Wuzhen Nanzha: The uncommercialized ancient town
Wuzhen, a place full of historical charm and cultural atmosphere, has always been an important stop on my travel list. This time, I had the fortune to visit this place known as 'the last waterside households', to explore its antiquity and simplicity.
🌟 Wuzhen Nanzha, among the three major scenic areas of Wuzhen, is the most unadorned corner. Here, without the hustle and bustle of the East or West Zones, it quietly tells the story of the millennium-old town with its uncarved original appearance. Stone-paved roads, simple folk houses, as if time has been frozen at that moment of tranquil years.
As soon as you step into Nanzha, it's like entering a world isolated from the rest. Pushing open the creaking old wooden doors, walking into the narrow and long alleys, you will meet old craftsmen repairing bamboo baskets under the sun, and the neighbor's grandma bringing out freshly made mei cai kou rou, with the rich scent of life hitting you in the face. It feels like just by turning around, you could brush shoulders with ancient scholars and literati.
📸 The scenery along the way is as picturesque as poetry, walking along the bluestone road, every step seems to be on the pulse of history. The mottled brick walls, the ancient stone bridges, the quietly flowing rivers, all tell you stories that have been dust-covered for ages. You can stop to admire, or follow my steps to delve deeper into the history and culture of Wuzhen.
In this simple and ancient place, you can not only feel the weight of history but also the warmth and kindness of the residents. Their smiles, their lives, have become the most precious memories of my trip.
The beauty of Wuzhen Nanzha needs to be felt and experienced personally. I hope you can find the tranquility, simplicity, and beauty here, just like I did. On my next trip, I will choose to come here again, to feel once more the unique charm that belongs to Wuzhen.
So annoying!!! Please don't provide tour guide services with the tricycles wandering around Wuzhen
This kind of service has ruined the good impression.
👎Least recommended: Tricycle service
Before the Spring Festival, I took my parents to Wuzhen during the off-season. After lunch, the three of us were just walking around nearby, and we encountered many human-powered tricycles/electric tricycles🛺 on the road.
A master of an electric tricycle introduced that it was too early to go to Xizha to see the night view at night, and he just took us to the old street. The tour guide was also the master himself, at least one hour, 30 per person, and no other fees. Seeing that he had a certificate hanging around his neck, we thought we were just walking around, so we got on the car.
1. Lack of professionalism
He introduced the Qing Dynasty buildings and canals along the way, and several Qing Dynasty emperors also patrolled here. My mother is very good at history, so she asked him several times why Qianlong, who is said to have been here, is not here? The driver was silent and did not answer, paused for a while and continued his introduction.
2. The traces of commercialization are straight and blunt
After getting off the car, he first took us to the "been here never left" on the big white wall, and introduced that this was the line in Liu Ruoying's drama, which could be photographed as a souvenir. It's so blunt, haha, I felt a bit speechless at the time😓.
Later, he took us through the so-called old streets, which is actually Nanzha, similar to Beijing Hutong. He took us to the shops selling wine, chili sauce, dried oranges and dried plums, tea... and so on.
1⃣️Some shops have some stories, these stories are all on the walls of the shop, such as how Sanbai wine🍶 came and the process, there is only one small wedding room upstairs in Sanbai wine for visitors to visit, which is not as systematic as the wedding exhibition in Xizha scenic area, and it has nothing to do with white wine, just telling us that we can go up and see... very blunt.
2⃣️He said that some shops go to the end is a scene set by people, if there are sisters who rent costumes nearby may need to take pictures, do not need to buy tickets to enter the scenic area, but our family who just watch the scenery really can't bear to look directly.
3. The most angry point is that he took us to the Baijiaxing Museum
After going around, he finally took us to the back door of a Baijiaxing Museum, walked through to the front door and was ready to go back. However, there are paintings and calligraphy for sale in this museum, and one of them surrounded my dad and said that looking at the face, how about you this year, I was very angry at the time!!! Very taboo, directly scolded the person in the museum loudly.
On the way back, our family didn't say a word, at first we thought it was a game, but since we have entered the game, we also hope to get out safely. It's really disgusting
