Pathfinder Episode 13: Fucheng Yuhuang Temple
National key cultural relics protection, Fucheng Yuhuang Temple.
The security guard said:
Don't mention the cultural relics under 600 years old here, it's not interesting...
That proud face.
It's hard to see clearly, let alone take pictures. If it's not surrounded by iron railings, it's locked doors. Even if you go in, it's like tunnel warfare.
Only a few photos were taken with the mobile phone, and these photos were also hard to come by .
The last photo can screenshot the QR code for voice explanation, and there are explanations and pictures of this hall after scanning with the mobile phone.

Tour of Shanxi—Yuhuang Temple in Jincheng
The Yuhuang Temple was established in the ninth year of Xining in the Northern Song Dynasty (1076), and it is a Taoist temple in ancient Zezhou with a large scale and wide influence. The temple is divided into three sections, with the first gate, the second gate, the gods' pavilion, and the Yuhuang Hall built on a central axis. The temple has a rare Taoist twenty-eight constellations solitary product colored sculpture in the history of Chinese sculpture.
The existing Yuhuang Hall was built in the Song Dynasty, the Chengtang Hall was built in the Jin Dynasty, the east and west ear halls and the east and west corridors in the backyard were built in the Yuan Dynasty, and the rest are all buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
The temple of Yuhuang Temple retains more than 280 colored sculptures from the Jin, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties, 120 square meters of murals, 36 Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing records, and heavy repair steles (square). The roof of the Yuhuang Temple also retains some glazed art components from the Jin, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties.
The twenty-eight constellations statues are located in the west corridor of the temple, which are relics of the Yuan Dynasty, sculpted in the thirty-first year of Yuan Zhiyuan (1294), and there are 23 existing statues, which are inferred to be the works of the great sculptor Liu Lun of the Yuan Dynasty. The characteristics are Greek noses, slender waists, rich and profound facial expressions, representing the representative achievements of ancient Chinese sculpture art, and are typical examples of the combination of realism and romanticism in ancient Chinese sculpture art.

3. Must-see: The most valuable thing in Yuhuang Temple is the twenty-eight constellations statues, followed by the colored sculptures of various dynasties, as well as the twenty-eight constellations glazed statues and the glazed lions on the ridge of the roof of Yuhuang Hall, and the glazed kirin on the back slope beasts (need a long-focus lens to take pictures, lions and kirins need to go out of the gate and go around to the back of Yuhuang Hall to see).
| Twenty-eight Constellations Colored Sculptures.🌟The twenty-eight constellations are twenty-eight star regions divided by ancient Chinese astronomers for observing the movement of the sun, moon, and five stars, composed of seven constellations each from the Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermilion Bird of the South, the White Tiger of the West, and the Black Tortoise of the North. The twenty-eight constellations are the names of constellations in astronomy. In the Tang Dynasty, the Five Elements scholar Yuan Tiangang combined the twenty-eight constellations with twenty-eight animals, and assigned one of the characters of the sun, moon, gold, wood, water, fire, and earth under each constellation name. The sun and the moon are yin and yang, and gold, wood, water, fire, and earth are the five elements, so the names of the twenty-eight constellations are formed by these three combinations.
🌟Treasures of Jincheng Jade Emperor Temple
1⃣Twenty-eight Constellations Colored Sculptures: Works of Yuan Dynasty art master Liu Lun, unique in the country, representing the highest achievement of ancient Chinese sculpture art, located in the Twenty-eight Constellations Hall on the west side of the backyard.
2⃣Glazed Components: The twenty-eight constellations glazed figures and the glazed lions on the ridge and the glazed kirin on the back slope of the Golden Age burnt in front and behind the ridge of the Jade Emperor Hall of the Song Dynasty are the only remaining items of similar glazed products in China; the peacock blue glazed tiles covering the first gate and the glazed god platforms concentrated in the halls of the middle courtyard are also very precious.
3⃣Wood Carvings: The various god statues in the Chengtang Hall of the Jin Dynasty and the three tower-style god niches are all fine wood carvings. The main building of the god niche is more than 5 meters high, with a double-eave Xieshan top, and the two ear buildings are double-eave Xuan Mountain tops. The overall design is exquisite, the shape is rigorous, the layers are rich, and the knife technique is delicate, which can be described as a small wooden art masterpiece.
4⃣Murals: Most of the murals in the temple have been damaged, and the remaining murals are all works of different periods, each with its own characteristics, which is precious. The best preserved is the front mural in the Twelve Yuan Chen Hall.
5⃣Colored Sculptures: The temple houses more than 260 colored sculptures from different periods such as the Song, Jin, and Yuan dynasties, all of which are Taoist gods, from the Jade Emperor, the Universal Star Monarch, to the Three Walls, Four Saints, Nine Yao, Twelve Chen; there are both the Wind and Rain Masters, the Silkworm Raising, Wen Zhen, Wu Dao; there are also Gao Qi, Horse God, Bull King, Six Plagues; it can be said that it gathers people, ghosts, gods, and immortals together, and it can be said to systematically display the Chinese Taoist gods system with artistic methods, with extraordinary viewing value and cultural relic value.
