Even if I would personally recommend to spend more than one day in this incredibly beautiful Italian city, often compared to Paris for its elegance and architecture, your visit can also be the perfect easy day trip from Milan, to enjoy and admire another stunning destination while having limited time in the country! Spend one day in Turin, the first capital of Italy, rich in culture, history and beauty, just a short train or bus ride away from Milan! After reaching Porta nuova station, walk along Via Roma, the main shopping street in town and enjoy the buildings, squares and fountains along it before starting your day visit in Piazza Castello, the heart of the city, its main square, where the royal palace is located, to see the stunning baroque architecture. Walk to the nearby Palatine Gate to view almost perfectly preserved Roman ruins. Head inside the Royal Palace of Turin and/or step into the adjacent Turin Cathedral to view the home of the Holy Shroud (the relic itself is not on display), note that the royal palace gardens are free to access!! Stop for a morning coffee at a historic spot like Caffè al Bicerin to try layers of espresso, chocolate, and milk, or Baratti e Milano, for the most luxurious coffee experience in town!
