Santa Claus Village, Rovaniemi, Lapland

The Christmas before the Pandemic, we decided to spend our Christmas in the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi in Lapland, Finland. This is where Santa Claus spends his time to take care of his mission in life and spread the message of love and goodwill and the Christmas Spirit across the globe. This can be considered the most memorable trip, enduring the minus 30 degrees temperatures and chasing after the Northern Lights or Aurora in harsh conditions. We had many unique experiences during this trip, riding a horse, riding a reindeer, husky dog sledding even though the daylight is only 2 hours. Most activities were done in the dark. We even got to ride snowmobile on frozen fjord and catch the King Crab for dinner. The only setback, we had no luck during the whole trip to even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Hence, for the last ditch, we were driven to the coastal area in the evening and waited till 3am to try to catch this wonderful Aurora before our return flight to Singapore in the morning. Sadly, still no sign of the Northern Lights and we left the Lapland with a heavy heart. We will be back!!!
