The true charm of this location lies in its scenic bays. The first bay is the longest, featuring a large sandy beach situated between the town's central area and the cape where the Dickwella Resort and Spa is located. ‼️ There are few places in Sri Lanka suitable for safe swimming. Large waves and underwater currents are characteristic of this coastline, so be cautious and avoid taking risks if you're not a strong swimmer. Instead, enjoy the spray of the waves and the power of nature from the shore.🙏 During the season, there is a relatively calm swimming area in this bay near the cape with the hotel. The water is clear and free of large crashing waves. However, avoid swimming too close to the cape, as the rocks are home to many sea urchins. The second bay is located beyond the cape with the hotel. It is smaller in size, and the waves are calmer. Right after the hotel, there is a small rocky pool that children will enjoy. In the morning, turtles swim into this bay, and you can swim alongside them and feed them seaweed. The center is open daily from 9.00-17.00 in winter and 9.00-19.00 in summer. Entrance fee is 500 soms. From time to time, a free guided walking tour departs from the entrance, lasting an hour and a half and conducted in Russian. You can join it at any time. But we did not join, but went “in a circle” in the opposite direction, because I wanted to see everything not in a crowd, but to “meditate” alone. Besides, near each exhibition, there is a sign with a QR code - a link to the audio guide. The center was founded in 2002 (a plot of land from the government residence was “plucked off” for it - it is behind the fence). All the major world religions are collected in a large area of the park; five white chapels have been built, which represent the five main faiths: Orthodoxy, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and Catholicism, and are located in a circle at the same distance from each other.
