Our 12-day safari was nothing short of incredible! We were fortunate to see a wide variety of amazing animals, including the Big Five. Witnessing the great migration in the northern Serengeti was a breathtaking experience. The walking safari in Arusha National Park with a ranger was also a standout—it offered a unique perspective on nature and wildlife that's highly recommended. Our guide and driver, Zephania, was exceptional. His extensive knowledge of wildlife, nature, roads, and local culture greatly enriched our trip. He even taught us a bit of Swahili—thank you, Zepha! We appreciated his attention to our preferences, often steering away from the crowds, which allowed us to enjoy more tranquil and intimate wildlife moments. Thanks to this, we spotted some rare animals like a honey badger, a black-and-white colobus monkey, and even a black rhino! One major highlight was the hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti with our pilot, Blake Flynn. Though pricey, it was an unforgettable experience and offered stunning aerial views of the Serengeti. The accommodations exceeded our expectations with their beauty, luxury, and exceptional service. Lala Salama was a standout among them. Meals were consistently delicious, often featuring Western cuisine with a delightful Tanzanian twist. While lunch options occasionally felt repetitive, the lunch from Gnu Mara River Camp was a pleasant surprise. Meeting local tribes, including the Maasai and the people of Mto wa Mbu, was a deeply enriching experience. The tour in Mto wa Mbu with Priscka and our visits to the Hadza and Datoga tribes with Mike provided meaningful insights into local culture and traditions. Everywhere we went, people were extraordinarily kind and welcoming. From our first driver, Jackson, who treated us to a local lunch in Arusha, to the wonderful staff at the camps and lodges, everyone made us feel so at home. The in-car Wi-Fi was a great bonus during the lengthy drives, though we did notice that Coca Cola was the only soft drink provided in the car. Special thanks to Marine for her quick responsiveness—she answered all my questions throughout the trip planning process. The accommodations were superb, each one more fantastic than the last. However, I can't give 5 stars due to the guide. While he was an excellent driver and tracker, his communication left much to be desired. Whether it was a language barrier because his French wasn’t fluent enough, or simply a lack of motivation, we felt he wasn’t talkative and gave very minimal answers to our questions about the animals or the country. Ironically, we learned much more about the culture and land during the excursions in Zanzibar. Speaking of excursions, the "Visit to a Maasai Village" was a complete disappointment—a tourist trap that added no value, especially considering the high extra cost. These two downsides aside, everything else was perfect. 👍

Our group of four enjoyed six days of safari from August 21st to 26th, followed by a day exploring the Hadzabe and Datoga communities. Valerio was our guide and Vincent our driver, and they were exceptional. Vincent, calm and professional, handled challenging roads with ease, ensuring we always felt safe and relaxed. Valerio was attentive and highly knowledgeable, offering advice and explanations that enriched every moment of our trip. He went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. During the safari, thanks to Valerio and Vincent, we witnessed incredible wildlife, including the Big Five and even a breathtaking cheetah hunting scene. Our visit to the Hadzabe and Datoga communities was authentic and deeply moving. Accompanying the Hadzabe on a hunting trip gave us a unique glimpse into their lives—an intense and memorable experience. Although visiting a Maasai community wasn't initially on our itinerary, Valerio understood our interest and made it happen. His flexibility and effort added another layer of magic to our journey. I completed this hike with Daudi in August. If you're in Lake Natron and physically capable, this is something highly recommended. While the hike can be tough at times, following the guide's advice and taking suggested breaks makes it manageable. For instance, we had two separate hour-long sleep breaks—one at the halfway point and another just before the sunrise summit. The views inside the volcano were breathtaking, and descending gave us stunning vistas of the Rift Valley. It was extremely windy at the summit, so we didn’t linger long. The descent was quick, taking only 1 hour 45 minutes. The cost was $123.60, paid to Daudi in shillings, who handled the payment with the community center on my behalf. After reading other Tripadvisor reviews, I found Daudi. I initially reached him via WhatsApp at +255689061217, but due to issues with that phone, his new number is 0717282287. Daudi was outstanding throughout the entire experience—from efficiently planning the trip in our initial communication to helping with local fees at the community center. He even provided a fellow Maasai to watch over my car while we hiked and expertly guided us on the challenging drive to the volcano base. His experience was invaluable, as straying off the beaten path while driving can quickly lead to getting stuck in the sand (some visitors have reportedly been trapped for up to nine hours). Daudi’s guidance and control were crucial in navigating safely to the parking area. As a former Tanzanian soldier, I trusted and felt confident in him, and we enjoyed swapping stories during the trek. The next day, Daudi took my partner and me to a fantastic viewing spot at Lake Natron to admire the scenery and observe flamingos. He educated us about various animal tracks, and the trip ended on a delightful note when we encountered some giraffes on our way back. Daudi ensured we could view them safely. Overall, it was an incredible activity that I wholeheartedly recommend. "Soldiers never fail" - Daudi.

We were very eager to visit this volcano, but had very little time. Several companies turned us down, but guide Emanuel agreed to our plan. He organized everything perfectly and was constantly supportive during both the ascent and descent. What we saw at the top was worth all the effort! The incredible view, boiling lava, and tongues of flame from the volcano's crater were absolutely breathtaking. I recommend everyone to visit this place. Emanuel also leads tours to Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. Someday, I’ll definitely climb Kilimanjaro with him!

Overall, I had an incredible safari experience. The wildlife and scenery were breathtaking, and our guide, Daniel, did a fantastic job ensuring we saw everything we hoped to see. Once inside the parks, the experience was truly memorable. However, there are a few things I wish had been communicated better beforehand, especially for solo travelers joining various groups. For example, I didn’t realize the parks were so large or how long it would take to travel between them and within areas like central Serengeti to northern Serengeti. Some days required 12–14+ hours of driving over rough terrain, which became quite exhausting. If feasible, I’d recommend flying directly into the Serengeti instead of flying into Arusha or Kilimanjaro and spending hours driving to the parks. Personally, I would skip Tarangire if your itinerary already includes Serengeti and Ngorongoro. I felt I saw everything I wanted in these two parks, and removing another park could save significant driving time. Unfortunately, our vehicle broke down twice, which Daniel assured us was rare, though it added to the travel fatigue. All drivers hired are mechanics, allowing them to fix cars on the road—helpful, as there were many broken-down cars around. However, with six guests, a guide, a chef, and all our luggage, food, and camping supplies packed into one vehicle, it felt quite cramped. If possible, a group of four would be far more comfortable. Being a solo traveler joining different groups added logistical challenges with pickups and drop-offs. Booking through a travel agent instead of directly meant I relied on them for details and didn’t always have a clear idea of daily activities, which likely contributed to some communication hiccups. My accommodations were changed from Mvuli to Fanaka, which wasn’t great, for easier travel logistics. While I understood the reasoning, I wish I had been informed sooner. Accommodations vary widely, so ensure you fully understand what you’re booking. Some are very basic, and certain group members were unprepared for pitched tents at public campsites. If your itinerary states “camping,” clarify whether that means permanent tented lodges or actual tents at public campsites, along with details about bathrooms, showers, bedding, and facilities. Hot water is limited at some accommodations, often lasting only minutes, so use it wisely and wash hair first. On a positive note, the Sightseeing Lodge in Serengeti and Serena Lodge in Ngorongoro were phenomenal. The staff were outstanding, the settings were extraordinary, and being inside or near the parks made a big difference. I stayed in both accommodations solo while my group stayed elsewhere, but they were welcoming and luxurious. Sightseeing Lodge features luxury tents with functional toilets, indoor/outdoor showers, and guards to escort guests at night due to nearby wildlife like buffalos and monkeys. You can hear animals at night wherever you stay, so I suggest bringing earplugs or a sound machine if you’re noise-sensitive. Others in my group struggled to sleep because of wildlife sounds and voices at tent sites. Serena Lodge’s location on the Ngorongoro Crater rim provides stunning views with monkeys, elephants, and other animals visible from your room. I highly recommend staying here for more than one night and even taking a break from safari to relax—it's truly gorgeous. The meals prepared by Chef Rashid were simple but delicious, typically consisting of chicken, vegetables, rice, chapati, and fruit. If you’re specific about coffee, bring your own packets, as alternative milk wasn’t available on the trip. Some practical travel tips I learned: · Carry cash before leaving Arusha for tips, small purchases, and unexpected expenses. · Pack all essentials in advance—park entrances only have souvenir shops, and even something like toothpaste could lead to a lengthy detour. Note, Arusha Airport lacked stores for last-minute buys. · Ngorongoro can get cold, so dress warmly. · Choose fitted hiking or travel pants to avoid dragging in dust or wet bathroom floors. For women, I suggest carrying female pee cups with absorbent pads for squat toilets. · Pack a bandana for hair/mouth, wet wipes, tissues, hand sanitizer, and allergy medication. Nasal saline rinse is great if you have dust sensitivities. · Bring electrolyte packets, a pocket fan, and cooling towels. · Download audiobooks and podcasts beforehand since roads are too bumpy for reading, and conversations can be difficult due to noise. WiFi and service are spotty, so streaming isn’t reliable—my Solis hotspot didn’t help much either. · Leave extra early for the airport, as traffic can be overwhelming. A ride meant to take 40 minutes took us over two hours, and I nearly missed my flight. Despite logistical difficulties, the safari itself was incredible and absolutely worth it. Daniel was a dedicated guide who worked hard to ensure the best wildlife sightings. Alex and his team were also very responsive and kind, addressing questions or issues genuinely. My concerns largely stem from unclear expectations and logistical communication rather than the people themselves. Ultimately, my biggest advice is to ask for an extremely detailed itinerary if booking via a third-party travel agent. Confirm accommodations, clarify camping options, driving distances, group size, pickup/drop-off logistics, airport transfers, and meal arrangements. Knowing what I do now, I’d focus less on packing in many parks and spend more time in or near Serengeti. Once there, the incredible wildlife and scenery truly make the trip unforgettable.

We recently completed the sunrise hike up Ol Doinyo Lengai with our Maasai guide, Yohanna. He met us during dinner to introduce himself and go over the gear and schedule. Following his advice, we began our ascent from the mountain's base at 11 PM, which allowed us to reach the summit by 5:20 AM, just in time for first light and sunrise. Yohanna proved to be an excellent and highly experienced guide, showcasing remarkable knowledge of the safest routes for hikers of our ability. (He undertakes this climb every few weeks with groups during the dry season.) He was patient and encouraging, ensuring we took our time, rested when needed, and fueled up with food and water to maintain our energy – pole pole! During our ascent, rest stops turned into memorable moments, as we talked about Maasai culture, admired the incredible starlit sky free from light pollution, and watched the lights of other groups making their way up. Though "old but strong," we were the first group to reach the summit in complete darkness. We then explored the volcano rim to the sunrise side, all while listening to the gurgling sounds of the active volcano. At the summit, we layered up to keep warm, marveled at the stars, and took in a breathtaking sunrise. When the clouds finally cleared, we were astounded by how steep and far the land descended below us! The hike itself, both the ascent and descent, was steep and challenging, with plenty of loose stones. It was by no means easy; we didn't finish until 11:15 AM, completing a grueling 12-hour nighttime hike without sleep. Looking back, I realize I should have prepared more and not solely relied on my usual fitness level. Regardless, it was an incredible achievement and a thrilling adventure that we could not have done without Yohanna's expertise, care, and guidance. We highly recommend him!

We went on an amazing hike with our guide Abraham. On our way to the volcano, we were lucky enough to spot a striped hyena. At the summit, we saw both a klipspringer and an eland, which we decided to nickname Abraham the Eland (not to be confused with the incredible Abraham the human). I’d absolutely recommend this hike with Abraham—he’s so patient and never tires of answering all your questions.

My father and I spent 9 incredible days exploring Tanzania, and we couldn't have wished for a better experience. We’ve had an excellent experience with Golden Trips so far. Tarangire was stunning, featuring some amazing wildlife sightings, including a very young elephant alongside its mother. The Serengeti has been a major highlight: we witnessed a lioness hunting, spotted cheetahs twice, and saw a leopard resting on a rock. Although we tried to catch the migration at the river, luck wasn’t on our side that morning. One of the most unforgettable moments was the night hike on Ol Doinyo Lengai. Though physically challenging, it was truly breathtaking and something we’ll cherish for years to come. We also appreciated the organization's flexibility, especially when we raised concerns about one of the camps. They resolved the issue by arranging alternative accommodation for two nights at no extra cost. The replacement camp was in a fantastic location and, more importantly for us, exceptionally clean. We were very impressed by how the situation was handled. Communication throughout the trip has been excellent, with prompt responses to our questions and genuine efforts to accommodate our requests. While we still have the Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar to explore, we’re thrilled with the itinerary, organization, and experiences so far. We can’t wait for the rest of this incredible adventure!

I had a wonderful experience with Asili Explorer. We did a four-day group safari, which included a night in a lodge and two nights camping in a tent. The entire trip was seamlessly organized—Joe picked us up from the airport and even adjusted for our delayed flight when dropping us off. We booked a tour featuring a 2-day Kilimanjaro hike followed by safari adventures. Although there was a minor issue at the beginning, Geoffrey ensured our Kili hike was enjoyable, even recovering a bag I had left behind. The highlight of the trip was meeting Hagai. Our Tanzania safari with Marvels of Africa surpassed all expectations. The itinerary was thoughtfully planned, covering Ngorongoro Crater, Central Serengeti, Northern Serengeti, and a visit to a Maasai village. The accommodations were excellent, and everything was seamlessly coordinated. The wildlife experience was extraordinary—26 lions, 3 leopards, 12 cheetahs, 2 rhinos, and countless elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, topis, antelopes, warthogs, and more. Highlights included a lion drinking water, a large lion pride with cubs, a leopard with its kill in a tree, and a cheetah mother with her week-old cubs. In Northern Serengeti, the Great Migration river crossings were a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle we were lucky to witness multiple times. A huge part of our experience was thanks to our guide Eugen. His vast wildlife knowledge, sharp understanding of animal behavior, and incredible timing and positioning were key to these amazing sightings. He knew when to wait, when to move, and how to maximize our chances of seeing something extraordinary. Marvels of Africa excelled in planning, accommodation choices, and safari execution. Everything was flawlessly put together, allowing us to focus entirely on immersing ourselves in the adventure. From our first game drive in Ngorongoro to the predators of Central Serengeti and the Great Migration in the north, this was a Tanzania safari we will cherish forever. Highly recommended.

Our experience was absolutely fantastic—we saw all the animals we hoped for and more, including leopards, rhinos, jaguars, many giraffes, elephants, and hippos. We opted for the 5-day/4-night package covering Ngarere NP, Serengeti NP, Ngorongoro Crater NP, and Lake Manyara. It was a fantastic experience where we got to see the Big Five and many other animals. The tour guide was great, and the hotels were good, except for Ngare Lodge. The airport transfers were smooth, and the tour reception was very welcoming. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Highly recommended tour group.

I had the best experience with Navio Safari. I booked a tour to climb Oldonyo Lengai, a volcano near Arusha city. Everything was well-organized - my guide Johnson picked me up at the agreed location, we drove to the volcano, climbed it, and returned. It was truly the most breathtaking and wild encounter with nature I’ve ever had; absolutely stunning! The organizers, Eric and Johnson from Navio, were some of the kindest and most welcoming people I’ve met. They are polite, friendly, and highly professional. I highly recommend giving them a try if you're in Arusha and looking for a safari adventure!

Diana Tanzania Safaris offers a six-day safari tour that’s truly spectacular. Watching the sunrise and wildebeest roam across the expansive Serengeti savannah is an indescribable experience. Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro are equally breathtaking. The driver was highly experienced and accommodating. Everything was clean and comfortable. A standout memory for our family was visiting the Maasai Cultural Village. Both the food and service were outstanding, making the experience well worth the money.

Wildcats Safari provided an incredible experience. I had the chance to visit Lake Natron, a fascinating spot before heading to the Serengeti. Along the way, we passed four stunning mountain peaks, with Ol Doinyo Lengai being the highlight. Wildlife sightings were abundant, including giraffes, gazelles, ostriches, zebras, and wildebeest, easily visible throughout the journey. Amos, the owner and organizer, showcased his expertise and experience, which were apparent throughout the safari. The vehicle Wildcats chose was excellent, especially given the less-than-ideal road conditions. I wholeheartedly recommend Wildcats to anyone seeking a reasonably priced, comfortable, and friendly safari experience in Tanzania.
