20260707 Stayed one night at Kenting Bali Bali for NT$1,563. The hotel does not provide breakfast. Pros: 1. Extremely close to the main street—less than a 1-minute walk away. The location is absolutely fantastic. 2. Free parking lot with plenty of open space. 3. The room is 22 square meters, which is acceptable for two people. 4. Great water pressure in the bathroom, and the shower heats up quickly. Cons: 1. There's a musty smell as soon as you enter the room, especially in the bathroom. 2. While using the sink, there's a constant foul odor coming from the drain. 3. While showering, the entire bathroom smells like a sewer, and the strong stench even spreads into the room. 4. At night, you can hear guests running around upstairs and things dropping on the floor; in the morning, you can hear guests going downstairs and talking. The soundproofing is quite poor. 5. The room gets very bright around 5 AM; the curtains don't block out the morning light at all.

At first, I thought our flight was too early, but once we arrived, I felt it was a great decision. By the time we're done with airport procedures and taking the train to Taipei city center, it will take about two hours. (Be prepared for sightseeing!) · I recommend taking the MRT purple line; it saves time compared to the blue line. It takes approximately 45 minutes to reach Taipei city center. · We'll stay in the Ximending area. It's convenient, easy to get around, has plenty of food options, and lots of shopping. · The hotel is called Welove Meworld Inn. We booked it along with our flight tickets for around 900-1500 baht per night. For us, the accommodation was suitable and good value for money considering its location. We booked a windowless room, but it didn't feel claustrophobic at all. To get to the hotel, take exit 6, which leads directly to Rainbow Street. Walk straight ahead. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk there. · **For those who want to save money on accommodation, we recommend this place!*** The bathrooms in the rooms don't have bidets or automatic toilets, but the restrooms downstairs near the reception have bidets. Most hotels here allow check-in between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, depending on the place. So we left our luggage and went sightseeing right away. · Longshan Temple We walked there from our accommodation, about 15 minutes. It was a pleasant walk, and the atmosphere was great. We stopped for our first meal at a famous crispy pork restaurant near the temple. · Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall This is a place to commemorate an important figure in Taiwanese history. We took the MRT from the station in front of Longshan Temple, exited through gate 5, and turned right, walking along the path. · Si Si Nan Cun (Old Military Village) We took the red MRT line from Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall to Taipei 101 station, exited through gate 2, and then used Google Maps to walk there. It's not far. This is a popular spot for people to take photos with Taipei 101 in the background. · Elephant Mountain Viewpoint (Xiangshan) Take the MRT Red Line from Taipei 101 Station to Xiangshan Station, the last stop, exit through Gate 2, and then walk for about 15-20 minutes. You'll reach the point where you can hike up the mountain to enjoy the view of Taipei city and another spot where you can see Taipei 101. The hike to the top takes about 30 minutes. You need to plan your time accordingly, as it might be difficult to climb up and down in the dark if you arrive too late in the evening. Bring a water bottle with you, as the stairs are quite steep. · Ximen Night Market We took the MRT back to Ximen, the area where we were staying, to walk around and find some street food before returning to our accommodation. On the first day, we did a lot of walking and used a lot of energy. I recommend wearing comfortable clothes suitable for walking. The weather wasn't too hot when we went, so we could walk comfortably, but it was still tiring. Some people might experience sore feet and legs. It's not suitable for those who prefer a relaxed pace. The park itself isn't massive, but it boasts a sprawling, lush green lawn with a completely unobstructed, head-on view of the ocean. Just picture it: it's around 3 or 4 PM, the sun is starting to mellow out, a fresh sea breeze is blowing right at you, and you're lounging on the grass with the endless Taiwan Strait stretching out before you. I got there just past 3 PM, and it wasn't too crowded yet. But if you're aiming for the sunset, I highly recommend claiming your spot early. About an hour before sundown, the crowds start pouring in, and those front-row hammock spots are in high demand. 📍 Maicha Sunset Laboratory Inside the park, there's a cafe called Maicha Sunset Laboratory. The entrance fee is 200 NTD per person, which you exchange for tokens that can be used to buy food and drinks. I grabbed a beer and headed straight to the outdoor seating area. The outdoor zone features several rope-net hammocks, each big enough to fit two or three people. I picked a spot, kicked off my shoes, and lay right down. The angle was perfectly aligned with the sea. As the wind blew, the net swayed gently. With chill, unobtrusive music playing in the background, it took me maybe ten minutes before I started nodding off. This isn't one of those "snap a quick photo because it's pretty and leave" kinds of places. It's the kind of space where you'll easily lose track of time and stay for two or three hours. I saw people next to me actually sleeping, someone reading with headphones on, and others doing absolutely nothing but staring blankly at the ocean. When I went to Kaohsiung, I realized I'd never been south of Kaohsiung, so I spontaneously hopped on a train. The first and second photos of xiaolongbao were from a night market near Pingtung Station. The pink xiaolongbao were very spicy for me, but delicious. (I ordered two kinds because I met up with an acquaintance. It was quite a large portion!) The third photo is of a famous temple. It was beautifully lit up at night. I also went during the day, and it seemed like gods from other temples in the region were visiting. (I wanted to include a photo, but there were so many people that it would have been full of blurred images, so I decided against it.) The fourth photo is of a lovely manhole cover I found. I actually had another photo of a different manhole cover, but my shoes were in it, so I didn't include it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to take pictures of nice manhole covers (or so I'd like to think). The fifth photo is of a character I found in Shengli Xingcun. I can't remember why I took the picture. Lastly, we visited the market. It was nice that it had a roof, making it easy to walk around. Since we were staying in Kaohsiung that night, we didn't buy any food, but if I have the chance, I'd love to stay in this area and buy and eat food here. Today, my friends and I drove down to Donggang in Pingtung for some tuna. We hit up the super popular Huaqiao Market. It was my first time there, and I was so excited! There were tons of sashimi and seafood stalls everywhere. I noticed a handsome guy warmly greeting customers at A-Yuan Sashimi (around stall 1125). Their eye-catching neon signboard makes it super easy to spot. They have 8 seats where you can sit down for lunch. We ordered a plate of assorted tuna sashimi and a plate of salmon sashimi, followed by a sea urchin and crab paste rice bowl. We also got two hand rolls (lobster salad and fresh shrimp) along with two orders of seared prawn sushi and a bowl of assorted fish miso soup. The fish was incredibly fresh and literally melted in our mouths. It was absolutely delicious 😋. Such a fantastic dining experience that I highly recommend to everyone!
