Earth Science Exhibition to handle curious kids
If your curious kid asked questions like how the Earth was formed, or you are new to HK and wonders what is typhoon or the hexagonal rock columns in the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark - do come check out the Earth Science Gallery at 1/F Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Science Museum.
Here it illustrates the answer in an interactive and more interesting way than just reading from books or Wikipedia.
Not only is the exhibition free of charge, the museum offers free workshop about Earth Science.
The gallery offers learning through play experience, which complex and abstract concepts are demonstrated. For example plate tectonics, climate change, typhoons (especially if there are no typhoons in your home country) and different types of beautiful minerals.

The Hong Kong Science Museum is located in Kowloon and has over 500 exhibits on display including Cathay Pacific’s first DC3 airliner suspended from the ceiling.
Most of the exhibits are hands-on, including a car simulator that you “drive” to avoid accidents. Another highlight is the 22-meter Energy Machine (the largest of its kind in the world) with audio-visual effects simulating energy. Kids will love it.

The price to get in isn’t expensive. There is lots to see and worth paying the little extra for the Winter Olympics Exhibition, that is great fun for both children and adults. The big energy exhibition which runs on the top floor every now and again throughout the day was fascinating. We had good fun with the mirrors. The Museum is next to the History Museum. We managed both on the same day. I good rainy day activity.

Hi Fly to Hong Kong | The fun-filled 'Hong Kong Science Museum'
| The fun-filled 'Hong Kong Science Museum'.🔶🔶🔶 The Hong Kong Science Museum, I personally think, is the most interesting museum in Hong Kong. It explores the joy of science through interactive exhibits, observational experiences, and hands-on practices. It's suitable not only for children but for all age groups!
◼️ The museum has four floors with multiple exhibition halls, including the Electromagnetism Gallery, Earth Science Hall, Biodiversity Gallery, Jockey Club Environmental Conservation Gallery, and a large number of interactive installations. It covers basic knowledge and provides a lot of practical experiences and interactive activities to feel the mystery and fun of science, with a strong sense of fun.
◼️ In the central hall of the museum, there is a 12-meter-tall Energy Machine, super impressive! It is currently the largest of its kind in the world! It is also an important symbol of the Hong Kong Science Museum!
🛍 There is a gift shop at the exit, with normal prices, where you can buy as needed, with cash or online payment available.

Hong Kong Science Museum--A great destination for family fun!
👍🏻 The crown jewel "Energy Machine":
I came specifically for this, the world's largest energy machine. It was an eye-opener even for an adult like me. Although I've seen many similar devices, such large-scale ones are indeed rare, and I found it quite interesting!
However, the only problem is: the entire energy machine is divided into sections A and B. There are quite a few spectators. If you occupy a good spot in section A and want to move to section B after watching half of it, you definitely won't be able to squeeze in, so you can only watch half of the show. It's quite unsatisfying unless you visit multiple times.
🔸 Children's Play Area:
This was an unexpectedly fun place, especially for the kids who came along. They had a blast with the simple yet educational games, each requiring the children to get hands-on and understand basic mechanical principles.
🔸 Biodiversity:
It's a bit like a small-scale natural history museum, with animal specimens from the African savannah and a plethora of butterflies and bees. If it weren't for seeing so many at once here, I wouldn't have known that butterflies come in so many different forms.
🔸 Mirror Maze:
This is a brilliant demonstration of the use of mirrors, showing how different mirrors, placed and assembled at different angles, can create so many fascinating mirror worlds.
✔️ All in all, no matter the age of the children or students, everyone can find something of interest at the Hong Kong Science Museum. It's definitely worth the visit!

Hong Kong Museum Parent-Child Trip
This time I took my son to Hong Kong, we didn't go to Disneyland or Ocean Park, but visited many museums instead. We had a great time just the same, and here I'd like to share some tips.
First of all, upon arriving in Hong Kong, the first impression is that Hong Kong people are more enthusiastic than they were ten years ago. When we asked a young man who was jogging at night for directions, not only did he tell us how to get there, but he also waited for us at the next intersection, afraid that we would take the wrong path; when we went to the bank to change for small bills, since we didn't have a local bank account, the front desk lady went out of her way to communicate with the teller for us, so we could successfully get the change; at the restaurant, the cashier auntie warmly recommended dishes to us, and when we were leaving, she even said 'Have fun'. Throughout the trip, we spoke Mandarin and did not encounter the discrimination or unfair treatment mentioned online. The premise is that we also need to show our quality.
Back to the main topic , if you also want to take your child to leisurely stroll around Hong Kong and visit various museums, the following two tips are very important.
One, it seems that Hong Kong doesn't really try to make money off children, especially in terms of educational aspects. They have a museum pass (annual card system), which costs 100 Hong Kong dollars per year, allowing unlimited visits to all museums under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (including the Space Museum, Science Museum, History Museum, etc.). Here comes the key point, do you think 100 Hong Kong dollars a year is not cheap? Let me tell you, this is an annual fee for a family of up to four people, do you still think it's expensive? You'll earn it back with just one visit , and you can also get a discount on souvenirs with the card. So how do you apply? Just fill out the application form on the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's website in advance, and then send an email to the museum where you want to pick up the card (must be collected within 15 days), or you can fill out the application form and print it out to handle it on site. We mainland tourists can also apply.
Two, the dome movie at the Space Museum is a must-see, but it's almost impossible to buy tickets on-site during holidays. We can buy tickets 7 days in advance on the Cityline ticketing website, and then go to the ticket counter with the confirmation barcode to exchange for tickets. When we were exchanging tickets, looking at the envious eyes of those tourists behind us who could only buy tickets for the next day or the day after, we felt a bit smug . Of course, it's also best to buy tickets for the Peak Tram and the Ferris wheel online in advance.
In summary, we had a particularly fun trip to Hong Kong these past few days.

Make sure to go on Wednesdays as it is free entry every Wednesday. The Science Museum was super fun and super informative about physics, astrology and so on. We stayed in there for ages and it was already dark when we left. Not to mention, there are amazing restaurants nearby (Moby Road, K11, etc). Just remember to go on Wednesday because it is free.

If you don't know where to take your child, then taking him to the Hong Kong Science Museum will not go wrong. The
science hall is suitable for children of all ages, because no matter how old the child can explore the unknown here.
The favorite of the big kids is this energy shuttle of up to 22 meters, which is the largest of its kind in the world. On each floor, there are many parents who accompany the children to watch the energy ball in every corner of the exhibition hall.
The Science Museum's new "Children's World" is a newly opened exhibition hall. There are ten exhibits produced by the French Science and Industry City, including "Little Engineers", "Spherical Balls", "Where are the Animals", etc. These exhibits allow children to use their imagination and encourage children to cooperate with each other. , complete the task together.
Although the official website requires a child of one meter six, they can play with their parents. But we observed the content of the experience, and it feels suitable for children who are at least three years old. Perhaps it is a new exhibition hall, many local moms and dads and children to experience, need to stay in line waiting time. The theme of the special exhibition on
3rd floor is "miffy and the ocean". Mainly to use the cartoon image of miffy to tell the children the importance of protecting marine life. Miffy is a meat god, meaning the cookie goddess, because now his favorite is miffy biscuits. Miffy biscuits have a chance to eat only when they are away from home, so he especially cherishes and is particularly eager to get. At the same time, he placed a small snack in front of him, and his eyes only had miffy.

With children traveling in Hong Kong, it is highly recommended to go to the Hong Kong Science and Technology Museum. Although the venue is not as good as some shelf workers in the inland metropolis, it is very interactive. Almost every project allows children to experience and participate. Among them, the magical mirror world, the children themselves became the flower in the kaleidoscope, which is wonderful.
