Tucked away in the historic charm of Ipoh lies a creative adaptive reuse discovery: the Ipoh Stables Market (Bazaar Kandang Kuda). Built directly on the grounds of former horse stables tied to the historic Perak Turf Club, this lifestyle bazaar transforms equine history into a bustling community hub. Where thoroughbreds once rested, local artisans, food vendors, and independent crafters now set up shop inside restored stalls. The architectural layout retains its original rustic skeleton—long covered corridors, high timber-framed roofing for natural ventilation, and partitioned bays that previously housed racehorses. Walking through the market offers a unique spatial experience; each former stall acts as a charming, self-contained pop-up boutique or artisanal food vendor. Beyond its physical heritage, the market breathes fresh creative energy into Ipoh’s leisure scene. Visitors can stroll along shaded pathways, sampling local delicacies, craft coffee, vintage items, and handmade goods, all while surrounded by subtle equestrian murals and preserved racecourse structures. It seamlessly bridges colonial-era sporting heritage with contemporary weekend market culture. For travelers, photographers, and food lovers exploring Perak, the Ipoh Stables Market stands out as a memorable example of urban rejuvenation—proving that even historical equestrian grounds can find a vibrant second life. #localdiscoveries #hotdiscussions #ipoh

If you’re planning a trip to Ipoh and looking for places that are beautiful, unique, and perfect for taking photos, here are two places I visited that I’d definitely add to your itinerary. 📸✨ 🏰 Kellie’s Castle This was probably one of the most interesting places I visited in Ipoh. Kellie’s Castle is an unfinished historical mansion surrounded by greenery, with beautiful old brick walls, arches, staircases and mysterious little corners to explore. 🎟️ Entrance Fee: · Malaysian Adult — RM9 · Foreign Adult — RM19 📸 Is it worth visiting? If you love architecture and aesthetic travel photos — definitely! 🤎 Almost every corner gives you a different photo background. The old European-style architecture combined with the greenery makes the photos look cinematic and timeless. My tip: explore the castle slowly instead of just taking photos at the entrance. There are so many beautiful angles once you walk around. ✨ 🐎 Iskandar Polo Club This place has a completely different vibe from Kellie’s Castle. 🌿 Think of wide green fields, horses, a peaceful lake and beautiful limestone hills — it feels like a quiet countryside escape from the busy city. 🎟️ Entrance Fee: Around RM30 per person. 📸 Is it worth visiting? If you enjoy nature, horses and peaceful outdoor photos, I’d say it’s a lovely place to stop by. The huge green field gives you plenty of space for natural-looking photos, and the horses + limestone hills make the scenery even more special. 🐎🌳 ☀️ Best photo tip: Try going in the morning or late afternoon when the sunlight is softer. And wear something that stands out against the greenery — your photos will look even better! 🤍 💭 My little takeaway from Ipoh… Kellie’s Castle gives you that old, mysterious and cinematic feeling, while Polo Club gives you a peaceful, natural and countryside vibe. Two completely different places, but both are great if you want to experience a different side of Ipoh beyond just food and cafés. ✨ 📍 Save this for your next Ipoh trip! #IpohTravel #IpohTrip #IpohPerak #MalaysiaTravel #KelliesCastle #IskandarPoloClub #PerakTravel #TravelMalaysia #IpohGuide #TravelReview #PhotoSpotsMalaysia #MalaysiaHiddenGems

Tucked away in Perak’s Kinta Valley, Kampar is a charming destination where Malaysia’s tin-mining heritage meets dramatic limestone landscapes and outdoor adventures. Once one of the world’s major tin-producing areas, Kampar has evolved into a lively university town while still preserving traces of its fascinating past. 🏘️ My Experience What I love about Kampar is how peaceful and authentic it feels. The town has a relaxed atmosphere, with old buildings, local eateries and surrounding hills creating a very different experience from Malaysia’s bigger cities. Walking around the old town, I could still feel the connection to Kampar’s tin-mining history. For a deeper look into this heritage, the Kinta Tin Mining (Gravel Pump) Museum offers an interesting glimpse into the industry that shaped the region. But Kampar isn’t only about history. Just outside the town, limestone hills and green landscapes make it a great base for nature lovers and adventure seekers. 🏞️ Things to Do in Kampar 1. Explore Gua Tempurung 🪨
One of the highlights of the Kampar district is Gua Tempurung, one of Peninsular Malaysia’s largest and longest limestone caves. The cave is estimated to be around 400 million years old and features five huge domes, spectacular rock formations and an underground river. 2. Discover Kampar’s Tin-Mining Heritage ⛏️
Visit the Kinta Tin Mining Museum to learn how tin mining transformed Kampar and the surrounding Kinta Valley. 3. Enjoy the Limestone Landscapes 🏔️
The surrounding Kinta Valley is filled with dramatic limestone formations, making the area especially beautiful for photography and outdoor exploration. 4. Slow Down at Westlake 🌿
For something more relaxing, Westlake Garden offers a pleasant place to walk, enjoy the greenery and experience Kampar’s slower pace. 5. Explore the Old Town 📸
Take your time wandering through Kampar’s streets, discovering old architecture, murals and local food spots. Sometimes the best part of a small town is simply getting lost for a while. 🎒 Travel Tips · 👟 Wear comfortable shoes, especially if visiting Gua Tempurung. · 💦 Bring water and prepare for humid weather. · 🪨 If you plan to go caving, choose a tour suitable for your fitness and experience level. · 📸 Bring a camera — the limestone scenery is incredibly photogenic. · ⛏️ Leave some time to explore Kampar town instead of only visiting the major attractions. · 🚗 Kampar works well as a weekend road-trip destination from other parts of Perak or the Klang Valley. 🌅 Final Thoughts Kampar may not be the first place that comes to mind when planning a trip around Malaysia, but that is exactly what makes it interesting. From old tin-mining stories and quiet streets to ancient limestone caves and green landscapes, Kampar offers a beautiful combination of history, nature and adventure. Kampar — where old stories meet wild landscapes. 🌿⛏️🏞️ #Kampar #KamparPerak #PerakTravel #MalaysiaTravel #ExploreMalaysia #VisitPerak #KintaValley #GuaTempurung #TinMiningHeritage #MalaysiaNature #NatureEscape #WeekendGetaway #TravelInspiration

I visited the WOW! Kampung Baru Expo 2026 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, and honestly, I feel this is one of those underrated local events that deserves much more attention. At first, I thought it would simply be another expo, but I was surprised by how much Malaysian history, village culture, agriculture and local industries I discovered under one roof. 😍 I explored stories from different communities, including Pekan Nanas pineapple heritage, Tambun pomelo, Pahang oil palm and durian industries, Perak fishing communities, Selangor footwear engineering and traditional rubber villages. 🍍🍊🌴🥭🎣👞 I also loved the nostalgic displays of old lamps, coffee socks, traditional cups, tins and everyday kampung items. These little details brought back a very different side of Malaysian life. ❤️ What I enjoyed most was discovering the stories behind the products — the people, communities, farming and industries that helped shape Malaysia. For me, this expo is much more than a place to look at displays. It feels like a little journey through Malaysia’s hidden stories and local heritage. 🇲🇾 An underrated expo that I genuinely think deserves more attention — especially if you enjoy discovering a different side of Malaysia. #underratedspots

Located in Bersia, Gerik, Perak, Mount Bubu stands at 619 metres and is one of the most beautiful mountains I’ve explored in Perak. And there’s something special about starting this hike while the rest of the world is still asleep. 🌌 Start before sunrise The best time to begin the climb is around 2AM, allowing you to reach the summit before dawn. If the conditions are right, you might be lucky enough to witness a spectacular carpet of clouds with the sunrise emerging behind Bersia Dam. A little rain the night before can sometimes create better conditions for a carpet-cloud view, although nature never guarantees the perfect sunrise. 🌿 A mountain with a wild side The foothills of Mount Bubu are surrounded by electric fencing designed to prevent wild elephants from leaving the area, as the mountain is part of an elephant roaming zone. It’s a reminder that you’re hiking through a landscape that is very much part of the wildlife’s territory. The trail also leads through a beautiful mossy forest section just below the summit. The area has been marked with red tape to prevent hikers from stepping on the moss, although visitors can still enter designated areas to appreciate and photograph the scenery. ⛰️ The summit view At the summit, you’ll find the remains of an old triangulation station, with only its metal support structure remaining today. But the real photo spot is the summit signboard. Behind it, you get an incredible backdrop featuring Mount Kerunai and Mount Kenderong — famously known as K2 — creating one of the most recognisable views from Mount Bubu. 📍 Good to know Mount Bubu is located within a forest reserve, so a permit is required, and hikers must be accompanied by a mountain guide. The cheapest hiking package typically starts from around RM85, although prices may vary depending on the operator and inclusions. The mountain is also popular among hikers and has a limited quota, so booking early is highly recommended. 🥾 Tips before you go · Start around 2AM for a better chance of catching the carpet clouds and sunrise. · If possible, go after rain the previous night for potentially better cloud conditions. · Wear proper hiking shoes, especially for uneven and potentially slippery sections. · Bring a jacket. Temperatures at the summit can get surprisingly cold. Sometimes, the best mountain views begin long before sunrise 🌄🌿 #hiking #adventure #gerik

Stepping off the night train in Taiping just before dawn, I kicked off a spontaneous ride chasing the morning breeze! The air at Taiping Lake is incredibly crisp and refreshing in the early hours. Following the rhythm of two wheels, I wandered from Raintree Walk along the lakeside paths, then slowly pedaled northward. To top it all off, a bowl of Taiping's legendary Kway Teow Kia was the perfect way to refuel. I stayed at Hotel Regal Vista in Ipoh for 2 nights and this turned out to be a pretty practical budget stay. 💰 RM132.82 for 2 nights ➡️ RM66.41/night 👥 2 adults 🛏️ Standard Queen Room 🍳 Breakfast for 2 included in my booking package The room is simple rather than fancy, but it had the basics we needed — air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, TV, kettle, coffee & tea, bottled water and a private bathroom. The breakfast was a nice bonus too. 🍳 There was a simple buffet selection with local dishes, eggs, beans and drinks. 📍 Location is another plus — the hotel is centrally located in Ipoh, with places like Memory Lane Market and Khizanat within walking distance. My take: If you're looking for a simple, affordable base for a short Ipoh trip, this is worth checking. Not a luxury stay — but for RM66.41/night with breakfast included in my package, I think the value is interesting. 👀 📌 Save this for your next Ipoh trip. About the Lata Penyel Waterfall & Hut Experience: Tucked away in the mountains near Kampar, Perak, Lata Penyel is a hidden treasure located within an Orang Asli (indigenous) village. Far from the city's hustle and bustle, this spot remains a secret even to many Malaysians. The highlight? You can rent a rustic, indigenous-style chalet right next to the waterfall for a truly "off-the-grid" experience. While the facilities are extremely basic—usually no electricity, so you'll need to bring your own sleeping bag and food—the feeling of waking up to a spectacular waterfall at your doorstep and falling asleep to the sound of rushing water is a solid 10/10. It’s a paradise for minimalist campers and nature lovers looking for a deep, authentic experience. Before heading home, we decided to venture deep into the mountains of Kampar to visit Lata Penyel 🌿—a hidden waterfall that even locals rarely know about! Located in the pristine rainforest surrounding an Orang Asli village, the place has a mysterious, "lost world" vibe. We rented a rustic hut by the falls and embraced a minimalist, primitive lifestyle for a while. Though the conditions are basic (don’t forget your sleeping bag and food!), the experience is absolutely priceless 💯! Just opening your door to see the thundering falls, or sitting on a rock aimlessly listening to the water and getting lost in the view, is incredibly healing. At night, with no electricity, we lit candles and cooked a simple chicken chop pasta dinner 🍝🍗. The peace and satisfaction we felt were irreplaceable. To our surprise, the waterfall at dawn was even more breathtaking. Its ethereal and mysterious beauty makes every bit of "roughing it" totally worth it! ✨💦 📸 Photo Log: Challenge Photo 2 | What’s it like living next to a waterfall? About Lata Puteh Waterfall: Tucked away in the Bintang Mountain Range in northern Perak (between Selama and Batu Kurau / Ijok), Lata Puteh is one of Malaysia's most stunning hidden gems. It gets its name, "Puteh" (Malay for "white"), from the way it cascades down towering granite cliffs like a shimmering white silk ribbon draped across the forest. Reaching this spectacle requires a challenging 600-meter climb up a steep, rugged trail. Because it's off the beaten path, the area remains beautifully pristine. The heavy mist and refreshing natural pools make it the ultimate escape for adventurers looking to beat the heat. After trekking through dense rainforest and scrambling up steep slopes, the roar of the falls grew louder until—bam!—the forest opened up to a sight that made every drop of sweat worth it. Lata Puteh is even more powerful than I imagined. A massive curtain of water plunges from the cliffs, sending a refreshing spray into the air 💦. I was lucky enough to have the whole valley to myself today! Whether it was meditating on a river stone or plunging into the icy water, it was pure soul therapy. I couldn't leave without a photo of this natural masterpiece to capture the raw energy of the mountains ⛰️✨. 📸 Photo Log: 🌊 Pic 2|That first glimpse after the climb—an overwhelming wall of white water. Pure visual magic! 🧘‍♂️ Pic 3|Finding Zen between the ancient trees and river stones. Surrounded by lush greenery, it’s the perfect spot to reset. 🙌 Pic 1|Arms wide open in front of the spectacular falls. A reminder of how small we are—and how happy—in the presence of nature. 🎒 Pic 5|A final shot at the viewpoint to wrap up this incredible hidden adventure. 📍 Lata Puteh Waterfall, Batu Kurau / Selama, Perak, Malaysia

When Ipoh is mentioned, many people immediately think of "food." Besides white coffee and bean sprout chicken, dim sum is also an important part of Ipoh's breakfast culture. This time, instead of heading to the popular dim sum streets in the city center, we visited Chooi Yue Dim Sum in Ipoh Garden South. This shop caters to the locals' everyday breakfast habits, about a 15-minute drive from Ipoh city center. Recent customer reviews mention that it's often packed during weekend breakfast hours, and you might even have to wait in line, so if you want to avoid the crowds, it's recommended to arrive early. ✦ Traditional Hong Kong Dim Sum, Choose a Variety at Once Chooi Yue Dim Sum specializes in traditional Hong Kong dim sum, offering common items such as shrimp dumplings, siu mai, char siu bao, glutinous rice chicken, fish balls, and egg tarts. If it's your first time, I would recommend ordering several different types at once, such as steamed dishes, fried items, and buns, to experience the unique characteristics of the restaurant. Among the most recommended items are: Shrimp Dumplings: The shrimp filling is sweet and fresh, and the translucent skin makes them a classic Hong Kong-style dim sum. Siu Mai: Traditional pork siu mai, perfect for enjoying slowly with a cup of hot tea. Crispy Shrimp Rolls: The crispy outer layer is filled with shrimp meat, a unique dim sum I think is worth trying. Egg Tarts: The flaky crust paired with the smooth egg filling makes them a perfect dessert to finish off the day. You can also find some unique and innovative flavors, such as abalone and mushroom rolls, pomegranate cheese balls, and mochi. They offer more than just traditional dim sum; they also incorporate modern twists. Recently, diners have also highly recommended the salted egg yolk custard buns, including a version with pandan aroma. If you like molten filling buns, this is definitely a must-try. ✦ Dim Sum with an Ipoh White Coffee When eating dim sum in Ipoh, I think you absolutely must have a cup of coffee with it. Besides dim sum, they also offer traditional teas and coffee. Previous diners specifically mentioned that the coffee here has a rich aroma and is perfect for enjoying with breakfast. A basket of dim sum, a cup of hot coffee, slowly enjoying the meal and chatting—this is a typical Ipoh morning. I love this way of traveling. You don't necessarily need to plan any specific sightseeing. Find a local teahouse in the morning, sit down for a steaming bowl of dim sum, watch the people around you chatting and eating breakfast, and you'll more easily experience the true daily life of a city. ✦ Why is it worth saving? Cui Yue Lou isn't one of those fancy restaurants designed specifically for tourists. It's more like a dim sum shop integrated into Ipoh's daily life. The menu is extensive, the prices are relatively reasonable, and it's open from morning until afternoon, so you can eat there for breakfast, brunch, or even closer to noon. Currently, the cost per person is around RM20–40, which is generally considered affordable to mid-range. However, due to its popularity, it tends to be crowded on weekends and holidays. Some diners even recommend arriving before 8 am to avoid the breakfast rush. So if your Ipoh trip is primarily about eating, I highly recommend adding this to your breakfast list. No need to chase the most popular spot. Occasionally, wander into a residential area and enjoy a familiar Hong Kong-style dim sum meal, paired with a cup of Ipoh coffee. The essence of travel is sometimes hidden in these ordinary everyday moments. ♡ 🧸 Chooi Yue Dim Sum ꔛ 2, 4 & 6, Tingkat Taman Ipoh 12, Taman Ipoh Selatan, 31400 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysiaꔛ 07:00–14:00 (Closed on Thursdays) #travel2026 #IpohFood #DimSum #Foodie #ChooiYueDimSum #HongKongStyleTeaRestaurant

If you're seeking the ultimate destination for sightseeing, adventure, and family fun in Perak, the Lost World of Tambun absolutely nails it! 🌟 I gave it a flawless 5 out of 5 for matching themes like iconic landmarks, night attractions, family-friendly facilities, and summer escapes. This theme park truly delivers — from day to night, all attractions are conveniently gathered in one location, making the experience seamless and enjoyable. we woke up to the most spectacular view in Ipoh Perak Malaysia

If you've ever wondered what it feels like to explore a temple built inside a limestone cave, Perak Cave Temple, also known as Perak Tong, is one of Ipoh's most fascinating places to visit 🌿 Located in Ipoh, Perak, the temple was founded by Chong Sen Yee and his wife, Choong Chan Yoke, in 1926. Today, it has become one of the city's most popular attractions, combining Chinese Buddhist culture with the dramatic landscape of a limestone mountain. Interestingly, according to the Malaysian mapping authorities, the site is officially gazetted as Gunung Tasek, standing at approximately 163 metres high. The mountain is part of the limestone formations surrounding Ipoh. The cave temple itself is filled with Buddhist statues, murals and religious sculptures, creating an atmospheric contrast between the natural limestone walls and the colourful temple interior 🏯✨ Outside the temple, there's also a large fish pond where visitors can feed the fish before beginning the climb. But the real adventure starts when you head towards the mountain summit ⛰️ There are approximately 450 steps leading from the temple towards the top. The climb can be tiring, especially under the tropical sun, but once you reach the summit, you're rewarded with a 360-degree panoramic view of Ipoh and its surrounding landscape 🌄 One interesting detail for hikers and peak collectors: mapping records indicate a triangulation station symbol on the mountain. However, despite looking for it during my visit, I couldn't find any obvious triangulation marker at the summit. 💡 Tips Before You Go 🌞 Avoid hiking around noon. The heat can make the 450-step climb much more exhausting. 🥤 Bring enough water, especially if you plan to hike all the way to the summit. 🌅 The last climb to the summit is around 5:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly. 📸 The summit is worth the effort if you're looking for a panoramic view of Ipoh. 🐟 Don't forget to stop by the fish pond outside the temple before heading up. It's not just a temple visit, you can explore a cave, climb a limestone mountain, and end the journey with a panoramic view of Ipoh, all in one place. #ipoh #perak #hiking

When people talk about Perak, Ipoh usually gets all the attention. But after spending a day in Taiping, I honestly think this charming heritage town deserves much more recognition. With peaceful lakes, century-old rain trees, colonial architecture, delicious local food, and a slower pace of life, Taiping quickly became one of my favourite towns in Malaysia. ❤️ My Experience The first thing I noticed after arriving in Taiping was how calm everything felt. There were no skyscrapers or busy shopping malls—just wide roads lined with enormous rain trees and people enjoying a relaxing morning walk. I started my day at Taiping Lake Gardens, and it instantly became my favourite spot. Watching the giant rain trees stretch gracefully over the lake created one of the most beautiful landscapes I've seen in Malaysia. I rented a bicycle and slowly explored the park instead of rushing from one attraction to another. The cool breeze, chirping birds, and peaceful surroundings made me forget about the busy city life. Later, I visited Taiping Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in Malaysia, before walking around the heritage streets filled with charming old buildings and local cafés. Before leaving, I couldn't resist trying Taiping's famous hawker food. Sometimes the simplest local meals are the ones you remember the most. 📍Things You Shouldn't Miss 🌳 Taiping Lake Gardens One of Malaysia's oldest public gardens and easily the most iconic attraction in Taiping. 🦁 Taiping Zoo & Night Safari Home to hundreds of animal species and one of the country's most popular zoos. 🏛️ Heritage Streets Explore colonial buildings, colourful murals, cafés, and traditional shophouses around the town centre. ⛰️ Maxwell Hill (Bukit Larut) A perfect escape for nature lovers, offering cool weather, lush greenery, and panoramic views. 🍜 Local Food Don't miss Taiping's hawker centres, famous noodles, cendol, and traditional coffee shops. 💡 Travel Tips ✔️ Visit Taiping Lake Gardens early in the morning for cooler weather and beautiful lighting. ✔️ Rent a bicycle if you want to explore the gardens comfortably. ✔️ Bring an umbrella—Taiping is known as one of Malaysia's wettest towns, and rain showers can happen anytime. ✔️ Stay until evening if you plan to visit the famous Night Safari. ✔️ A full day is enough for the main attractions, but staying overnight lets you enjoy the town's peaceful atmosphere. 💰 Estimated Budget 🌳 Taiping Lake Gardens: Free 🦁 Taiping Zoo: Around RM20–30 🚲 Bicycle Rental: Around RM10–20 🍽️ Meals: RM10–25 ⏰ Recommended Duration: 1–2 Days ❤️ Final Thoughts Taiping isn't a destination filled with flashy attractions or luxury experiences. Instead, it offers something that's becoming increasingly rare—a slower pace of life, beautiful green spaces, and genuine local charm. Looking back, my favourite moment wasn't visiting a famous attraction. It was simply cycling beneath the century-old rain trees while enjoying the peaceful scenery around the lake. If you're looking for a relaxing weekend getaway that's rich in history, nature, and delicious local food, Taiping should definitely be on your Malaysia travel list. #Taiping #Perak #VisitMalaysia #TaipingLakeGardens #TravelMalaysia #HiddenGem #MalaysiaTravel #NatureLovers #WeekendGetaway #TripMoments #Tripcom #ExploreMalaysia #TaipingZoo #HeritageTown #BucketList

#overratedspots After seeing countless Instagram reels and photos, I had high expectations for Ipoh Stables Market. Unfortunately, my visit didn't quite match the hype. The market is definitely photogenic, with charming corners and a trendy atmosphere that's perfect for social media. But once I started exploring, I realized there wasn't much to keep me there. Most of the stalls are small, and the shopping options felt quite limited. Many shops offer similar products, so it didn't take long to walk through the entire market. If you're already exploring Ipoh, it's fine to stop by for a few photos. But I wouldn't recommend making a special trip just because it's trending on Instagram. Sometimes, a place looks amazing through a camera lens—but the real experience can be very different. 📍 Ipoh Stables Market, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia 💬 Have you visited? #overratedspots Spritzer EcoPark I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but Spritzer EcoPark felt a little overrated based on my visit. While the park is clean, but not well-maintained, and there simply wasn't much to do. After a short walk and a few photos, I found myself wondering what was next. If you're already passing through Taiping, it's a pleasant place to stop for a quick break. But I wouldn't recommend making a special trip just to visit the park, especially if you're expecting exciting attractions or a full day of activities. Sometimes a place looks more impressive in photos than it feels in person—and this was one of those experiences for me. 📍 Location: Spritzer EcoPark, Taiping, Perak, Malaysia 💬 Have you visited Spritzer EcoPark?
