was my Hill Country wildflower fix—and then some. I visited in early summer when the bluebonnets were fading but the lake was warm and inviting. I set up a hammock by the water and spent the day reading, kayaking, and just soaking in the scenery. The campground is peaceful and offers some of the best stargazing I’ve seen in Central Texas. This place is for those who want calm, quiet, and beauty with no frills. #summervacay

Recent flooding has caused rapid currents in the Highland Lakes, with flood debris floating in the water, and bacterial levels typically rise after such events. Austin Surroundings - Underground Cave Exploration Longhorn Cavern State Park Who would have thought that just an hour's drive from Austin there would be such a wonderful underground cave park. The history of this cave is very interesting. The cave was formed about ten thousand years ago by an underground river eroding limestone. It was used by Native Americans and Southern soldiers in the early days Later, during the 1920-1930 period, the cave was used as a nightclub for local residents, complete with a band residency, so cool! We visited with a guide. When we reached the stage area of the former nightclub, the guide specially played a piece of popular music from that era through the sound system. When the music started playing in the spacious cave, the cave's natural acoustics made it the world's best sound system, instantly bringing back the old times, making it hard to resist the urge to dance.
