The Cinema Alegria
#tripblazers #celebratewithtrip #yearofrabbit #newyearadventure #campingglamping #foodie.
Wing Lok Cinema–or Cinema Alegria in Portuguese–is located in an inner city suburb of Macau, close to Kiang Wu hospital. It first opened on February, 1952 with the documentary “The Liberated China”, and had 800 seats at the time. Close to Lin Kai Temple and The Joy of Living Cafe, it’s an ideal spot to head to and enjoy a movie.
It is a good example of an Art Deco style cinema and one of the few remaining in Macau. It was very popular, screening films from mainland China, Russia, North Korea and Vietnam and other communist countries and regions. It was soon enlarged to a total of 1,160 seats in stalls and circle levels. A large stage was installed in 1957, and variety shows became part of the programming. In 1997, the cinema was twinned, retaining the original auditorium which is still used for a dual use of films and live theatre, while the small auditorium upstairs in part of the balcony is for film use only.

Visited this catholic church in Macau. According to their history, catholic church there were built not only for prayers but also as rally point for Portuguese to gather up and act as a midway for missionaries going to deeper part of China and South East Asia. The Cathedral of Macau
The Cathedral of Macau is located at Largo da Sé, also known as the Sé or the Great Temple, with a long history. It was originally built in 1567 as a small wooden structure, which, after years of weathering and erosion, became dilapidated.
In 1849, the Catholic community raised funds to rebuild it, and the present-day façade began to take shape. In 1937, the cathedral was rebuilt again with rammed earth construction, which resulted in its current majestic appearance. This site was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in July 2005, becoming the thirty-first World Heritage Site in China.
The typical Mediterranean style, stained glass, wooden Portuguese screens, and statues of the Virgin Mary are all valuable cultural relics.

The Cathedral is a representative of the ancient architecture in the Historic Centre of Macau
Within the scope of the Historic Centre of Macau, the Cathedral is not the most conspicuous ancient building, but as the hub of Catholicism in Macau and the highest administrative body of the Catholic Church in Macau, it is still worth a visit.
External highlights: Ascending from the small sloping alley opposite to the Lou Kau Mansion, you will come across a cobblestone square with a fountain and a cross, which is the forecourt of the Cathedral. The elegant church that stands prominently on the granite pathway is the Cathedral itself, with its tender yellow exterior full of Portuguese flavor. The front of the church is particularly photogenic, and there is also a wishing well nearby.
Internal highlights: The interior decoration is simple, with a flat ceiling and high windows on both sides of the walls. The church's most distinctive feature is the artistically colored glass embedded inside and the twin-tower style buildings below. The church once housed many Catholic relics and historical artifacts, and religious masterpieces such as 'The Baptism of Saint John' and 'The Crucifixion of Japanese Catholics in Nagasaki' are also preserved within the Cathedral.
Admission: Free.
Address: No. 1 Cathedral Square.
Opening hours: 7:30-20:00.
Nearby attractions: The Historic Centre of Macau, where the Cathedral is located, is a World Heritage Site centered around the old city of Macau. Within a 1-kilometer radius, you can walk to other attractions such as the Holy House of Mercy Building, St. Dominic's Church, Lou Kau Mansion, Jesuit Square, Ruins of St. Paul's, Monte Fort, Macau Museum, Old City Walls, and St. Anthony's Church.

Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady, Macau
The Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady is the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Macau, arguably the most important church in Macau and one of the largest, locally known as the 'Cathedral'.
The church is located on a hill behind the Assembly Hall, the flat top of the hill is known as the Cathedral Square, on the square is a white stone cross that echoes the grand church behind it, quite charming.
The exterior of the church is grey granite, the windows are green, in terms of color it should be the darkest among the many churches in Macau, completely different from the bright exterior paint of other churches, it shows the uniqueness of the church.
The interior of the church is spacious, the structure is simple, the color is quite bright, in stark contrast to the exterior.

The Church of the Virgin Mary is the same as the other 24 World Heritage sites in Macau - it is also free, as long as visitors are allowed to enter the interior of the church during the opening hours, and only during the opening hours, they can only visit the exterior. The
Church of the Virgin is also called the lobby, the cathedral or the big temple, and its history dates back to the early seventeenth century.
In the beginning of the church, wood was used as the main building material, and the total area was very small. It was only built in 1623 to become the cathedral of Macao. In the nearly 400 years of history, the Church of the Virgin Mary has witnessed the vicissitudes of Macao and has become an important representative of the blend of Eastern and Western cultures.
From the 1623 to the Macau Cathedral to the mid-19th century, the Church of the Virgin Mary became ruined by more than two hundred years of wind and rain. In 1845, the believers donated a large repair to the inside and outside of the church.
The Church of the Nativity is dedicated to the compassion of Jesus, St. Joseph and the Mother of God. The church building is part of the historical city of Macau, and it takes about five minutes to walk from here to the surrounding attractions such as the Ruins of St. Paul.
The Church of the Virgin is divided into the early part and the late part. The late part refers to the side bell tower, made in the UK, and will ring before the important ceremonies such as Mass and Wedding.
The Church of the Virgin Mary used to be the must-see for the Governor of Macao. The existing building was built in 1937 and the art style is rich in Spanish and Portuguese. The atmosphere of the church is elegant and exquisite, and there are many Catholic relics inside.
