The Archaeological Park of Kato Pafos (Paphos) is one of the most important archaeological sites in Cyprus. Since 1980, it has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is important to note that Paphos was the capital city of Cyprus between 2nd Century BC and 4th Century AD. The park is extremely huge and the entrance fee (€4.50) is truly worth the money and time! My favourite site is the Villa House of Aion with its marvellous and most detailed mosaics on display, dating from 4th Century BC to the Middle Ages. Archeological Park in Paphos

Archeological Park is one of the main touristic attraction in Paphos, Cyprus. This archeological side is a UNESCO world heritage. It shows the remains of the city of 4th century BC. Some mosaics from Roman villas are still visible and we can enjoy their beauty. Here you can see the main structure of the city of that period of time, streets and the rests of the houses are there. At that time Paphos was the capital of Cyprus, that’s why there are lots rich peoples’ houses were here. If you are interested in culture and history it’s a must visit place for you in Paphos. These include: House of Dionysus – this is a preserved ruins of a Roman villa dating to the 2nd, century known for colourful mosaics of Dionysus. It’s not clear whether only romans lived there and is believed wealthy native Greeks also could have inhabited the house. The mosaic floor from the House of Aion is considered one of the most exceptional works of ancient Roman art, if not the only work of its kind. House of Theseus – this exceptionally large villa was the residence of the Roman proconsul or governor, and was divided between rooms for official functions and those for private use. #paphos

The Tombs of the Kings

The Tombs of the Kings is an ancient heritage, protected by UNESCO in Cyprus. This place is for people who are interested in history. Tombs were built under the influence of Egyptian culture and the look like homes. Some of the tombs are ruined, but some of them are still great. They were carved in the rocks underground, in 4th century BC. It’s incredible to see their remains nowadays! Sagalassos Archaeological Site

Visiting the ancient city of Sagalassos was an amazing experience. Sagalassos is located in the Taurus Mountains of Turkey and is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the region. I entered the old city, and the scenery was an amazing experience. I saw the ruins of temples, theaters, public parks, and residential places. The city was characterized by magnificent buildings and the fine details of sculptures and decorations. I enjoyed traveling through the narrow streets and viewing the city from the mountain slopes. There was also explanatory information about the history of the city and ancient civilizations. I spent several hours exploring the place and absorbing its beauty. If you are interested in history and culture, visiting ancient Sagalassos is an unforgettable experience.

Sagalassos Archaeological Site

When I visited the ancient city of Sagalassos, I was thrilled to explore this magnificent site located in the Taurus Mountains of Turkey. Sagalassos is one of the most important archaeological sites in the region, holding many monuments of ancient civilizations. I began my journey by visiting the grand Roman theater in Sagalassos. This theater is one of the main tourist attractions of the city and dates back to the 2nd century AD. It could accommodate thousands of spectators and reflected classical Roman architecture. Standing on the platform, I imagined the shows and events that took place here, witnessing many cultural and entertainment events. Then, I visited the Roman aqueduct in Sagalassos. This aqueduct was a complex system of canals used to distribute water from the old town. It was a remarkable feat of ancient engineering and reflected the skill of Roman engineers in guiding and distributing water. I enjoyed walking along these conduits and exploring the inscriptions and amazing geometric details.

Paphos Harbour Castle

Paphos was a capital of Cyprus and a very important port. So, Paphos Harbour Castle was built to protect the city and the harbor. But it has a long history. In 1222 year it was destroyed by earthquake. During next centuries it was rebuilt and destroyed several times because of different wars and changes of rules of the island. During those centuries it was a fortress and even a warehouse house for salt. But now it’s an archeological museum, and sometimes it hosts different cultural events. Paphos Castle

#bucketlistreboot Paphos is famous for its rocky coastline with clear water and different natural bays filled with fish. They say nearby is where Aphrodite’s herself landed when she rose from the seas. Paphos Castle Tourists can take a stroll in Paphos’ marina area culminating the 15 min walk at the castle area. Although not an impressive construction, it does offer some great all round photos. You can also swim in the water, as you will see multiple steps so people can go down safely into the sea. Also, if you are lucky enough you can also see turtles. Yes, turtles!
