I've discovered another treasure of a hiking trail, spanning 13km, complete with a guide to playing in the water and admiring plum blossoms
Ma Luan Mountain is truly a hidden gem of a rural park, offering not only multiple hiking trails but also water play, camping, stream trekking, and now, in this season, you can see bald cypress and swathes of white plum blossoms! I hear Shenzhen is about to cool down, so take advantage of the good weather and go out for a look!
-
‼️Tips: The northern entrance is a bit further, but the difficulty level is lower, while the southern entrance is shorter but has a higher difficulty level!
-
To the left of the northwest gate of Ma Luan Mountain Country Park, you can trek up the stream and play in the water, which is suitable for families with children to travel, have a picnic, and camp by the stream! The photogenic bald cypress forest is also here, so you can choose this as your first stop at the north gate!
-
Continue walking for about 10 minutes from the north gate, follow the trail upwards and you will reach the Bi Ling Waterfall Group, with 5 waterfalls to admire. The last waterfall is the most spectacular and the best for group photos, with a distance of about 3km, and it takes about 1h one way.
-
✅👉Route Guide:
Route : Start from the northwest gate of Ma Luan Mountain Country Park ➡ Bi Ling Waterfall Group ➡ Tang Keng Handmade Trail ➡ Luo's Mansion ➡ Ma Luan Mountain Waterfall ➡ Ma Luan Mountain North Gate
Route : Huang Zhu Keng Entrance: 2h mountain road to reach Luo's Mansion
Route : Da Mei Sha (Huada Gene Entrance): 2h mountain road + tractor road to reach Mei Ting/Xiao Mei Sha (Die Cui Lake Entrance): 0.5h greenway + 1h second line Guan Country Trail to reach Mei Ting
-
📍Address: Northwest gate of Ma Luan Mountain Country Park
🚃Transport: Self-drive or public transport (Exit D of Jinlong Station on Line 14, take a taxi directly to the northwest gate of Ma Luan Mountain Country Park, estimated 10-15 minutes)
-
Ma Luan Mountain is very large, if it's your first time going, it's recommended to take a more established route, unless you have a professional guide, do not take shortcuts! Also, the current waterfall flow is relatively small, it is recommended to go see the bald cypress and plum blossoms first!

The clouds over Maluan Mountain are mesmerizing
Shenzhen's weather is very hot, but I decided to go out for a walk. I took the north gate to go up the mountain, and today I didn't go to Meiting but walked towards the Honghua Ridge Reservoir for a while before turning back.
After being washed by the rain for some time, the sky today is pure, and the clouds are so beautiful, with various shapes filling the sky.
The shaded spots on the path are quite cool, and the breeze blowing through is much more comfortable than staying at home with the air conditioning.

Butterfly Trail | I really regret not coming to this stunning trail earlier
I really regret not coming to this stunning trail earlier. The Butterfly Trail is 3.4 kilometers long, starting from the entrance of Jiuzhaigou Banyan Tree at Maluan Mountain and ending at the north gate of Maluan Mountain, with most of the path shaded. Here, you can find a dense forest habitat with babbling streams and a long corridor for butterfly watching where butterflies flit about.
The trail is equipped with a butterfly-themed educational system that retells the story of the butterfly's life cycle, making it an educational and entertaining route suitable for family hikes, as well as a path for self-healing.
How to enter the Butterfly Trail? At the north gate of Maluan Mountain Country Park, go to the yellow sign in the last picture, and follow the small path inside, and you will reach the Butterfly Trail. There are many signs set up on-site, and there are signs at almost every fork in the road, just follow the signs.
Recommended route: Maluan Mountain Country Park North Gate - Butterfly Trail (uphill) - Maluan Mountain Nature Notes Trail (downhill); or Maluan Mountain Country Park North Gate - Maluan Mountain Nature Notes Trail (uphill) - Butterfly Trail (downhill).
Butterfly Watching Tips
1. When watching butterflies in the wild, avoid wearing clothes that are too bright or colorful, including white.
2. When approaching butterflies, be sure to move slowly and speak softly.
3. In Shenzhen, you can enjoy butterflies almost all year round. Summer is the peak season for butterflies. Butterfly Watching Spots
1. In front of blooming flowers
2. Places rich in humus
3. Open areas by mountain streams
4. In front of and behind houses in villages
5. Near host plants

From Pingshan to Yantian | There is water, waterfalls, mountains, and sea.⛰️🌊|||It turns out that from Maluan Mountain⛰️ you can get to the popular check-in spot Yunhai Square
The waterfall on Maluan Mountain doesn't have much water this season
But it's also quite fun to go on a foggy rainy day
I can already imagine the coolness after the summer rainy season
🚇Take bus 366 to Maluan Mountain Northwest Gate from Yonghu Metro Station A2 on Line 3
The air on Maluan Mountain is really good, especially after the rain
There is only one route to see the waterfall on Maluan Mountain
Just follow the steps
There will be many side trails to other mountains⛰️ in the middle
I might try them next time
After seeing the biggest waterfall, climb up some steps
Walk a bit from the exit and you'll see a stele
Turn left at the stele to reach the road (navigate directly to Chaxigu Parking Lot)
Walk about 15 minutes to the left on the road to get to Chaxigu Parking Lot
Take the Yunhai Special Line bus directly to the popular check-in spot Yunhai Square (8 yuan). The bus will pass by several small attractions
To go down the mountain, just go to the house opposite Yunhai Square
Go around it and there's a mountain exit (the viewing platform from my first note)
Then go down to Yantian Comprehensive Parking Lot
Cross a footbridge and walk straight to see the entrance of Yantian Road Metro Station
⭐️Of course, if you don't want to walk anymore, you can take a bus🚌

This guesthouse is located at the southeast foot of Maluan Mountain
This guesthouse is located at the southeast foot of Maluan Mountain, amidst clusters of mountains and forests, resembling a fairy-tale forest castle! We arrived in the early morning, when the fog had not yet dispersed, and the villa was surrounded by green forests and mist, so fairy-like! I instantly felt that this trip with my family was totally worth it!
There is a small stream running behind the guesthouse. After we put down our luggage, the whole family gathered at the window to take pictures of the scenery! My naughty son loved the steps at the door, and he played up and down them several times. The steps are paved with marble, right? They feel very textured. This place is both fairy-like and beautiful, and the decorative materials feel expensive. The landlord must be a wealthy person!
I especially love the courtyard here, which is very spacious. The Japanese style looks simple and comfortable; there is a video room on the second floor, where friends staying here will watch movies together at night, creating a great atmosphere; there is a tea room on the third floor, where my chatty parents could sit for a long time; the star-gazing terrace on the fourth floor is fantastic, overlooking the panoramic view of Dapeng Bay. At that time, my husband and I were deeply immersed in the mountain forest and tea sea, and the feeling of being close to nature was so wonderful!
This place has the highest altitude of 600 meters, the largest waterfall in Shenzhen, and the most beautiful reed field. I saw many young ladies coming out to Cosplay, some with deer antlers and some in fairy dresses. It's a pity that I didn't bring my camera from home, but the photos taken with my Huawei are also great! Friendly reminder: Girls must bring beautiful clothes when going out!!!
