Sevan Monastery, located on Sevan Island in Lake Sevan, was built in the 9th century AD. The existing buildings include the Church of the Holy Apostles and the Church of Our Lady of the Nativity. The latter is larger in scale and has more preserved monuments. On the left-hand side (north side) of the door of the Church of Our Lady of God, there is a cross stone carved in Mongolian times. At that time, in order to please the Mongolians, the god was carved into a Mongolian appearance. It turned out that the Resurrection Church on the upper part of the island had been destroyed in the Soviet period, but it is still a good place to watch the scenery. Due to the construction of water conservancy projects in the Soviet era, the water level of the lake has dropped, and today's Sevan Island has become a peninsula.
