Nessebar is one of those seaside towns where history and a beach holiday somehow work together perfectly. The old town sits on a small peninsula connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land. Once inside, you’re surrounded by cobbled streets, traditional houses, ancient ruins and historic churches. And the Black Sea is almost always just a short walk away. That combination would easily bring me back. You can spend the morning wandering through centuries of history, stop for a long lunch overlooking the water and then spend the rest of the afternoon by the sea. I’d especially like to return outside the busiest summer period, when the old streets are quieter and you can enjoy the atmosphere without rushing. Nessebar isn’t only somewhere to visit once while staying on the Bulgarian coast. It’s a place I’d happily walk through again. We loved the water park soo much , we went twice.. It’s a cashless site . You charge up your watch type thing with euros , and get it refunded at the end if you don’t spend it all . We spent (two adults, two teenagers) about 220 euros .. that’s tickets , a decent cooked lunch with drinks plus four bottles of water . Really clean , plenty of sun beds (free of charge) . We visited on a Saturday and a Monday.. less queues on the Monday. Will go again.

If you’re staying in Sunny Beach you have to take a trip to UNESCO world heritage site Nessebar. The ancient city hosts beautiful architecture, as well as lovely restaurants, bars, and the best coffee we had on our trip!! You can easily spend a day just wandering around, seeing the sights. There also lots of market stalls with local artists and businesses if you wanted to do a bit of holiday shopping. A really lovely spot, away from the action of Sunny Beach, highly recommend a visit. There’s a land train or regular busses to get there, and depending where you’re staying you can walk there (which is what we did)

Like a little Rome, this peninsula is small in size but full of ancient history dating back to ancient Erada. There used to be 51 churches, but now about 20 retain their original appearance. The port has some old wooden fishing boats and yachts, and is a great place for a stroll. Take a stroll through the old town, feel the rich history, and enjoy the beautiful scenery in front of you. It is really beautiful here, don't miss it, highly recommended.
