Grand View Garden, Beijing
Soooo many flowers! Definitely go in the spring but be prepared for a bit of a crowd as every grandma in Beijing is out trying to get her flower pictures as well. Still such a good time and I’d give the same advice as always, if you wait a second you will get the chance to take your people free photos. The park is on the edge of the forbidden city but I wouldn’t recommend both in one day, the park isn’t that large but the forbidden city deserves its own day. You could visit Tianamen Square after though, if you start at the top and come out the other side you would come out near Tiananmen. Even if you just do the park it’s lovely and you should get enough pictures to not feel too bad about not checking out anything else that day!

The Grand View Garden is gradually brimming with the essence of spring
😊🌞🕰️ On the first day of March, I took a leisurely stroll in the Grand View Garden in the afternoon. The area where the Grand View Garden is located was a royal vegetable garden during the Ming and Qing dynasties. In 1984, the garden was redesigned according to the Grand View Garden described in 'Dream of the Red Chamber', to serve as a filming location for the 1987 TV adaptation. 🍃🏞️😊
😊📺🏯 There are two main filming locations for the 1987 version of 'Dream of the Red Chamber': one is the Grand View Garden in Beijing, and the other is Ning Rong Street in Zhengding. Ning Rong Street was also specially built for the filming of the 1987 'Dream of the Red Chamber' as a group of ancient-style buildings, serving as the setting for the Ningguo and Rongguo mansions. It has played a significant role in the economic development of Zhengding. 🎬👣😊
😊🚪🌆 The entrance fee for the Grand View Garden is 40 yuan, making it the most expensive free attraction included in the Beijing Park Annual Pass. Visiting the Grand View Garden three times a year makes the annual pass worthwhile. Today, I also stumbled upon a volunteer service market on Baizhifang Street in the small square, which was bustling with many people. At first, I thought it was the continuation of the Red Chamber Temple Fair. 🎉😃😊
😊👥🎉 The Grand View Garden is not very large in size; if you're just looking at the scenery, half an hour is enough to take a tour. Many people find the ticket price not worth it because of the small area and limited scenery. However, if you reminisce about specific episodes from 'Dream of the Red Chamber' while wandering through the corresponding courtyards or carefully observing the details, you will remember the stories and classic dialogues that took place at each site, and analyze the character traits of the related characters. In that case, it would take at least half a day to complete the tour, and you would definitely find it very rewarding. 📚🌿😊
😊📚🌿 Many courtyards in the Grand View Garden attract tourists, such as the Yihong Courtyard where Jia Baoyu lived, the Xiaoxiang Pavilion where Lin Daiyu lived, and the Hengwu Garden where Xue Baochai lived. The stories that take place in these locations are the most numerous in the novel, and many tourists specially dress in ancient costumes to take photos there. In addition, the largest architectural complex in the Grand View Garden is probably the Provincial Relatives' Villa. This place has been turned into the 'Red Chamber Culture and Art Museum', with the main hall and the side halls serving as exhibition rooms. The Grand View Tower behind the main hall also has exhibitions related to the culture of the Red Chamber, and the content is quite rich. 🏛️🖼️😊
😊🏛️🖼️ Today, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the second floor of the Grand View Tower is now open for visitors. Previously, access to the upper floors was blocked, but now you can go up to enjoy the view and visit the exhibition rooms. Currently, only the Cui Bi Mountain Villa on the west side of the Provincial Relatives' Villa in the Grand View Garden remains closed, and all other places are open. 🔓🌳😊
😊🔓🌳 The afternoon sun is bright and although the temperature has not fully warmed up, the willow branches in the garden have started to turn green, and the lake has completely thawed. The blue lake water reflects the shadows of trees and ancient-style buildings in the garden, a large group of ducks swim freely on the water, and geese march in a row along the lakeshore, adding to the increasingly strong sense of spring. In the Lü Cui An north of the Yihong Courtyard, a tree of wax plum with full yellow blossoms attracts countless tourists to take photos. After all, this should be the only flower shadow in the entire Grand View Garden at this time. 🌼📷😊

Beijing's Grand View Garden's Hsiao-hsiang Lodge
Beijing's Grand View Garden recreates various scenes from Cao Xueqin's 'Dream of the Red Chamber' in the Grand View Garden.
Hsiao-hsiang Lodge was Lin Daiyu's residence in the Grand View Garden. She chose it herself because she 'loved the few bamboo poles there, hidden by a winding balustrade, which seemed even more secluded than other places'.
Daiyu spent her life here accompanied by bamboo, poetry, melancholy, solitude, and tears. The Hsiao-hsiang Lodge is most famous for its bamboo, 'with phoenix tails lush and dragon chants subtle, surrounded by a ring of verdant bamboo'. Jia Baoyu once inscribed: Presence of the Phoenix
The bamboo is noble and refined, with scholarly elegance, and its reserve reveals vitality. Daiyu's poetic name, 'Lady of Hsiao-hsiang', embodies such an aristocratic and natural detachment, graceful and charming allure.
In my opinion: The spotted bamboo also symbolizes the dripping of tears, and the words 'Hsiao-hsiang' further signify endless tears. Daiyu's residence in the Hsiao-hsiang Lodge also metaphorically represents her life of melancholy and sorrow.

Taking parents to visit the Grand View Garden in Beijing: A nostalgic trip for the older generation to relive classic films and TV shows
The Grand View Garden, located in the southern second ring of Beijing🏞️, served as the filming location for the 1987 version of 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. It preserves the residences of many characters from the drama, and especially now as the weather warms up, the park is filled with lush greenery and blooming flowers, making it a great place for spring outings and flower appreciation🌸. The Grand View Garden offers a view at every step and is particularly suitable for taking a stroll with parents👵. For them, visiting the filming locations of classic films and TV shows will surely bring back a wave of nostalgia.
⭕️Touring tips:
✅The Grand View Garden is not very large in size, and the various halls are close to each other. It is recommended to visit in order, either clockwise or counterclockwise.
✅Some halls retain the layout of living rooms, 📚study rooms, and side rooms, which can be viewed from outside the hall.
✅Lingcui'an is the only 🛕temple building in the garden, where Miaoyu practiced Zen meditation, and the main hall is currently open for worship.
✅The main building of Daoxiang Village is covered with thatched roofs, presenting a rural village scenery with 🌾straw.
✅Xiaoxiang Pavilion is dominated by green, surrounded by a lot of bamboo🎋, making it a relatively 'alternative' pavilion in the Grand View Garden. Delicate and refined, the building has a cool color tone. There is currently a 🫖tea shop set up inside.
✅The Grand View Tower in the Provincial Villa can be climbed to the second floor, and tall magnolias are planted on both sides of the door. It is especially beautiful when they bloom in spring, and 👍it is also one of the recommended places to enjoy magnolias in Beijing.
✅Dicuiting and the pavilion next to the Lake Heart Island🏝️ have long corridors where you can sit and rest. If you get tired, you can take a break at these two spots.
✅If you walk and browse slowly🚶♀️, the visiting time is approximately 3-4 hours.

Grand View Garden, Beijing
This felt like a smaller park but it was really nice! I love anything with a pond or body of water. We went in November or December and it was still wonderful. Luckily it is only very cold in Beijing for a couple months so you can explore freely most of the year and even in the winter it isn’t too cold. This park is closer to the west side of the side, turned right into the bottom corner of the city canal. Like most things in the city it’s easy to get to, a subway stop is right next to it and we had no problems getting in from there. You wouldn’t even need to put aside a whole day for this park, go later in the day then go and grab dinner after.

Beijing tourism, I heard that the Grand View Garden is not far from where you want to go. Daguanyuan is located in the West Street of Nancaiyuan, Xicheng District, Beijing. It is mainly based on the Grand View Garden in the Dream of Red Mansions.
"Daguan Garden" is an antique garden. The main attractions are the courtyards of the 12-golden residence such as Xiaoxiang Pavilion, Qifang Bridge and Jade Palace.
The pavilion and pavilion in the park, the verandas are twisted and twisted, the flowers and trees are luxuriant, the blue waves are rippling, the deer is dancing, the peacock is on the screen, the water is leaping, the ducks and geese are high, and the red building is full of artistic conception.
