🏠Accommodation recommendations
· Sydney: I recommend staying in the city center or near the beach. Areas near Darling Harbour/Circular Quay are super convenient, though the night views come at a price. If you're on a budget, choose a unique homestay in the city.
· Melbourne: City hotels are convenient for transport, or you can stay along the Great Ocean Road/Apollo Bay to experience the seaside vibe.
⚠️Important: Popular hotels in Australia sell out fast, so be sure to book in advance! Don't wait until the last minute when prices go up.
🍽️Food recommendations (tried and tested)
Seafood, steak, Australian lobster 🦞, and Australian beef 🥩 are must-haves! You can eat your fill of local snacks at the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne. Also, try affordable meat pies and fish and chips, paired with local wine/coffee ☕—it's amazing! Remember to buy bottled water if you're not used to tap water.
📸Photo guide
· Opera House: Take a photo from across the Royal Botanic Gardens or get a long shot from the ferry.
· Twelve Apostles: Shoot silhouettes against the light at sunset for a great atmosphere!
· Flinders Street Station: Yellow brick buildings with trams create a retro vibe.
· Penguin Parade: You can only watch with your eyes; no flash photography allowed! But those little footprints are just too cute 🐧.
· Sydney Tower/Harbour Bridge: The city night view is dazzling when the lights come on at night.
💡Practical tips
· Best time: September–November (spring 🌸) and March–May (autumn 🍂) have the most comfortable weather! Avoid the heat from December–February.
· Transport: Renting a car is recommended (driving the Great Ocean Road is amazing 🚗). Use flights or long-distance buses between cities. Use public transport/taxis in the city.
· Essentials: Passport, visa (apply in advance!), travel adapter (Australian 3-pin plug 🔌), and high-SPF sunscreen (the UV rays are very strong ☀️).
· Clothing: Bring a light jacket for spring/autumn, sun protection for summer, and warm clothes for winter (seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere!).
⚠️Avoid pitfalls (lessons learned the hard way)
1. Australia drives on the left! If you're driving, make sure to adapt and don't get in the wrong lane.
2. Sunscreen! Sunscreen! The UV rays are no joke and can cause sunburn in minutes.
3. Absolutely no flash photography at the Penguin Parade to protect the little guys.
4. Don't touch wild animals! Kangaroos and koalas look cute, but they can be aggressive.
5. Check business hours in advance; some shops in small towns close early.
6. Remember to tip (usually around 10% at restaurants). Card payments are very convenient.
Australia is truly a country you won't want to leave once you arrive. With the sea breeze blowing and koalas to hug, it's pure happiness! If you have any questions, ask me in the comments—I'll reply to everyone! Start planning now! 👭💕
