Summer Palace | The Royal Garden Museum
The Royal Garden Museum. The Summer Palace, formerly known as Qingyi Garden, is located in the western suburbs of Beijing, about fifteen kilometers from the city center, mainly consisting of Wanshou Mountain and Kunming Lake. There are more than 3,000 various forms of palace garden buildings, roughly divided into administrative, residential, and sightseeing parts.
❤ It is the most completely preserved royal palace garden, known as the 'Royal Garden Museum'. In 2009, the Summer Palace was selected by the China World Records Association as the largest existing royal garden in China.
The administrative area is centered around the Renshou Hall, which was the place where Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu held court and met with foreign guests. Behind Renshou Hall are three large quadrangles: Leshou Tang, Yulan Tang, and Yi Yun Guan, which were the residences of Empress Dowager Cixi, Emperor Guangxu, and the imperial concubines, respectively. To the east of Yi Yun Guan is the Dehe Garden Grand Theater, one of the three major theaters of the Qing Dynasty.
🌟 From the Sea of Wisdom on the top of Wanshou Mountain, the central axis line is clearly defined by the Buddhist Fragrance Pavilion, Dehui Hall, Paiyun Hall, Paiyun Gate, and the Yunhui Yuyu Archway. Below the mountain is a 700-meter-long 'Long Corridor' with over 8,000 painted beams, known as the 'world's number one corridor'. If you are tired from walking, you can rest in the Long Corridor and enjoy the scenery of Kunming Lake. The West Causeway of Kunming Lake was built in imitation of the Su Causeway of West Lake.
✅ Behind Wanshou Mountain and the rear lake, ancient trees form a forest with a Tibetan-style temple and an ancient Suzhou River trading street. At the east end of the rear lake is the Harmonious Interest Garden, built in imitation of the Jichang Garden in Wuxi, which is exquisite and known as the 'garden within a garden'. This requires an additional ticket purchase.
👍 The artistic conception of the Summer Palace is ingenious, a rare masterpiece of garden art in the world.

In Beijing, the spring is pleasant and the scenery is bright, with clear skies stretching for miles
Spring at the Summer Palace is stunningly beautiful, with peach blossoms🌸, apricot blossoms, and pear blossoms...
🏞️ Climbing up the Longevity Hill, you can overlook the entire Summer Palace, with the lake and mountains in full view.
The sparkling waves of Kunming Lake in the distance, set against the blue sky and white clouds, create a picturesque scene. The ancient architectural complex at the foot of the hill is well-arranged, truly embodying the phrase 'the spring is pleasant and the scenery is bright, with clear skies stretching for miles'‼️

The Summer Palace's 'Proud and Fragrant' Plum Blossoms
Winter Plum Blossom Spring Flower Exhibition.
Plum, is a traditional Chinese flower, with a cultivation history of more than 3,000 years, originally from southern China, spread to the north during the Western Han Dynasty. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, plum blossoms had become an important variety in gardens. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, plum blossoms were cultivated in many places in Beijing. When Emperor Qianlong built the Qingyi Garden, he placed potted plum and winter plum blossoms in places such as Wanshou Mountain, Yulan Hall, and Leshou Hall, and wrote down the plum poems 'Golden Basin Fragrance Through Old Plum Roots' and 'Pot Plum White Jade Struggle'. Emperor Qianlong's poem 'Looking at the Beautiful Pavilion' describes the scene seen by Emperor Qianlong when he passed by Changguan Hall. The poem 'Plum sentiment depends on the warmth of the house, and the willow body is afraid of the cold of the embankment' is a scene of life, with warm plum blossoms in the house and cold willows on the embankment, confirming that as early as the Qing Qianlong period, Changguan Hall had a plum blossom arrangement.

Go to the Summer Palace to watch a sunset in winter, the scenery is very beautiful
Go to the Summer Palace to watch a sunset in winter
Type of play: Winter play
The spectacle of the "Golden Light Through the Hole" of the Seventeen-Arch Bridge in the Summer Palace in winter usually appears around the winter solstice. Although the best angle for taking pictures is from the side of the bridge near Nanhu Island, it has been temporarily closed during the time before and after the winter solstice in recent years due to overcrowding.
During the closure of Nanhu Island, you can climb Wanshou Mountain to overlook the golden light through the Seventeen-Arch Bridge, and you can also enjoy the shadow of the Jade Peak Tower on the west side of Yuquan Mountain. The best shooting time is 3:30-4:00 in the afternoon.
After taking a picture of the golden light through the hole at 4 o'clock, go down the mountain before sunset and walk along Kunming Lake towards the Seventeen-Arch Bridge. The lake surface of the Summer Palace freezes in winter, and the lake surface is coated with a layer of golden light at sunset. The blue color of the lake surface itself + the golden light that comes up presents a brilliant blue and orange color, just like an oil painting.
You can see the sun setting bit by bit all the way, and it ends when you reach the Seventeen-Arch Bridge. If you are lucky, you can catch up with the sunset glow.
