After leaving Srirangapatna, we drove to Mysore’s iconic Chamundi Hill to visit the renowned Chamundeshwari Temple. 🏛️ About Chamundi Hill & Chamundeshwari Temple: Goddess Chamundeshwari: The patron deity of Mysore and an incarnation of Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva (specifically the wrathful form of the warrior goddess Durga). Legend says she defeated the buffalo demon Mahishasura on this hill, protecting the land. 1,000 Steps & the Giant Nandi Bull: Standing at about 1,000 meters above sea level, pilgrims historically climbed 1,000 stone steps to reach the top. Near the 700th step stands a giant Nandi—Lord Shiva’s loyal mount—carved from a single block of black granite. It is not only massive but also adorned with intricate carvings of garlands and bells. We were stunned by the massive crowds when we reached the summit! We found out it was a special festival honoring Parvati, Shiva's wife, and devotees had flocked from all directions to seek blessings. Our local guide suggested the Darshan VIP/Fast-track Lane. Taking advantage of the weekend, I planned a day trip to Mysore (Mysuru), located about 150 km from Bangalore! This city is not only famous for its opulent palaces but is also a major historical and religious center in South India. 🏛️ A Quick History Lesson on Srirangapatna and Mysore: Srirangapatna: Situated on an island in the Kaveri River near Mysore, it served as the capital of the Mysore Kingdom in the 18th century and was a key fortress in the fight against British colonial expansion. "The Tiger of Mysore" Tipu Sultan: The 18th-century ruler of Mysore, celebrated for his bravery and for introducing early military rocket technology against the British. He died heroically in 1799 while defending the Srirangapatna fort during the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple: One of South India's most prestigious Hindu pilgrimage sites dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It features the classic Dravidian-style towering gateway (Gopuram) and houses an image of Vishnu in a reclining posture (Ranganatha). Leaving Bangalore, I dealt with the usual Indian traffic—lots of stopping and starting—taking a full 3 hours to reach the destination. However, the scenery and rich historical sites along the way were more than enough to make up for the long drive! 📸 Memories from the Day: Pic 2 | A Roadside Chai Break ☕ After 3 grueling hours in traffic, a hot cup of fragrant Masala Chai from a roadside stall was exactly what I needed to recharge! Pic 3-4 | Tipu Sultan’s Final Stand ⚔️ Visited the memorial marker where Tipu Sultan fell (Tipu's Death Place). The stone is inscribed with: "The Body of Tippu Sultan Was Found Here." This marks the exact spot of his death, not his burial site (his true final resting place, the Gumbaz, is located a few kilometers away in the royal cemetery). Looking up close at the Gopuram, the intricate carvings of deities and mythological figures are absolutely breathtaking in their detail. I even saw a couple here, so I secretly snapped a few shots...the atmosphere was perfect. Besides that, there are various photos, from before dawn, to after sunrise...with the light changing angles. I've added another 3-4 photos. Actually, I have photos of Jal Mahal at every time of day. Sunrise, sunset, afternoon light, nighttime, views along the water, high angles...there are so many. But I've posted some of them before. I've even posted some morning shots. But today, I've added more, combined with many photos I haven't posted yet, and mixed them together. My photos might be simple, ordinary, not flashy, and not very eye-catching, because on many trips I don't actively wait for those magical moments. And sometimes I don't even bring good luck with me. The sky was sometimes cloudy, sometimes it rained. And I don't have that much money to travel often. I am so grateful to visit this Tibetan temple in Mysore, India. Being in the Namdroling Monastery Golden Temple, I feel peaceful and tranquil. I get to see a lot of art, painting, and sculpture of Tibetan Buddhism. In this trip, I learn about their daily practice and even meditate with them in the morning. After meditation and praying, my friend and I went to the restaurant inside the temple. They serve delicious vegetarian food. I also get to taste the traditional Nepali cuisine, called Laphing. They also serve other Indian food like momos. After lunch, we went to the market beside the temple to buy some local attires, handmade bags, and scarves enveloped with the culture of India. We really have a nice day here. I had some time before my flight, so I visited Mysore Palace again. I was lucky to see a different courtyard this time. An Indian family asked me to take their photo, and in return, they took a photo of me. In the background are Indian students. Indian students and young children eagerly speak to me in English. I'm sorry I can't understand most of what they're saying... It would be more fun if I could speak with them.

Namdroling Monastery Golden Temple is one of the largest settlements of Buddhist people in india , it’s a really nice place under their culture and spend time with them. Highly energising and well-kept Buddha monastery. Very vibrant and inviting for interior tranquilly. Large meditation hall. Enough signs on communal facilities such as bathrooms, drinking water, and so on. It's sad to see guests treating this location like any other tourist attraction and not respecting the advice to remain quiet and silent. I noticed that children were allowed to run about even inside the meditation hall. I'd like to see everyone follow the rules and guidelines of the place they're visiting.
