Melun, France
Melun is a town in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is about 41 km southeast of Paris.
In the Roman period, it was a Gallic town, originally called Meledunum. Caesar called Melun "a town of the Senones on an island in the Seine River". There was a wooden bridge on the island, which was repaired by Caesar's men.
Around 500 AD, Clovis I granted Melun to the Gallo-Roman noble Aurelianus, who fought for Clovis many times and apparently influenced his conversion to Christianity.
In 845, the Normans sacked it. Melun Castle became the royal residence of the King of Capet. Hugh Capet gave Melun to his favorite minister, Bouchard.
During the reign of Hugh Capet's son, Robert II of France, Oude, Count of Champagne, bought the city, but the king took it back for Bouchard in 999. The Chatelaine-Gautiers, who sold the city, were hanged, and Oude escaped. Robert II died in Melun in July 1031.
In July 1415, Melun was besieged by King Henry V of England, who had recently signed the Treaty of Troyes with King Charles VI of France. Melun was then in the hands of the future Dauphin of France, Charles VII, who had been deprived of his property by the Treaty of Troyes. The garrison, led by Arnaud Guillaume, Lord of Barbazin, finally surrendered to Henry V after 14 weeks of resistance until it was liberated by Joan of Arc on April 17, 1430. #EuropeanTravel #EuropeTourism #FranceTravel #FranceTourism #EuropeanTownExplore #EuropeanTown #Church

Let me go back more than a hundred years ago to be the poor but happy Barbizon painter
Barbizon is a village 50 km south of Paris. Around 1850, it is still a remote village, no church , the post office, the school, but its only two guest shops are filled with painters who come here to sketch, including Corot, Rousseau, Miller, where the charming scenery and simple folk style attract them. They lived in the GANNE inn, and they didnt have the money to pay for the room and board. They painted on the walls and furniture to cover the cost.
Today Barbizon is a world-famous art town, still the old street less than 200 meters, still retaining the traces of the year, GANNE Inn has become a municipal museum, but also in furniture and On the wall, I saw the paintings they left in the past.
In addition to the museum, the town also reflects the artist's atmosphere. The ancient stone walls are filled with impressionist paintings with porcelain tiles, and the small shops are also replica paintings and paintings.
Red ivy, cute stone houses, curved street lights, this is really a place where artists can be inspired.
