#Sanjiang Drum Tower Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The world's number one Drum Tower
The Sanjiang Drum Tower, located on Moon Street in Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Guangxi, was built in November 2002 by a team of local famous Dong ethnic craftsmen led by Yang Siyu. It integrates multiple functions such as culture, sightseeing, and tourism.
The Sanjiang Drum Tower is 42.6 meters high, with 60 pillars touching the ground, covering an area of 600 square meters. The Drum Tower has 27 tiers of tile eaves. Except for the top two tiers, the remaining 25 tiers of tiles are evenly spaced and taper with each layer, giving the tower a pyramid shape and a dignified and stable appearance. Each tier of eaves is elegantly upturned, and the exquisite carvings and bright eave board paintings contrast sharply with the massive and rugged body of the tower. Inside the tower, the diameter of each of the four fir pillars exceeds 70 centimeters, and all are over a hundred years old, which is unique in the history of Drum Tower construction. From the viewing platform of the Drum Tower, you can take in the panoramic view of Sanjiang.
The Drum Tower is the symbol and soul of Dong villages. The Sanjiang Drum Tower is the premier Drum Tower of Dongxiang and is known as the 'world's number one Drum Tower.' It is an attraction of the Chinese National 4A scenic area, the Sanjiang Dong Village Scenic Area in China.
May Day travel without crowds, "Sanjiang" to learn about Dong culture.
I have always wanted to learn about Chinese culture and explore Chinese trends, to seek the meaning of life and find answers. So, I followed my dad to this small town for a day trip, slowly walking and exploring the streets ♥.
This is a Dong ethnic autonomous county, one of the 56 ethnic groups in China. The urban area is not large, but as soon as you step in, you feel like you have returned to your hometown and experience the simplicity of the people. Time seems to pass slowly here. Students and elderly people can be seen everywhere on the streets. Many elderly people gather in the square to play cards, sing and dance, very leisurely and carefree, a simple happiness!
