2026 Moriguchi Travel Guide: must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transport & travel experiences (updated in July)

Don’t just head to Kyoto during cherry blossom season—Osaka has romantic cherry blossom spots too. Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, located in Moriguchi City, was the main venue for the 1990 International Garden and Greenery Exposition. After more than 30 years of development, it has become the lungs of the city and a popular place for nearby residents to exercise and picnic. It is also one of Osaka’s well-known cherry blossom viewing spots during sakura season, especially the Somei Yoshino cherry trees planted around the lake, which create a stunning scene. Luckily, when I visited in early March, I was able to catch the tail end of the Kawazu-zakura bloom ahead of time. Along the cherry blossom path beside the golf practice range, the blossoms filled the walkway with a romantic atmosphere. What makes it even more special is that before the Kawazu-zakura had fully finished, the Okame-zakura had already eagerly begun blooming in relay. There’s an interesting story behind these Okame-zakura. In 1947, British ornithologist Collingwood Ingram crossbred Taiwan cherry and Fuji cherry to cultivate this variety, whose flowers bloom facing downward like little hanging bells. Today, famous places to see Okame-zakura include in front of Mitsukoshi in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, Tsurumi Ryokuchi in Osaka, and also Washington, D.C. in the United States. With their deep pink and light purplish-red hues, they are even more photogenic than the cherry blossoms people usually imagine. If you visit Tsurumi Ryokuchi, it’s also recommended to check out the huge greenhouse, Sakuya Konohana Kan, which houses 2,600 kinds of flowers, as well as the landmark windmill and the hill area. Nakanoshima Park, located in the heart of Osaka, is as quiet as an "oasis." Surrounded by the Dojima and Tosabori Rivers, it exudes a strong European atmosphere. Whether walking, picnicking, or reading to relax, the evening lights and their reflections on the river make it hard to leave. Minoo Falls + Ooedo Onsen Minoo Onsen is the most popular healing route near Osaka. Walk along the maple leaf trail to the waterfall to feel the grandeur of nature; then soak in the hot springs to wash away fatigue. During the autumn foliage season, a dreamy healing journey awaits you. Settsu Gorge Park, located in Takatsuki City, is called "Osaka's Little Kyoto." Rivers, valleys, and forests intertwine, making it perfect for camping, hiking, and barbecues. 🥢 Chef Yanagi 📍 Moriguchi, Osaka (1 minute walk from Moriguchi-shi Station on the Keihan Line) This time, I ordered ・Assorted sashimi (otoro, chutoro, kamatoro) ・Sea bream sprouts and green onion rolls ・Boiled young bamboo shoots ・Chutoro with yam ・Horse sashimi (marbled, red and white, lean) ・Half horse sashimi yukke ・Firefly squid ・Meat wrapped in egg ・Tempura assortment ・Red sea urchin ・Awaodori chicken wings ・Chorizo ・Seasonal vegetables grilled in olive oil ・Nikujaga (meat and potatoes) ・Shrimp, broad beans, and new onion tempura ・Prosciutto spasala ・Assorted pickles ・Chutoro fuku negi thin rolls ・Sweet potato chips ️📝 They served me a variety of dishes, and they were all really delicious and I was constantly impressed✨️ They use ingredients from Kyushu and have a very rich menu of seasonal ingredients☺️ . . . . Yanagi-san's specialty horse meat sashimi is a special product that arrives refrigerated from Kumamoto✨️ It's nice to be able to enjoy various parts of the horse meat, including marbled, lean, and red and white meat. The condiments, both ginger and garlic, go well with it! It's delicious and goes well with alcohol🥰 The horse meat sashimi yukke has a melting texture with a strong sauce. The mellowness of the egg yolk adds depth to the flavor🙌 The otoro and kamatoro in the sashimi platter melt in your mouth✨ The chutoro yam sauce also has a gentle flavor and I couldn't stop eating☺️ The spring-like young bamboo shoots are soaked in broth and have a comforting taste💗 The tempura also has a wide variety of wild vegetables, such as cod buds and koshiabura, and I was able to try some new flavors. The shrimp, broad bean and new onion tempura has a spring-like flavor with plump shrimp, soft broad beans and sweet new onions. It's also special to eat it freshly fried with salt! The meat and potato stew has an exquisite balance of tenderly simmered meat and well-seasoned potatoes. The gentle sweetness of the broth spreads and has a comforting taste 💗 The Awaodori chicken wings are crispy and juicy inside. The red sea urchin was wrapped in a Mongo squid for a luxurious bite 💕 There was a wide variety of fresh fish, such as sea bream sprouts and green onion rolls and medium fatty tuna thin rolls, and I was satisfied until the end ✨️ The sweet potato chips are made from a type of sweet potato called Amantakun, and the gentle sweetness of the honey and the saltiness are exquisite, making it the perfect final dish. It was freshly fried, fragrant, and incredibly delicious! . . . . I ate a lot and was full💗 Every dish was carefully prepared, and you could really feel the quality of the ingredients and the seasonal flavor🙌 The warm service from the staff was also very pleasant, and it's no wonder this popular restaurant has so many customers! Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, which once hosted the International Garden and Greenery Exposition, is one of Osaka's cherry blossom viewing spots. While it may not be as famous or crowded as the Mint Bureau or Osaka Castle, the park spans an expansive 123 hectares. From March to April during cherry blossom season, various types of cherry blossoms, including Kawazu-zakura, Somei Yoshino, and Sunshine Sakura, bloom in succession, creating a romantic and picturesque scene. Thanks to its vast size, Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park allows visitors to enjoy cherry blossoms without feeling overcrowded. Additionally, you can explore other flowers in the greenhouse and admire garden landscapes inspired by countries around the world, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely outing. Getting there is also very convenient. Simply take the subway to Tsurumi Ryokuchi Station, and the park is right outside the station.

Komeda Coffee Tsurumi Ryokuchi is located in a parking lot right next to Tsurumi Ryokuchi, and parking is free for 90 minutes. For breakfast, bread is included when you order a drink. The "Daisuki" plate (¥590) is a favorite for kids. It comes with sandwiches and rice chicken, and the juice is a cute mini size. I didn't expect that Osaka Sushiro can actually eat Caleb chips😆 Although Sushiro has increased its price, it is cheaper than in Hong Kong because of the low price of Japanese yen. Eating sushi in Japan must be fresher and tastier than in Hong Kong (in fact and psychologically), plus many sushi styles are not available in Hong Kong. Bunroku Tsutsumi Chami is located a one-minute walk from Exit 3 of Moriguchi Station on the Osaka Municipal Subway Tanimachi Line. This restaurant has a hideaway feel, and you can enjoy Japanese cuisine at your leisure. The dishes are all made with carefully selected ingredients, making the most of them. The clay pot rice that I couldn't finish was made into onigiri and I was able to take it home! 🍙 I was very touched by the thoughtfulness. In addition to the dessert of the course, I was given a Japanese sweet called sakura mochi. It looked gorgeous and tasted great. Tsurumi Flower Exhibition Memorial Park, Ryokuchi, Osaka🍃🌻🌸 Anyone who loves flowers should visit this park; it's incredibly spacious and inviting. There's a garden with beautiful flower beds, a Dutch-style windmill hill, a dog park, and a lake in the front. I was able to enjoy the park for free and spent a whole summer here. It's conveniently located in Osaka, not in the busiest city center, but in Tsurumi Ryokuchi. Most importantly, the park is easily accessible and close to Tsurumi Station, so I didn't have to walk far. Just arriving at the station is captivating, with colorful flower paintings and potted flowers. From summer to autumn, you'll find a wide variety of blooming flowers. It's absolutely stunning, entry is completely free, and there's a fantastic food market filled with homemade treats cooked up by locals. Plus, getting to the park is a total breeze! I highly recommend getting off at Tsurumi Ryokuchi Station, as it's much closer to the windmill area. The park itself is massive and features plenty of gorgeous flower zones to explore.
