Shop: Kamikawa Senbon Dango Address: 76 Oishida Otsu, Oishida-cho, Kitamurayama-gun, Yamagata Prefecture Budget: From ¥140 This super popular dango shop. I made a reservation and bought some. No wait time! 😆 You can't buy the items that can only be eaten on the spot, but I recommend making a reservation in advance for takeout. The texture of the mochi part of the dango was something I'd never experienced before. There was so much bean paste inside that the bottom package was crushed when I got home. Restaurant: Handmade Oishida Soba Kiyo Address: 736 Yokoyama, Oishida-cho, Kitamurayama-gun, Yamagata The Oishida-cho website in Yamagata Prefecture lists the "Oishida Soba Kaido Famous Restaurant Guide." After much deliberation, I chose Soba Kiyo! Since I came from outside the prefecture, the first thing that surprised me was the amount of pickles alone, which was enough to fill me up. What, is this normal in Yamagata? It was super delicious. To get to Ginzan Onsen by train, get off at Oishida Station on the Yamagata Shinkansen. ☺️ The snow-covered scenery was so beautiful from the train window. ✨ You can take a bus from the station to the hot spring town, but our lodging came to pick us up. 😊 I had researched that there was a convenience store at Oishida Station, but unfortunately it was closed due to renovations. 😅 There's only a candy store and a Yamazaki convenience store in front of the station.
