I regretted my first visit to Weizhou Island because I didn't do any research beforehand

After longing for Beihai Weizhou Island, I finally set foot on this land amidst great anticipation. The scenery here is indeed breathtaking, and due to the limited number of people allowed on the island, it feels particularly quiet. At night, the streets are almost empty, so quiet that it feels a bit eerie. The trip was scheduled from May 1st to 5th. For transportation, I first traveled from Guangzhou South to Beihai, then took a ferry. I chose a hotel that offered free pier shuttle service (provided by the owner), which also had a swimming pool, quite distinctive. On the island, you can choose to ride tuk-tuks, but we opted to rent electric bikes, which allowed us to roam freely (charged by the day). The weather was sunny, perfect for a morning swim in the hotel pool. I don't recommend going out at noon when the sun is too strong, unless you're visiting some attractions. It's better to go out again from 3 to 4 pm, very leisurely and comfortable. We visited attractions like Crocodile Hill, Dripping Water Danping, Colorful Beach, Shell Beach, Shiluokou, and the Catholic Church. We also arranged a day at sea: taking the Da Fei to the yacht area, then boarding a yacht to experience some water activities. The sea trip was rather dull, and the water quality was just average. We only played with the glass-bottom boat and snorkeling. I honestly don't recommend going out to sea; it's enough to enjoy the island. Here are some must-visit places: - Shell Beach-Colorful Beach-Shiluokou, where watching the sunset at 5 or 6 pm is particularly beautiful, a must-experience. - The coastline towards Nanwan, go there at 3 pm to check in, and by 4 pm it gets crowded, the scenery is absolutely stunning! (Be careful of the waves at night when driving; we got wet by a sudden wave). - The Catholic Church is also a great place for photos and check-ins. - Crocodile Hill, we parked at the entrance and took an electric cart up, walking would be tiring. Regarding food, we went to Nanwan Seafood Market to buy our seafood and then had it processed at a restaurant, with processing fees ranging from 15 to 30 yuan. Some processing shops are quite a rip-off, so make sure to confirm the price in advance. We ended up having it processed at the guesthouse, and the owner was very nice. In conclusion, I highly recommend visiting here, it's a quiet island. You can stroll leisurely, ride your beloved little electric donkey, and enjoy the summer breeze. It's just perfect.

Weizhou Island : Volcanic beaches

This island is found off the coast of Beihai, accessible by Ferry. It has beautiful beaches filled with interesting geological formations. I went in March and the weather was perfect - sunny in the middle of the day but breezy enough to feel comfortable. The Island itself is very expensive to visit (2x ferry tickets & an entrance fee for the island) so I would recommend taking a couple of days and doing some diving or swimming while you are there to make the most of the trip.

This Guangxi loop itinerary is something I've been wanting to do for a long, long time!! This time, I took a short trip after the National Day holiday to avoid the peak season and arranged it directly! My mom and I spent less than 7,000 RMB, and we ate, stayed, and did great throughout the trip! The value for money was amazing! It was also super relaxing; we woke up naturally every day (I was overwhelmed by all the hotel recommendations before we left!). ⚠️【Accommodation, food, and important notes are all in the pictures】 - 📝Daily Itinerary D1: Arrive in Beihai - Weizhou Island Arrived at 9 am, took a taxi straight to eat some local seafood noodles. Bought our 12 pm ferry tickets to Weizhou Island in advance. Arrived around 3 pm. The hotel had a shuttle to pick us up. Our accommodation was near Wucaitan (Five-Colored Beach). I went to the church first, and then went straight to watch the sunset 🌄, it was absolutely gorgeous!! D2: Weizhou Island Free Time You can go beachcombing in the morning 🌊, but the sun is too strong at midday, so I don't recommend going out. In the afternoon, around 2 or 3 pm, rent an electric scooter and take photos of all the scenic spots on the island. Dinner will be at a restaurant, and the feeling of watching the sunset while eating is something else entirely! D3: Weizhou Island - Beihai Watch the sunrise in the morning, then wander around a bit. Buy a midday ferry ticket to Beihai. Head straight to Yuexiang Xiaochu after disembarking. It wasn't crowded in the late afternoon, so there was no queue. I highly recommend the mantis shrimp; the staff even peeled it for you – the service was amazing! In the afternoon, go to Liuxia Village (quite commercialized, really few photo spots). Then you can choose to go to Silver Beach or Guantouling to watch the sunset. Silver Beach was incredibly soothing, even though it was crowded, you'll understand from the GIF. D4: Beihai - Liuzhou Direct high-speed train, very convenient. After settling in, have a great time, then visit Ma'anshan Park for a nice panoramic view of Liuzhou. In the evening, explore the food street. D5: Day 6: Yaofu Ancient Town - Liuzhou Museum - Liuzhou Industrial Museum - Longtan Park. Rent a bike (30 RMB) at the hotel entrance and explore the whole town in one day. Longtan Park has many young women and older men taking photos on the bridge for 5 RMB each; even solo travelers can get great photos. Day 7: Liuzhou - Yangshuo. Get up early to visit Qingyun Morning Market; the food is incredibly diverse. In the afternoon, take the train (1.5 hours direct). I recommend going directly from the train station to Xingping Ancient Town (20 RMB photo spot) to avoid detours. Stay on West Street in Yangshuo; the food is mainly beer fish, and the bars have a lively atmosphere. Day 7: Yulong River Bamboo Raft - Ten-Mile Gallery Cycling - Guilin. The hotel will arrange your electric bike. Book your bamboo raft tickets a day in advance (it's super crowded in the off-season!!!). Arrive at the pier early to queue for tickets. After the bamboo raft ride, you can start cycling and taking photos. ‼ I highly recommend taking a ride-sharing service directly to Guilin; it's really convenient. If you have enough time, you can choose to take a cruise or train. 🚞 Visit the Sun and Moon Twin Towers in Guilin at night; the lights are absolutely beautiful! D8: Elephant Trunk Hill - Homecoming Visit Elephant Trunk Hill Park, which is featured in history textbooks, then buy some souvenirs before heading home!
