Urban wanderings is in the charming city of Ljubljana🇸🇮👫😎
#urbanwanderings
One of my favorite urban wanderings is in the charming city of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Tailored perfectly to human needs, it strikes a balance between being cosmopolitan for work and wonderfully green for relaxation. The city’s heart, with its picturesque riverside and café-lined streets, invites leisurely strolls, while its lush parks offer a peaceful retreat. Ljubljana’s architectural beauty, especially the work of Jože Plečnik, adds a unique charm to the experience. Whether exploring the quaint old town, crossing the famous Triple Bridge, or simply enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, Ljubljana has a distinct vibe, blending modern living with a deep connection to nature. It’s truly a city built for people.

The World in the Valley
Wulong Tiankeng, also known as Wulong Karst, is located in the eastern part of Fairy Mountain Town, Wulong District, Chongqing City, situated to the south of Fairy Mountain. It is a World Natural Heritage site, a national 5A tourist attraction, and features typical karst topography.
Wulong Tiankeng consists of three natural stone arch bridges: Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge, and Heilong Bridge. These bridges are closely connected and distributed within the Yangshui River Gorge, with each bridge spanning over 500 meters, linking the mountains on both sides and creating a 'three bridges between two pits' landscape. With an average height of over 246 meters, they showcase the natural bridges of Wulong Karst, an important part of the Wulong Karst World Natural Heritage, and serve as an important example for scientific research and education in the field of karstology.
Wulong Tiankeng is characterized by its magnificence, danger, and steepness, and is the largest bead-like natural bridge cluster in the world. It integrates with the surrounding mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and gorges to form a rare geological wonder and an ecological tourism area. It has been the location for the shooting of external scenes for movies such as 'Curse of the Golden Flower,' 'Transformers 4,' and the film version of 'Eternal Love.'
You can first reach the Fairy Mountain Tourist Center in the Wulong Karst tourist area, and then take a scenic area bus to the entrance of the scenic area. After entering, you can walk under the arches of the three stone bridges in sequence, and then walk up from the other end to the exit, or you can take an electric cart. It takes about 2-3 hours to tour the Tiankeng Three Bridges scenic area.

Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is a charming and vibrant city known for its picturesque architecture, green spaces, and lively cultural scene. Nestled along the banks of the Ljubljanica River, this compact city offers a perfect blend of history, nature, and modern urban life.
What to Expect
Visitors to Ljubljana will find a city that is both quaint and cosmopolitan. The well-preserved historic center is characterized by Baroque buildings, colorful facades, and the iconic Ljubljana Castle perched on a hilltop. The city’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its numerous parks, pedestrian zones, and the widespread use of bicycles.
Experiences and Recommendations
Begin your exploration at the Ljubljana Castle, accessible by a funicular ride or a scenic hike. The castle provides panoramic views of the city and houses a museum detailing Ljubljana’s history. From there, stroll down to the Old Town, where you can wander through narrow streets lined with charming cafes, shops, and historic landmarks.
The Triple Bridge, designed by renowned architect Jože Plečnik, is one of the city’s most recognizable features and connects the modern city with the historical center. Nearby, the Central Market is a bustling hub where you can sample local produce, cheeses, and traditional Slovenian dishes.
For a dose of culture, visit the National Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art, both of which showcase impressive collections of Slovenian and international art. The Slovenian Philharmonic and the Ljubljana Opera House offer performances that reflect the city’s rich musical heritage.
Ljubljana is also known for its green spaces. Tivoli Park, the largest park in the city, is perfect for a leisurely walk or picnic. The Ljubljana Botanical Garden, one of the oldest in Europe, offers a peaceful retreat with its diverse collection of plants.
Tips and Tricks
The best times to visit Ljubljana are in the spring (April to June) and fall (September to October) when the weather is mild, and the city hosts numerous festivals and outdoor events. Summer can be quite busy with tourists, but it’s also when the city’s vibrant café culture is in full swing.
