Newark travel guide and discussion

#sunrisescenes When I am traveling and not working, I often schedule my days around sunrise and sunset. I think I value them so much because I live in a budget-friendly apartment in Tokyo. In old, affordable neighborhoods, the streets are narrow and cluttered, so you rarely see much of the sky, and spacious views are typically reserved for expensive apartments. Whenever I travel to the countryside, or to cities with wider roads and hills, I always make an effort to catch the sunset or sunrise. I have also discovered that airports, with their wide and clear open spaces, are excellent spots to watch the sunset. It also gives you a form of compensation for waking up early to catch a morning flight. What do you find yourself valuing while traveling because you do not get to enjoy it in your daily life? 🛫 Newark Liberty International Airport 📍Newark, NJ 07114, United States ☎️ +1 973-961-6000 #hotdiscussions #airport #photospot

If you’re flying internationally from South Korea and want something beyond the typical low-cost-carrier experience, there are three names you’ll probably come across: Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Air Premia. But they’re actually quite different. Two are traditional full-service airlines with huge international networks, while the other offers a more simplified hybrid/premium-value model that can sometimes give you long-haul comfort without the same price tag. Here’s how I would look at them when booking a trip in 2026. 🔵 Korean Air — Best Overall Full-Service Experience Korean Air is South Korea’s flagship carrier and has by far the strongest global network of these three. 🌏 Extensive international network 🍱 Complimentary meals on eligible international services 🧳 Full-service baggage allowances depending on fare/route 💺 Multiple cabin classes 🛋️ Lounge access for eligible passengers ⭐ SKYPASS frequent-flyer program 🌐 SkyTeam member It’s particularly attractive if you frequently travel internationally and want to collect miles and maintain airline status. 💡 Best for: Long-haul trips, business travelers, frequent flyers, connecting journeys and travelers who prioritize a full-service experience. 🔴 Asiana Airlines — The End of an Era For decades, Asiana Airlines has been Korean Air’s biggest full-service competitor and became well known for its warm Korean hospitality. But 2026 is a very important year for Asiana. Korean Air is scheduled to absorb Asiana, with the integrated Korean Air planned to launch on December 17, 2026. (Korean Air) That means Asiana as we know it is reaching the end of its independent journey. If you’re flying before the integration, Asiana still offers the traditional full-service experience travelers know: 🍱 International meal service 💺 Comfortable full-service cabins 🧳 Checked baggage according to fare/route ⭐ Asiana Club 🌏 Extensive Asian and international network 💡 Best for: Travelers who already have an Asiana booking or Asiana Club benefits, and anyone wanting to experience the airline before its integration into Korean Air. ⚠️ Important for late-2026 travelers: Keep checking your booking and official airline notices as the integration approaches. 🟠 Air Premia — The Interesting Middle Ground This is where the comparison becomes more interesting. Air Premia isn’t really trying to be another Korean Air. Instead, it offers a hybrid model focused heavily on international flying. Its network includes destinations in Asia as well as longer routes such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York/Newark and Honolulu. (Air Premia) The airline offers two main cabin concepts: 💺 Economy ✨ Wide Premium Wide Premium gives passengers additional space and benefits without necessarily jumping all the way to traditional business-class pricing. 💡 Best for: Value-conscious travelers who want more comfort on longer flights but don’t necessarily need a traditional premium airline experience. 💺 Air Premia Wide Premium Is Worth Checking If you’re taking a long flight, don’t compare only Air Premia Economy with Korean Air or Asiana Economy. Check Wide Premium too. Depending on the route and fare, it includes benefits such as: 🧳 Increased baggage allowance 🍽️ Meals and beverages ✈️ Dedicated check-in ➡️ Priority boarding 🧳 Priority baggage handling 💺 More spacious seating On long-haul routes, this can create an interesting middle option between standard Economy and the much more expensive Business Class experience. (Air Premia) 🧳 Don’t Assume Everyone Gets 23 kg This is one detail from airline comparison graphics that I would be careful with. Baggage allowance depends on your airline, route and fare type. For example, Air Premia’s Economy Lite can include 15 kg rather than 23 kg on some non-Americas itineraries, while its baggage rules for Americas routes differ. (Air Premia) So always check the actual ticket conditions before booking. ⭐ What About Miles & Airline Alliances? This can make a BIG difference for frequent travelers. 🔵 Korean Air SKYPASS + SkyTeam 🔴 Asiana Airlines Asiana Club, currently transitioning as the airline integrates with Korean Air 🟠 Air Premia Operates independently rather than belonging to one of the three major global airline alliances. If airline status, lounge access, partner flights and mileage earning are important to you, Korean Air has a major advantage. If you fly only occasionally and care more about the cash price and onboard comfort, Air Premia can become much more interesting. 💰 Which One Is Cheapest? Don’t automatically assume: Korean Air = expensive Asiana = expensive Air Premia = cheap Airfares change constantly. I’ve seen situations where a promotional full-service fare can be surprisingly competitive, while adding extras to another ticket reduces the price difference. Always compare the final cost including: 🧳 Baggage 💺 Seat selection 🍱 Meals 🔄 Change/refund conditions 🕐 Flight schedule ✈️ Direct vs connecting flight 🏆 So Which Would I Choose? For the strongest overall full-service experience: 🔵 Korean Air For existing Asiana passengers and members during the transition: 🔴 Asiana Airlines For long-haul travelers looking for comfort at a potentially lower price: 🟠 Air Premia For frequent flyers who care about alliance benefits and miles: 🔵 Korean Air For someone who doesn’t care about airline status and simply wants a comfortable direct flight: 🟠 Definitely compare Air Premia before booking. 💡 My Biggest Booking Tip Don’t choose an airline just because one ticket is ₩50,000 cheaper. For a two-hour flight, that difference might matter. But on a 10–14 hour journey, seat comfort, baggage, departure time, meals, mileage earning and whether the flight is nonstop can easily be worth paying a little extra for. And with Asiana disappearing into the integrated Korean Air in December 2026, Korea’s airline market is entering a completely new era. (Korean Air) Compare the whole journey—not just the price on the first search screen. ✈️🇰🇷 #koreanair #asianaairlines #airpremia #koreanairlines #southkorea #airlinereview #skypass #skyteam #frequentflyer #koreatravel #traveltips #aviation

Getting There - There are multiple ways in getting to Newark International Liberty Airport such as taking the airport shuttle or ride shares. Food & Restaurants - There are quite a variety of restaurants and fast food options in Terminal C which is newly renovated. Shopping - There are also duty free shops where you can grab a few items before boarding the plane. Newark International Liberty Airport is slightly less busy as compared to New York LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport. Navigating through the different terminals in Newark Airport is really hassle-free and easy to do so. You can either take the air trains or shuttle buses within the airport. However, unlike in JFK airport, there is no flat fee charges for ride share rides into Manhattan City. #urbanexplorer #MyTripVlog

Very satisfactory stay in Holiday Inn Newark hotel. The staff are friendly though they gave me the wrong hotel cards initially so I had to go down to the lobby to have it swapped. But overall the stay was good and the complimentary shuttle service to the airport was perfect. It made our journey to the airport so fuss free. Would recommend a stay here if you have a early morning flight to catch.#MyTripVlog #urbanexplorer

geographical location 160 Frontage Rd, Newark, NJ 07114 Very close to the airport Environment: 26 square meters, feels comfortable, especially the bed is very comfortable and soft Suitable for people suffering from jet lag after a long-distance flight of more than ten hours The sheets are very skin-friendly, and I fall asleep when I touch the pillow. Experience: The water in the bathroom flows very slowly, so you have to stand on top of the bathtub to wash. You can imagine this scene in your mind. In short: suitable for long-distance flights or transfers #NewYorkHotel #NewYorkTravel

it feels warm out here in Newark, NJ International Airport, United Airlines thanks for your good services! don't catch feelings, catch flights ✈️ ❤️✨🙏🏾 #travelinspiration#newphotographer#holidayvacation#wintergetaway#staycation

#tripaway this place was definitely a spot I’ve repeatedly went to. It’s presentable it’s clean and my child loves it there. Although I didn’t have breakfast it was offered

📍United Airlines Flight UA87, Shanghai Pudong (PVG) to Newark Liberty (EWR). This was my first time to the U.S, and first time in business class. Overall it was a good experience, they offered champagne as a welcoming drink; had a special kit for the flight that had eye covers for sleep, a dental kit and many more amenities. The seat was very comfortable and the ambience was amazing. However, one of the flight attendants was quite rude from the get go.. Would I fly Polaris again? Probably, but they need some improvements. Most importantly the food, as it was below par for the price tag of $1391. #givethanks #unforgettableexperiences

Newark, NJ (Brick City) —————// Newark, also known as Brick City is the most urban area in New Jersey. Above are some pictures near the Hudson River, Prudential Center and street views. Although it is touted as one of the most violent and dangerous in the U.S; don’t let it deter you from going. It is developing quicker and quicker, skyscrapers, new restaurants and establishments are opening everywhere. Come visit my CITY!

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is a standout on Manhattan's list of popular attractions and is an absolute must-see among the city’s iconic landmarks. This place is not just a popular sightseeing spot; it carries profound historical weight, making it a mandatory stop for every traveler in New York. 🏙️ Having experienced it firsthand, I highly recommend it to everyone—the events of 9/11 shook the world, and the exhibits serve as a heart-wrenching tribute to the innocent lives lost. It is a place for everyone to pay their respects 🫡. The museum is thoughtfully curated, allowing you to immerse yourself in the history and feel its immense impact. For travel tips: I suggest setting aside 2 to 3 hours for a thorough visit. The atmosphere is very somber, so please keep quiet and be respectful of other visitors. Photography is strictly prohibited in certain sections (especially those featuring footage from the day or recordings of victims), so please follow the rules. You can visit at any time for the full experience; the impact is just as powerful no matter the hour. Overall, whether you are a history lover or looking to experience the city's culture, this site comes highly recommended. 🌟

Arrived from Newark and took the Express Bus for $27 to Grand Central, then walked 5 minutes to the hotel. Taking your bags on the subway might save you a bit, but the bus is much more comfortable. Check-in was excellent. The room is definitely compact but offers plenty of hot water and a nice city view. It was clean and serviced daily. The area is quiet, with a small convenience store on the corner. Utopia Bagels is just a couple of blocks away. The bed was very comfy, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Free tea and coffee available until 10 a.m. Highly recommend and would gladly stay again.

New York City, my dream city, was finally here. After graduating from high school and getting a decent amount of time off, I decided to take the plunge and go on a solo trip! While I was excited about the freedom of wandering the city, I also had many anxieties and questions unique to solo travel. So, this time, I'll share a concise summary of "practical knowledge you should know before you go" and "recommended spots you absolutely must visit even if you're traveling alone," based on my actual experience. This time, I flew in from Vancouver! Things you should know beforehand: ① ESTA application is essential! It's absolutely necessary for entering the United States, so don't forget. (※Be careful of fake and scam websites! It's safest and recommended to go to the official page via the external link on Wikipedia.) ② Winter in NYC is extremely cold. I went in February, and a blizzard hit directly—it was colder than anything I'd ever experienced... (I completely underestimated it and almost gave up 😭). If you're going in winter, make sure you're fully prepared for the cold! ③ Research airport access in advance I used Newark Airport on my return trip, and the bus from in front of Grand Central Station in Manhattan cost a whopping $30 one way! I didn't know how to use the train, so I had no choice but to use it, but it might have been cheaper to use Uber Share or something similar 😭 (However, the Manhattan cityscape I saw on the way to the airport was absolutely beautiful!). Also, the security check at the airport took an incredibly long time. Now, places you absolutely must visit! ① Just walk around Manhattan Just walking around surrounded by the overwhelming skyscrapers, which are so different from Tokyo, makes you feel like the protagonist of a movie ☺️ I recommend the J.P. Morgan Tower at 270 Park Avenue! ② Keens Steakhouse A well-known, long-established steakhouse. The prime rib I ate here was absolutely delicious! The price was within my expectations and I was very satisfied ☺️ However, NYC has very strict rules regarding alcohol sales, and when I tried to order a beer, I was refused after they checked my passport for age verification...😭 ③ Katz's Delicatessen Sandwiches Authentic American sandwiches with juicy brisket (beef) piled high. Of course, it was delicious 😋 (※It's quite filling, so it's best to go on an empty stomach!). ④ A great cafe I found around Soho: Ludlow Coffee Supply I stumbled upon this cafe while walking around Soho and it was fantastic. Everyone was locking in at the cafe, and it was so cool. Summary In conclusion My first solo trip, and my long-awaited visit to New York, was an unforgettable trip filled with surprises, a few troubles, and, more than anything,感動 (deep emotion). With proper preparation, you can enjoy it 120% even if you're traveling alone! I hope this will be helpful to anyone planning a trip to NYC. Please enjoy your best American trip! #accommodationreview #solotravel #NewYork

A practical guide to getting from New York NEWARK Airport (ERW) to Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ)! ✈️🍁 July 23rd YTZ Airport is located in downtown Toronto and is one of the two major commercial airports in Toronto, making it great for those who want quick, easy access to and from the city center! The airport is small and the runway section can only accommodate small commercial aircraft, usually mainly used by the two major airlines Air Canada and Porter. Airport Address: Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, Toronto, ON M5V 1A1, Canada Newark Airport (ERW), on the other hand, is one of New York’s three major international commercial airports, located a bit further than LaGuardia (LGA), but easily connected. This is where I go from here! The easiest way to get to the airport is to take the subway or bus from the city to PEN Station and transfer to New Jersey Transit (NJT). PEN Station is super large and is a hub for many lines and transportation, remember that you have to buy a new ticket out of the gate for subway transfer, which costs about USD 17. After exiting the gate, do not go up the road, follow the NJT signs to a hall, then go to the other side of the hall to the right, take the escalator upstairs to see the NJT ticket office. After buying your airport ticket, check the TV screen which Track to board your train with, however note that the screen does not show the name of the airport directly because it is only via ERW. You don't have to sit in the opposite position to get on the bus. The ticket clerk will check the ticket. The journey takes about 20 minutes to get off at EWR station. You have to use a machine to check the ticket. Then transfer to the free Air Train to three different terminals, I took the Porter at Terminal B. After arriving, check in and go directly through the security check into the terminal. There is generally no border or customs inquiries when leaving the United States. Porter airlines allow carry-on baggage for ground staff into the luggage compartment before boarding because the Overhead locker on Porter small planes is really small! Porter only has two models, all small planes, one larger one also has high-speed WiFi (free!), unfortunately I did not sit this time. You will be given a free pack of nuts and beer drinks on the way to the plane – cool! After landing at YTZ to be a Canadian border guard entry, basically the whole process is automatic machine operation, entering personal information and answering basic questions. If you have peers remember to add the names of friends and family, no need to repeat the entry. At the end of the machine, a long strip of black and white photo paper will be printed, held to officials, and allowed to be collected back into the country without any problems. There is no need to take a boat to the terminal out of this airport (since the terminal and runway are on a small island) and you can just set foot on the city shore via the underpass (about 7-8 minutes). You can take a taxi outside, or walk 5 minutes to take the bus. The transportation is super convenient! 🇺🇸 Newark Liberty International Airport Address: 3 Brewster Rd, Newark, NJ 07114, United States Opening Hours: 24 hours 🇨🇦 Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport Address: Toronto, ON M5V 1A1, Canada Opening hours: 06:30 – 23:00 The travel route is detailed, if you have any questions, please feel free to leave a message and ask me ~🛫🥨🥜

Ladies!! July in New York is absolutely amazing🎆 This summer in New York perfectly coincided with a huge year—the 250th anniversary of the United States, the World Cup final, and the 50th anniversary of the Macy’s fireworks show. The whole city was insanely lively, with celebrations everywhere on the streets. I had an absolute blast‼️ First, how to get from the airport to the city🚕 Newark Airport (EWR) is the closest to Manhattan. Taking the AirTrain and transferring to the NJ Transit train to Penn Station costs only $17 and takes 30 minutes. From JFK Airport, take the AirTrain and transfer to the E subway line to Midtown, which takes just over an hour and costs $11.15. LaGuardia has no direct subway access; you can take the Q70 bus to transfer to the subway or take an Uber, which costs about $35–60 depending on traffic. I personally found Newark the most hassle-free👌 🏨The place I stayed this time 📍Located in West Village near the Hudson River side. The window view overlooks the Hudson River and the New Jersey skyline across the water. At sunset, the whole river turns golden🌅 📍It’s a one-bedroom with a terrace facing west. In the evening, I laid out a mat and watched the sun slowly set across the river. The silhouette of the Statue of Liberty faintly appeared in the distance. That scene still comes to mind when I close my eyes✨ 📍Right downstairs are the cobblestone alleys of West Village, surrounded by independent bookstores and boutique coffee shops. A few steps away is the south entrance to the High Line Park. The location is truly unbeatable July 4 | Independence Day | 250th anniversary + Macy’s fireworks show July 4 this year was the highlight of highlights🇺🇸 The 250th anniversary of the United States and the 50th anniversary of the Macy’s fireworks show were celebrated at full scale! Fireworks launched simultaneously from both the East River and Hudson River sides. Official recommended viewing spots include Brooklyn Bridge Park, the East River waterfront walkway, and Hudson River Park. I arrived two hours early at Brooklyn Bridge Park and secured a spot facing Midtown Manhattan. When the fireworks exploded between the Empire State Building and One Vanderbilt, tens of thousands around me screamed at the same time. The shock was beyond words😭😭😭 ⚠️Key point: The subway runs until 2 AM that night, but with the huge crowd leaving, walking back across the bridge to Manhattan is actually faster July 19 | World Cup final day This year’s World Cup final was held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, right next to New York🏆 No tickets for the game? No problem! Central Park’s Great Lawn hosted the city’s largest public viewing party with three huge LED screens streaming the match. There was a DJ warming up the crowd and local New York food stalls. About 50,000 people watched the game together⚽ Times Square and the Hudson River waterfront also had giant viewing screens, creating an incredible atmosphere. I chose Central Park, and the feeling of cheering with tens of thousands of people is unforgettable Brooklyn deep walk route🚶‍♀️ Day 1: Williamsburg → Bushwick → Prospect Park Bedford Ave in Williamsburg is the hub for New York’s artsy youth, full of vintage shops, vinyl record stores, and independent designer studios🎨 The weekend Smorgasburg outdoor food market runs from April to October with over 70 stalls. The longest lines are for Mighty Quinn’s barbecue and Red Hook lobster rolls—definitely try them Take the L train two stops from Williamsburg to Bushwick, which is like an open-air graffiti art gallery🎨 The walls along the streets are covered with world-class street art. Every photo looks like a masterpiece In the afternoon, picnic at Prospect Park. This park is much less crowded than Central Park. The Long Meadow lawn by the lake stretches nearly a mile and is a local secret summer retreat🌿 Day 2: DUMBO → Brooklyn Heights → Red Hook After taking the classic shot of the Manhattan Bridge from Washington Street in DUMBO, walk south along the Brooklyn Heights Promenade riverwalk🚶‍♀️ This walkway is built along a cliff and offers a full view of the Lower Manhattan skyline. Walking here in the evening with the river breeze is incredibly relaxing Continue south to Red Hook, a hidden gem neighborhood often overlooked by tourists⚓ It has New York’s best Italian handmade ice cream shop, Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie, and an IKEA built inside an old warehouse—yes, the only IKEA in New York is in Red Hook, and it’s the smallest IKEA in the world, very quirky and photogenic Metropolitan Museum deep visit guide🏛️ Tickets are $30. Closed on Wednesdays. Open Sunday to Thursday 10:00 AM–5:00 PM, Friday and Saturday extended to 9:00 PM My tested best route: head straight to the Egyptian Dendur Temple on the first floor (the entire temple was moved inside, very impressive) → pass through the Greek and Roman galleries → go upstairs to see Chinese Buddhist art and the Ming-style Suzhou garden pavilion → European oil painting galleries (Monet’s Water Lilies and Van Gogh’s self-portrait are here) → finish at the rooftop garden, which features contemporary art installations in July and offers a panoramic view of Central Park🌳 ⚠️Friday and Saturday evenings are half as crowded with amazing lighting and atmosphere, highly recommended! How to choose an observation deck❓ I visited all three major New York observation decks. Here’s a direct comparison👇 🔸Empire State Building 86th floor: from $44, open-air platform with strong wind but unbeatable classic vibe. Open until midnight in summer. Best for night views 🔸Top of the Rock: about $55, offers a direct view of the Empire State Building and Central Park. Best spot for full Empire State Building photos 🔸Summit One Vanderbilt: from $48, all-glass space with glass floors, the most modern and photogenic, but long lines in peak season If I had to pick one, I’d choose Top of the Rock at sunset to watch the sun set over New Jersey and see Manhattan change from gold to blue-purple. That image is etched in my DNA💜 🔑Additional tips: 1️⃣There are many free outdoor events on New York streets in July. Bryant Park has weekly concerts and movies. Governors Island is accessible by free ferry 2️⃣Walk the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn for the best unfolding views 3️⃣Same-day discount tickets for Broadway shows can be bought at the TKTS red booths, up to 50% off. There’s one in Times Square and one at Lincoln Center 4️⃣The American Museum of Natural History tickets are $30. The new Gilder Center’s immersive experience is perfect for photos 5️⃣July in New York is humid and feels hot. Bring plenty of water daily. Fire hydrants spray water to cool off, a classic New York summer scene💦 This summer in New York gave me so much—the once-in-250-years celebration, the World Cup final, and nights watching fireworks with tens of thousands of people… every moment shines brightly in my heart✨

The staff, location, cleanliness, and everything else you could wish for were excellent. Every team member was friendly and supportive. The complimentary wine mixer provided a fun opportunity to connect with other travelers and share travel stories and plans. Anthony went above and beyond to assist us in organizing our trip back to Newark, considering the Puerto Rico parade happening near our departure time.

My flight from EWR to BTV was delayed more than 3 times. I received almost real time voice updates from trip app. Surprisingly, they even called us by a real person and confirmed if I am okay with the next day flight. It will be even better if they can help to deal with the airline compensation. #unitedairline #travelupdate #flightdelay

The flower viewing season in New York officially begins from March to April!
